Newly elected Palestinian officials openly push anti-American, pro-terror propaganda

Newly elected Palestinian Authority officials denounce America as the “great Satan” while lauding terrorists who massacred civilians.

A cadre of recently elected Palestinian Authority officials have openly pushed anti-American and pro-terrorist messages while glorifying terrorist murderers and encouraging acts of violence against Israelis, a report published on Wednesday revealed.

The report was compiled by the research department of the Yesha Council, an umbrella group representing all Israeli municipalities in Judea and Samaria.

On April 25, the Palestinian Authority held local elections across Judea and Samaria, as well as in a limited number of communities in the Gaza Strip.

While the elections were dominated by candidates aligned with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, often presented as a moderate, a number of officials elected last month have promoted not only anti-Israel rhetoric but also messages sharply critical of the United States, in some cases echoing language used by the Iranian regime.

In Hebron, for instance, the new city council member Moamar Youssef al-Oweiwi has repeatedly published social media posts attacking the United States and accusing Washington of using Israel as a tool against the Arab world, denouncing the US as the “great Satan.”

One post cited in the report said the United States views Israel as “a forward shield and a stick in its hand to subdue the Arabs.”

Another post by Oweiwi accused “the occupation state, with the support of the great Satan — America,” of trying to portray Palestinians as incapable of managing their own affairs or choosing their leadership.

Elsewhere, Oweiwi directly addressed Washington after the Oct. 7 attacks.

“You acted immediately with your fleets, aircraft carriers and money to save Israel from collapse after the events of Oct. 7.”

The post went on to accuse the US of supporting “the killing of children, women, the elderly and young people,” and said America faced two choices: “the complete extermination of the Palestinian people” or “the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state with full sovereignty on the 1967 borders.”

Oweiwi also published content praising terrorists, including a memorial post for Dalal Mughrabi, who led the 1978 Coastal Road massacre in which dozens of Israelis were killed.

In Jericho, Mayor Salem Ghrouf took part in rallies supporting jailed terrorists and posted social media comments backing terrorists released from Israeli jails.

At one rally, Ghrouf said that “the prisoners’ issue is the headline of the struggle for freedom.”

In Jenin, the report said newly elected mayor Mohammed Jarrar received support from the Jarrar clan, whose official website commemorates terrorist-linked family members described as “martyrs” and praises terrorist relatives who carried out attacks against Israel.

Yesha Council Director-General Omer Rahamim said the findings showed that anti-Israel and anti-American incitement was being promoted by officially elected representatives, not only by armed groups.

“The investigation reveals an inconceivable reality,” Rahamim said. “The mayors who were elected are mayors who run authorities 10 minutes from Kfar Saba and 20 minutes from Modiin and are engaged in glorifying terrorism and calls for the destruction of Israel.”

“This is not a distant enemy, but official elected representatives who give a tailwind to terrorists just around the corner,” he added. “The State of Israel must stop closing its eyes to this mechanism of incitement.”

Rahamim said the Palestinian Authority could not be treated as a peace partner while such officials hold office.

“Whoever legitimizes the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ in the heart of Israel proves again that the Palestinian Authority is an existential danger and not a partner,” he said.
