Local residents reported that IDF Iron Dome batteries downed at least one rocket near Sderot.

Two people were injured by shrapnel as result of the rocket attack, reported the Jerusalem Post, as scraps from an Iron Dome missile landed in Sderot.

Magen David Adom rescue services announced that the two victims were taken to Barzilai Medical Center for treatment.

Eight other civilians were treated for stress related to the attack, including 2 pregnant woman, reported the Post.

Soon after the attack, footage of Israeli families running for cover emerged, punctuated by a thunderous explosion connected to the rockets.

The incident capped a day of tension in the Gaza Belt region, a day after IDF tanks shelled a Hamas guardpost after mistaking a training exercise for aggression directed towards Israel.

Earlier Wednesday, the IDF identified Hamas operatives evacuating bases and outposts, leading officials to close roads adjacent to the border fence out of concerns that a cross-border could be imminent.

Also Wednesday, Palestinians opened fire at civilian work crews working along the northern section of the Gaza Strip. One vehicle was hit, the IDF Spokesman’s Unit said; IDF tanks responded by attacking a Hamas position in the region.

Paramedics administered first aid to a 50-year-old man who was lightly injured by glass shards, as well as to several individuals who were suffering from shock.

Meanwhile, Israeli firefighters battled two fires caused by gas balloons that exploded when the homes were hit by rocket fire.

Code Red alarms sounded in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council, with at least eight rockets fired at Israel.
