By Batya Jerenberg, World Israel News

The largest Jewish umbrella group in the U.S. was charged last week with “betraying” the Jewish people for defunding an antisemitism watchdog after it released a video stating that the extreme Left promotes Jew hatred in the United States.

“This cowardly act demonstrates just how conflicted Jewish leadership is,” coexistence promoter Americans for Peace and Tolerance wrote in an action call to its members regarding the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) withdrawing support from the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM).

“Jews are being defamed and besieged by the radical Left, especially on college campuses and in Congress,” the missive continued. “Yet, a major Jewish leader, representing the interests of an entire continent’s Jews, is trying to stop Jewish activists for speaking the truth about poisonous leftist ideology.”

“The Jewish establishment seems more loyal to progressive ideology than to the safety of Jews. By refusing to confront those growing elements in the Democratic Party that are turning against Israel, they reveal their true agenda and priorities: ‘Support the Left’ comes before ‘Save the Jews,’” the organization continued.

On Monday, the coexistence group’s head, Charles Jacob, blamed the fear of losing funding for the organization’s stance.

“The American Jewish establishment is just trapped,” Jacob told World Israel News. “They chose to be allied with the Democrats who are being overtaken by radical leftist woke ideology that is inherently anti-Jewish. Even a man like Fingerhut, who surely knows that woke antisemitism is very dangerous, decides that he cannot afford to lose his left-leaning donors who are themselves a bit woke.”

The Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA), a national liberal public policy group, also withdrew its support, telling Jewish newspaper the Forward that the video, called “What is Woke Antisemitism?” was “deeply disturbing and concerning.”

Its CEO, Amy Spitalnick, seemed to question CAM’s claim of non-partisanship, saying, “The video didn’t come out of nowhere, and I’d like to understand what CAM will be doing moving forward.”

The clip explained that the basis of woke-ism is that “Successful groups are considered oppressors and less successful groups as oppressed victims. Unfortunately, this labeling has led to unfair vilification of successful groups, including Jews.”

The “binary” nature of its argument “often simplifies complex issues” such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and automatically categorizes Israelis as the oppressors, the video added.

Rejecting its claim that there is a connection between the rise of woke-ism and the increase in antisemitism in the U.S., the Forward’s article also criticized the three-minute video, saying that it was “unusual” to see condemnations of a progressive worldview — including a focus on systemic forms of discrimination in society — as a major cause of antisemitism.”

Many ultra-liberal Jewish organizations have been quick to point a finger at far-right groups that peddle antisemitic tropes, but do not call out the extreme left when it does the same.

Although CAM says it has some 700 partners in its fight against Jew hatred, the group backed down in the face of the two liberal groups’ opposition. It removed the three-minute video from YouTube and CAM head Sacha Roytman Dratwa told JTA that “We are reviewing the content to make something that will appeal to a broader audience.”

By Associated Press

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki criticized U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday for moving too slowly to reverse all of the Trump administration’s allegedly adverse policies against the Palestinians and not using Washington’s special relationship to pressure Israel to abandon “its rejection of a two-state solution and peace negotiations.”

Malki told the U.N. Security Council there were hopes that the end of Donald Trump’s administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government “would be enough to pave the way for renewed momentum for peace.”

But while the Biden administration reversed several Trump policies, he said it has been slow to act, especially on its commitment to reopen the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem for Palestinians.

The U.S. “has yet to ensure the current Israeli government renounces its colonial policies and abandons its rejection of the two-state solution and peace negotiations. This is an unacceptable stance that should neither be tolerated nor excused and must be reversed,” Malki said, despite the Biden administration’s embracing of the Palestinians by restoring aid and diplomatic contacts.

Malki said he had “a very open, frank discussion” earlier Wednesday with U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, including on U.S.-Palestinian relations, the peace process, Palestinian expectations from the U.S. and “what they are trying to do in the near future in order to see things moving forward in the right direction.”

