Another Palestinian has died in a Hamas terror tunnel.
A Palestinian terror operative was killed in Gaza on Monday when the terror tunnel he was working in collapsed.
Hamas named the terrorist as Anas Abu Mousa Shawish, 20, of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
Hamas “reaffirms the commitment and determination to continue the resistance against the belligerent occupation forces,” it stated.
Two others were reportedly injured in the collapse.
Egyptian operations against the tunnels and possible Israeli involvement were indicated as likely causes for the tunnel’s collapse.
Hamas is reportedly having a difficult time contending with the repeated loss of the tunnels and workers.
The terror organization employs over 1,000 Gaza residents to dig its cross-border tunnels and spends hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly in wages. Each digger receives $300-400 a month.
Hamas spends some $40 million of its $100 million military budget on tunnel construction, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources.
An Israeli official estimated last July that Hamas digs some six miles of tunnels every month.
Hamas has built a sophisticated network of tunnels used to penetrate Israel to carry out terror attacks against civilians and soldiers and to smuggle goods and weapons in and out of Gaza through the Sinai Peninsula.
