Iranian president: Trump’s opposition to nuclear deal ‘only propaganda’

Iran’s president says he doubts that Trump could rescind what the US president-elect has referred to as “the worst deal ever signed.”

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated previously expressed doubts on Tuesday regarding US president-elect Donald Trump’s ability to unilaterally rescind the nuclear agreement negotiated between Iran and the P5+1 powers.

“The president elect has shown he is not happy about the nuclear deal, calling it the worst deal ever signed,” acknowledged Rouhani. “This is only propaganda. I don’t think he can do much when he goes to the White House.”

“I am optimistic about the future of the nuclear deal,” Rouhani stated.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CBS in December that he has five suggestions for Trump in order to successfully undo the deal. Israel’s national intelligence agency, the Mossad, has already conducted a security briefing with Trump’s team on the Iran nuclear agreement along with other regional issues.

Several diplomats working for the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) warned in December that the Islamic Republic will soon have enough nuclear power to make a nuclear bomb if it does not slow down its uranium enrichment.
