Syria’s state news agency SANA (Syrian Arab News Agency) claimed that Israel’s military was responsible for a number of reported explosions early Friday morning at the al-Mezzeh airport, just west of the Syrian capital of Damascus.“The air force of the Israeli enemy hit al-Mezzeh military airport west of Damascus just after midnight,” the agency reported. “A military source told SANA that several missiles were fired from the Lake Tiberias area and landed in the surroundings of al-Mezzeh airport at 12:25 after midnight, causing a fire to erupt.”The report also said that the Syrian army warned Israel of “repercussions” for the alleged missile strike.“The General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces has warned the Israeli enemy of the repercussions of this ‘flagrant attack,’ said the source.”Another alleged Israeli strike on the al-Mezzeh airport reportedly occurred in early December. Israel’s policy is to neither confirm nor deny any alleged military operations in Syria. However, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman recently made it clear that Israel has acted and will continue to act in order to stop the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah from acquiring advanced weapons and chemical weapons from the Syrian government.Read IDF discovers Hezbollah tunnel and plans to launch an Oct 7th-style attack into IsraelBy: Jonathan Benedek, World Israel News HezbollahIDFSyria
