Hezbollah terrorists launched roughly 320 rockets towards northern Israel Sunday morning, shortly after Israeli forces bombed numerous rocket and missile arsenals and launching sites used by the Iranian-backed terror group in southern Lebanon.

Roughly one hundred Israeli warplanes began striking Hezbollah missile and rocket launchers and storage facilities across southern Lebanon at just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday, as part of a pre-emptive strike prior to an impending Hezbollah attack, the IDF said.

“This follows more than 6,700 rockets, missiles and explosive (drones) fired by Hezbollah at Israeli families, homes and communities since Oct. 8,”  Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said.

Israel claimed that Hezbollah had planned to strike major strategic targets in northern and central Israel, reportedly including the headquarters of the IDF’s elite 8200 intelligence unit and Mossad headquarters in Glilot, along with strikes on Ben-Gurion International Airport, Israel’s largest air travel hub.

“We are operating in self-defense against Hezbollah—and any other enemy that joins in their attacks against us—and we are ready to do everything we need to defend the people of Israel,” the Israeli military said.

Shortly after the Israeli strikes began, Hezbollah terrorists launched a massive barrage of hundreds of rockets at 11 targets across northern Israel.

The terrorist group claimed it had launched some 320 rockets and suicide drones into Israeli territory, linking the attacks to the assassination of senior Hezbollah terrorist Fuad Shukr in an IDF airstrike in Beirut last month.

“As part of the first phase of the retaliation to the Israeli attack on Dahieh [in Beirut] that resulted in the death of Fuad Shukr and others, including women and children, Hezbollah initiated an air strike using a large number of drones deep inside Israel, targeting a military site that will be disclosed later,” Hezbollah said.

Hezbollah further stated that its retaliatory attacks were “concluded for today,” with the organization’s chief, Hassan Nasrallah set to deliver an address later on Sunday.