He said the Palestinians are engaging with the U.S. administration about possible ways to eliminate restrictions imposed by Congress on reopening the Palestinian diplomatic mission in Washington.

US affirms ‘strong support for a two-state solution’

Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Gilad Erdan accused Malki of making “regurgitated accusations and baseless claims” and of ignoring the more than 200 “terror attacks” carried out by Palestinians against Israel in the last month.

These included 143 rock-throwing attacks, Erdan said as he held up a large rock, as well as 20 attacks using grenades and Molotov cocktails.

Malki called on the Security Council to take urgent action to resolve the decades-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict and save the two-state solution.

“Absent this sense of urgency, prepare yourself to attend the funeral of this solution, with all the consequences of such a death for the lives of millions of people, Palestinians and others,” Malki warned.

Malki urged support for an international peace conference and echoed Russia’s call for a ministerial meeting of the Quartet of Mideast mediators — the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia — “as soon as possible to mobilize efforts to get out from the current impasse.”

He said the UN, EU and Russia have agreed to a ministerial meeting but “we’re still waiting for the approval of the American side.” He said the three other Quartet members should convince the U.S. about the importance of a ministerial meeting to move the Middle East peace process forward.

Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. ambassador, made no mention of the meeting with Malki or the Quartet in her briefing to the council, but she reaffirmed the Biden administration’s “strong support for a two-state solution” and said “this year offers an opportunity to recommit to reaching a political solution to the conflict.”

To make progress, Thomas-Greenfield said both Israel and the Palestinians must refrain from unilateral steps that increase tensions and undercut efforts toward a two-state solution.

Israel’s Erdan accused the Security Council of “hypocrisy” and said when the world and the council, in particular, applies its “moral compass correctly, then we may well find the path to peace.”

By World Israel News Staff

Boston University is on the verge of hiring a rabid anti-Semitic and anti-Israel professor, reports Arutz Sheva.

According to the report, the university hasn’t officially hired Sarah Ihmoud but is on the brink of doing so.

Ihmoud is a Postdoctoral Associate in Anthropology and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. She specializes in gendered experiences of militarization and violence in colonial and conflict contexts.

In 2017, Tadween Publishing released an academic collection of research papers called ‘Settler Colonialism’, in which Ilham co-writes a chapter called ‘Sexual Violence, Women’s Bodies, and Israeli Settler Colonialism’.

In the chapter, Ihmoud’s anti-Semitic and anti-Israel views are on full display.

“Early Zionist leadership attempted to actualize the foundational Zionist myth of a ‘land without people for a people without land’ through systematic ethnic cleansing of indigenous Palestinians in 1948. The Zionist entity continues to evict native Palestinians today. The massacres in Gaza of July-August 2014, and the repressive ‘iron fist’ policies targeting Palestinian Jerusalemites at the time we write this article, are contemporary modes of settler-colonial eviction of the Palestinian native,” she writes.

Mahmoud claims that brutality and sexual violence are regularly used by the IDF as a means to control the Palestinian people.

“The rape of the land as the rape of women’s bodies has thus come to the fore in Israel’s most recent eliminatory attacks against the Palestinian people. As the massacres of the Palestinian people in Gaza continued, the sexualized nature of Israeli invasion and racial terror against Palestinian natives came to the forefront of nationalist politics and discussion among the public sphere within 1948 Palestine as well,” she says.

“The legalization of such forms of violence marks the Israeli legal system itself as deeply embedded in the settler-colonial project’s machinery of elimination.”

She also claims that Israel sees the Palestinians as a”biopolitical contaminant” that needs to be “purified” through physical and sexual violence.

Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT), an organization that seeks to expose the radical ideologies at America’s universities that threaten academic integrity, did a thorough examination of Ihmoud’s claims.

They found that none of her claims are supported by evidence.

“The claims made are false,” APT said.”The paper, like all of Ihmoud’s writings, is not simply anti-Israeli, it is blatantly anti-Semitic and unsupported by any facts and does not merit ‘academic scholarship’ status.”
