Iranians in Nairobi charged with plotting attack on Israeli embassy

Two Iranians were charged with planning a terror attack against the Israeli embassy in Nairobi.

Two Iranian men, Sayed Nasrollah Ebrahim and Abdolhosein Gholi Safaee, were charged Thursday in a Nairobi court with collecting information in order to carry out a terror attack.

Employees of the Iranian embassy, they were arrested Tuesday while traveling in an Iranian diplomatic car on return from Kamiti Prison, where they had two other Iranians who are serving 15 years on charges of terror.

According to prosecutor Duncan Ondimu, Ebrahi and Safaee were using a mobile phone to photograph restricted areas before being stopped by police.

Video footage of the Israeli embassy was discovered on their person.

Moses Kaya Mmboga, a citizen of Kenya working as a driver for the Iranian embassy, was also charged for “abetting terrorism.”

The Iranian embassy in Nairobi refused to comment on the incident.
