By: Aryeh Savir, World Israel NewsA Palestinian terrorist was shot and wounded in Jerusalem on Monday while attempting to attack an Israeli security guard. No one else was hurt in the incident.Initial reports indicate that a 35-year-old Palestinian attacked a member of the security detail that guards Jerusalem’s light rail tram. Security forces shot him in the foot and overpowered him.The terrorist was evacuated to Hadassah Medical Center with light injuries to his ankle.Police have launched an investigation into the case.Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld labeled the incident as a terror attack. “The suspect tried to stab a number of people and was shot by private security guards nearby,” he said.French Hill, the neighborhood in Jerusalem where the incident occurred, has been the site of several recent terror attacks. The most recent occurred on April 16, when an Arab rammed his car into two Israelis sitting at a bus stop, killing Shalom Cherki, 25, and critically wounding Shira Klein, 20.In March, on Purim, an Arab drove his car into a group of Israelis, wounding six. The terrorist was shot and killed by security forces.In November, an Arab ran his truck into Israelis, killing one border police officer and injuring 13 others. He, too, was eliminated by Israeli security forces.In October, two Israelis, including a three-month-old baby, were run down and murdered by an Arab terrorist.Minister of Internal Security Yitzchak Aharonovich said last week that in his estimation, the Palestinian terror that has been plaguing Jerusalem will persist.
