A Holocaust survivor, in his mid 80s, shot at two intruders who invaded his home at Beit Yitzchak, in central Israel, late Monday night.The two intruders, Palestinians in their 30s from Tul Karem, were wounded by the shots, and one of them subsequently succumbed to his wounds.The second intruder was taken to a hospital in serious condition.Initial police findings show that the intruders were armed with an ax and rocks.One of the suspects has already served time for home invasions.The shooter was taken to a police station to give a statement and was later released. He told the investigators that he felt his life was in danger.He is expected to be protected by the 2008 Shai Dromi Law, which stipulates that shooting home invaders is generally justified.Police have launched an investigation into the incident.Local residents told Israeli media that they have repeatedly been the target of such robberies, that they live in constant fear, and that such an event was bound to happen.By: Aryeh Savir, World Israel News Crime
