Israel demolishes terrorist’s home; victim’s widow demands death penalty

Israeli forces demolished the home of a Palestinian terrorist who murdered a father and his two children, but the victim’s widow is demanding his execution.

Israeli forces early Wednesday morning demolished the home of a Palestinian terrorist who murdered three Israeli family members.

The IDF said in a statement that, acting in accordance with directives from the government, it destroyed the home of Omar al-Abed in the Palestinian village of Kubar.

On July 21, al-Abed infiltrated the Salomon home in Halamish and fatally stabbed Yosef Salomon, 70, and his children Chaya Salomon, 46, and Elad Salomon, 36. Yosef’s wife Tova, 68, was seriously wounded.

The brutal attack occurred as the family was gathered around the table for a festive Sabbath meal and to celebrate the birth of a new grandson.

Al-Abed, who was shot and neutralized during the attack by a soldier on furlough, will soon stand trial.

‘My Home Has Been Destroyed Forever’

Responding to the news, Michal Salomon, who lost her husband, sister-in-law and father-in-law in the attack, called for the death penalty for the terrorist, or at least bare minimum prison conditions for terrorists.

“They [the terrorist’s family] can rebuild their house, but my home has been destroyed forever. We need capital punishment – or at least radically more difficult prison conditions to prevent them from receiving anything above the bare minimum – so these terrorists cannot rebuild their homes,” Salomon told Israel Radio.

“They murdered people, and they must be punished,” Salomon said. “They don’t deserve a pension that we pay for.”

The demolition of terrorists’ homes is meant to serve as deterrence for potential terrorists plotting future attacks. The recent wave of Palestinian terror has claimed the lives of 55 victims in almost two years.

On Tuesday, Israeli police announced that they have begun to investigate five members of the al-Abed family on suspicion that they knew of the perpetrator’s intentions to commit a terrorist attack but did nothing about it. Al-Abed’s father, mother, two brothers and an uncle were arrested in the past week.
