French ‘human rights’ group honors father of terrorist for defending massacre of Jews

“An unimaginable record moral low,” says Jerusalem advocacy group ‘Lach Yerushalayim’ about a human rights award granted to a supporter of terror.

Attorney Muhammed Allyan was honored on Sunday for winning the International Pleading Competition of Palestine prize. The award was given for his work defending Nadia Abu Jamal, wife of Ghassan Abu Jamal, one of two terrorists responsible for the 2014 Har Nof synagogue massacre. During the attack, Abu Jamal and his cousin stabbed and murdered four Israeli-American rabbis and gunned down a Druze police officer before being killed by security forces. Several more were wounded and one succumbed to his wounds a year later.

Nadia Abu Jamal, who police say expressed support for what her husband did and had prior knowledge of his plans, was stripped of the Jerusalem residency permit she had been granted and lost her healthcare insurance. In response, Abu Jamal sued the state, taking Muhammad Allyan as her legal counsel.

Allyan himself is the father of Bahaa Allyan, one of two terrorists responsible for the October 2015 bus attack in the Armon HaNatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem that left three Israelis dead.

During the awards ceremony, Allyan gave a hate-filled speech against the “occupation forces” who, he said, “executed” Ghassan without a trial and then went to his house and turned it upside down while searching it. “The torture did not stop at this point but continued and intensified until it was no longer bearable,” he said, “as Nadia was informed that occupation authorities would demolish her family home.”

Son Murders, Father Gets Money and Prizes

As reported by Israel Hayom, Meirav Hajaj, whose daughter Lt. Shir Hajaj was murdered in the Armon HaNatziv attack, was furious when she learned of the prize. “The son committed murder and the father receives money and prizes. He has become a public figure who leads fights against Israel instead of fearing for his status in the state. This is unreasonable. This is intolerable,” she said.

The award Allyan received is an annual one given as part of the International Human Rights Competition for Lawyers, sponsored by the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace and the Caen Memorial for Peace.  The event, held at Al-Quds University in Abu Dis, was attended by government representatives of numerous countries, including the consul-general of France in Jerusalem, French MPs, and diplomats from Canada and Belgium.
