Rapper Kanye West praised Senior Trump adviser Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, on Tuesday, shortly after the signing of the Abraham Accords between Israel, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
West has supported Trump in the past. In April 2018, he tweeted “We are both dragon energy.”
“You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him,” he said in the same tweet.
However, in a July 8 interview with Forbes magazine, West said he no longer supports the president. “I am taking the red hat off with this interview,” he said. West announced his own candidacy for president in a July 4 tweet.
But the Middle East achievement led to West giving kudos to the administration once again.
“Jared Kushner will have done more for peace in the Middle East than anyone in 30 years,” he tweeted.
Kushner has played a lead role in Middle East negotiations and in developing the Trump administration’s “Peace to Prosperity” plan to solve the Palestinian problem.
Trump himself has been nominated at least twice for the Nobel Prize for his administration’s success in advancing peace even though the Palestinians remain a tough nut to crack and have rejected the president’s overtures, cutting off ties after Trump announced he was moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem in December 2017.
The Palestinian leadership has kept up its rejectionism since then. When Serbia and Kosovo recently announced that they, too, would move their embassies to Israel’s capital, PLO Executive Committee Secretary-General Saeb Erekat tweeted on September 6, “Palestine will sever its relations with any country that will move or open its embassy to Jerusalem.”
However, the Trump administration went around the Palestinians, capitalizing on the Arab countries’ weariness with having their diplomatic hands tied by a Palestinian veto that prevented them from normalizing ties with Israel.
