Israel arrests suspected Temple Mount terror accomplice

The investigation into the Temple Mount terror attack and recent arrest reveal a deep connection with the outlawed Islamic Movement in Israel.

Israel’s security forces have recently arrested an Arab with Israeli citizenship, a resident from Umm al-Fahm, in connection with July’s deadly terror attack which left two Israel police officers dead.

The suspect, Amjad Muhammad Jabarin, 35, is suspected of helping three of his relatives in preparing and committing the terror attack.

On July 14, Muhammad Ahmed Muhammad Jabarin, 29, Muhammad Hamad Abdel Latif Jabarin, 19, and Muhammad Ahmed Mafdal Jabarin, 19, cousins and residents of Umm al-Fahm, carried out a terror attack at the entrance to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The attack resulted with the death two Israeli Druze police officers, Master Sgt. Kamil Shnaan and Master Sgt. Haiel Sitawe.

Weapon Hidden in Local Mosque

Jabarin is suspected of knowing about the pending attack and the preparations for it, but did nothing to stop them or notify the authorities.

The weapon used in the attack was hidden in a local Umm al-Fahm mosque prior to the attack.

Jabarin drove the terror cell to the Temple Mount on the day of the attack. He also participated in weapons-training conducted by the terror cell.

He will be charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism and support of an act of terrorism.

‘False Incitement Campaign’ Has Led to Terror

The investigation further revealed that the terror cell, a local organization, was in contact with and inspired by Islamist movements, including the illegal Northern Wing of the Islamic Movement in Israel and Hamas elements.

Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Northern Wing of the Islamic Movement in Israel, was arrested by Israeli security forces last Tuesday on charges of incitement. Salah eulogized the three terrorists during their funeral, which was attended by 10,000 Israeli Arabs who gave a celebrity funeral to the terrorists. He is suspected on inciting terror during his sermon.

Responding to the arrests, Minister of Internal Security Gilad Erdan stated on Thursday that the move to outlaw the Northern Wing of the Islamic Movement in Israel was justified. The investigation demonstrates how Salah’s “lowly and false incitement campaign” has led to acts of terror, he added.

“I hope the court sends Jabarin and the inciting Raed Salah to many years in prison,” Erdan stated.
