ISIS threatens China with rivers of blood

ISIS released a video in which Chinese Muslims threaten to “shed blood like rivers” in the world’s most populous country.

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group on Monday released a video in which Chinese Muslims threaten to “shed blood like rivers” in the East Asian country.

The 30-minute video shows Uighur Muslim fighters in training, including heavily armed children, interspersed with images from inside the ethnic minority’s homeland of Xinjiang, the UK’s Independent reported on Wednesday.

In the video, moments before executing an alleged informant, a terrorist issues the group’s first direct threat to China.

“Oh, you Chinese who do not understand what people say! We are the soldiers of the Caliphate, and we will come to you to clarify to you with the tongues of our weapons, to shed blood like rivers and avenging the oppressed,” the terrorist states, according to a translation of the clip by the SITE intelligence group.

Following the video’s release, China’s Foreign Ministry said it wanted to work with the international community to fight Uighur Muslim terrorists.

China is worried that Uighurs have gone to Syria and Iraq to fight for ISIS there and that they will return home at some point, equipped with knowledge and battle experience.

ISIS has previously released a propaganda song in Mandarin in the hopes of recruiting Chinese Muslims to its ranks.

The group claimed responsibility for the murder of a Chinese hostage in 2015.

Hundreds of people have been killed in Xinjiang in the past few years, mostly during unrest between Uighurs and the ethnic majority Han Chinese. The government blames the situation on Islamist agitators.

Foreign elements have stirred up tensions in Xinjiang, where it faces a determined campaign by separatists who want to establish an independent state called East Turkestan, the Chinese government charges.
