Priebus had reportedly opposed hiring Scaramucci for various administration positions.Priebus told The Associated Press that he and Scaramucci are “very good friends.” He said its “all good here” at the White House.White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took Spicer’s place. Sanders is the daughter of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Like her father, she is an Evangelical Christian.Spicer announced his departure after President Donald Trump hired a new White House communications director, ending his rocky six-month tenure as Trump’s top spokesman. He said it’s been “an honor” and a “privilege” to serve Trump and the country.Spicer said during a brief phone conversation with AP following his announced departure, “we’re at the point where” the president “could benefit from a clean slate.” It would be best for Scaramucci to be able to build his own operation “and chart a new way forward,” he said.Read America's next ambassador to Israel backs annexation of Judea and Samaria“It’ll be great, he’s a tough guy,” Spicer said of Scaramucci’s hiring.Trump said in a statement read by Sanders that he’s “grateful” for Spicer’s “work on behalf of my administration and the American people.”“Just look at his great television ratings!” he added.Scaramucci addressed reporters at the White House and called Spicer “a true American patriot.” The New York financier repeatedly declared his loyalty to Trump.He also pushed back against the notion that the White House remains adrift six months into Trump’s term.
