According to the report, Ban is “concerned that those ballistic missile launches are not consistent with the constructive spirit demonstrated by the signing of the JCPOA.”On July 11, Tehran tried to launch a ballistic missile using North Korean technology. The test failed when the missile exploded after liftoff. Speaking at the entrance to the Security Council, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said that “this latest missile test proves that Iran continues to act in defiance of the Security Council. The international community cannot bury its head in the sand and make do with words to combat the Iranian threat.”Read UN Security Council poised to vote on new ceasefire resolutionHe noted that “the Council members must understand that Iran’s actions do not only defy the Security Council, but present a real threat to Israel, the Middle East, and the entire free world.” This last test was the latest attempt in the year since the signing of the nuclear deal.The Secretary General’s report examined the Iranian ballistic missile program and found that it is not consistent with resolution 2231.
