A man suspected of links to Islamic terrorism shot two police officers on the French island of Reunion in an incident under investigation by national counter-terrorism prosecutors.The regional administration for the Indian Ocean island said in a statement that the two officers from a special national police intervention force were shot Thursday while trying to arrest “a dangerous individual.”The terrorist was subdued and arrested. He was described as a man in his twenties believed to be a recent Islamic convert.The Paris prosecutor’s office said anti-terrorism prosecutors took over the investigation.Administration spokeswoman, Michelle Thomas, said the police officers’ injuries were not life-threatening.France’s police union Unite SGP POLICE-FO said it was “deeply shocked and angry after this new attack”.Réunion is an island and region of France in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and 175 kilometers (109 mi) southwest of Mauritius, on the east African coast.A jihadist network was taken down in Reunion in June 2015.
