Palestinian shooting attack in Samaria, no injuries

Palestinian terrorists shot at an Israeli vehicle in Samaria. No Israelis were harmed in the attack.

Palestinian terrorists on Tuesday morning carried out a drive-by shooting attack against Israelis near the community of Na’ama, in Samaria.

No one was harmed in the attack. The vehicle in which the Israelis were traveling was damaged.

Nine-millimeter bullet casings were found at the scene of the attack.

IDF soldiers from the Binyamin Regional Brigade launched a manhunt for the terrorists.

In related news, Israeli security forces carried out counter-terrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria on Monday night, during which 11 Palestinians linked to terrorism were arrested.

Israel’s security establishment is on high alert following the daily Hamas-led violence on the Gaza border, and because of the commencement of the Muslim month of Ramadan, which usually brings to a rise in religious-motivated violence by Palestinians against Israelis.

IDF: No specific security alerts in Judea and Samaria

Though there are no specific security alerts, the IDF said last week that it was reinforcing its ground troops in Judea, Samaria and greater Jerusalem out of concern that Hamas and other terrorist groups will try to incite Palestinians to carry out terrorist attacks.

The IDF estimated last week that the chances were low that one of the institutionalized terrorist infrastructures operating on the West Bank would carry out an attack.

However, incitement by Palestinian media outlets and on social media coupled with the month of Ramadan — which tends to unite the Palestinian society against Israel — is liable to lead to “lone wolf” attacks. Further exacerbating the situation is the fasting, which adds to the already tense situation created by the Hamas-led violence in Gaza.

Hamas has called on Palestinians living on the West Bank and in Jerusalem to join in the rioting. However, this call has so far largely been left unanswered.
