Prestigious Spanish soccer club honors Palestinian teen promoting anti-Israel violence

Ahed Tamimi, a Palestinian anti-Israel teenage activist who recently completed an eight-month sentence in an Israeli prison for slapping and kicking an IDF soldier in December 2017, was welcomed to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium by the Real Madrid soccer club on Friday, reported Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

“Along with her family, the teenager has been spending time in Spain this week and has taken part in several political and social events,” Marca said.

Read Madrid football legend Emilio Butragueno welcomed Tamimi at the Bernabeu, where he presented her with a shirt with her name and the No.9 printed on the back.

“The prestigious soccer club of Real Madrid embraces a terrorist inciting to hatred and violence. Shameful,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon tweeted.

“Ahed Tamimi is promoting violence against Israeli citizens. @realmadrid-receiving a terrorist that incites hatred and violence is something that has nothing to do with universal football values,” he added.

In an interview with AP upon her release from jail, Tamimi , who has praised the Hezbollah terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah, said she wants to become be the “new face of Palestinian resistance” and expects to have a “political future.” She is currently on a speaking tour in Europe with her father, Bassem Tamimi, who has traveled abroad to promote an anti-Israel agenda.

In 2011, Bassem Tamimi he was convicted and jailed for inciting minors to commit violent crimes when he was caught organizing children in his village of Nabi Saleh, where the family lives, to march towards the neighboring Israeli community of Halamish and throw stones.
