An anti-Israel student group operating under the name Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) posted “Death to America” on X on Saturday following reports that the U.S. and Israel had eliminated Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The phrase was written in an English transliteration of the Persian phrase commonly chanted at demonstrations in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

When the social media site took down the post, the group defiantly wrote, “X forced us to delete our “marg bar amrika” tweet in order to gain back access to our account but the sentiment still stands.”

The account was subsequently taken down.

Columbia University distanced itself from the organization, stating that CUAD “is not a recognized student group, or affiliated in any way with the University,” and charged that it was using the school’s name illegally.

In a later statement, Columbia condemned the post’s “violent, abhorrent language,” calling it “reprehensible.”

Columbia said it had revoked the group’s recognition in July and is exploring legal options to prevent the continued use of its name.

The university added that no recognized student organizations are currently affiliated with CUAD, following warnings that groups maintaining ties would lose funding and campus privileges.

During the war in Gaza, more than 80 student organizations had reportedly been affiliated with the umbrella group.

CUAD was a leading organizer of anti-Israel encampments on Columbia’s campus during the war, protests that drew national attention for protesters’ illegal occupation of school buildings and numerous reports by Jewish students of concurrent verbal and physical abuse they suffered on campus.

The group was also involved in a demonstration calling for violence against Jews outside a New York synagogue last November.

Small anti-war rallies protesting the American airstrikes on Iran, known as “Operation Epic Fury,” have been held in cities including New York, Chicago, Denver and Washington, D.C.

There have also been demonstrations, both in the US and in Europe, some led by Iranian expatriates, where the participants chanted “thank you” to both US President Donald Trump and to Israel for targeting the Islamic regime in general, and assassinating Khamenei in particular.

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas, especially when it comes to high-profile festival drama.

Last Tuesday, Neon City Festival promoters proudly unveiled their star-studded lineup, with Grammy-winning rapper Macklemore featured among the headliners. By Monday, his name had vanished without a trace, leaving fans and industry insiders scrambling for answers.

Neon City organizers have remained tight-lipped, citing only “unforeseen circumstances” in a public statement for Macklemore’s sudden departure.

However, sources close to the festival cited by Digital Music News point to a controversial performance Macklemore gave Saturday night.

At a pro-Palestinian benefit concert in Seattle, the “Thrift Shop” singer let loose with a sharp “f—k America” during his set. While political statements from artists are nothing new, this one seems to have struck a nerve.

The antisemitic rapper himself finally broke his silence yesterday with a lengthy social media post on X. While stopping short of a full apology, Macklemore admitted to getting “caught in the moment” while performing.

“My thoughts and feelings are not always expressed perfectly or politely,” he wrote. “Sometimes I slip up and get caught in the moment. Saturday night was one of those times.”

“But do not misconstrue the word ‘f—k’ for the word ‘hate.’ It’s different to be angry than to disown,” Macklemore continued. “I’ve lost endorsements, I’ve lost business ties. I am still here, unwavering in my support for a Free Palestine.”

Out of all the antisemitic A-listers spreading misinformation, Macklemore has been particularly harsh on Israel’s defensive war in Gaza.

Just mere weeks after Hamas murdered 1,200 innocents in Israel on October 7, he signed a star-studded open letter calling for a ceasefire without preconditions.

In May, he released a protest song titled “Hind’s Hall,” ironically in support of the same violent campus takeovers being fought by congressional leaders in the Senate this week.

Say what you will about President Jimmy Carter, but even America’s most progressive president until Barack Obama and Joe Biden understood you do not arm enemies. After Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, he canceled the sale of Grumman F-14 Tomcats, refusing to deliver those still in production or to return the jets and Iranian pilots training in the United States.

Biden has no such sense. The U.S. may define Turkey as an ally out of diplomatic nicety, but President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s full-throated anti-Americanism, embrace of Hamas, willingness to extort NATO over Sweden and Finland’s membership, efforts to help Russia evade sanctions, ethnic cleansing of Kurdish districts in Syria, persistent bombing of Iraq, challenges to Cypriot unity and waters, irredentist claims toward Greece, attacks on protesters in Washington, and logistical support for the Islamic State group are all reasons that individually should disqualify Turkey from receiving F-16s, let alone the next generation F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Yet that is exactly what the Biden administration now proposes doing. Lena Argiri, Washington correspondent for the Greek daily Kathimerini, reports that during their visit to Ankara, Turkey, in early July, Celeste Wallander, the assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, and Michael Carpenter, special adviser to the president and senior director for Europe at the National Security Council, discussed reviving the F-35 deal with their Turkish counterparts.

Turkey has so far refused and said it would just keep them unassembled and inside a box. The impasse may be temporary: Talks to revive the F-35 deal are on the agenda for the U.S. and Turkey when leaders and security officials meet this week on the sideline of the United Nations General Assembly.

The most dangerous time in foreign and defense policy is when an administration becomes lame duck. Presidents who face no election feel unencumbered by accountability.

Too many ambassadors and assistant secretaries, meanwhile, see furthering commercial deals as an inside track to beginning a second career with energy and defense companies.

Such trading on access is unethical and hard to prove, but it happens frequently. Just ask almost any ambassador to Saudi Arabia or Turkey.

Call it what it has become: the zombie deal, rising from the dead. Rather than sell Turkey the F-35s, the Biden team might as well just give the aircraft to Russia and China and skip the middleman.

Reviving the F-35 deal means officials are working either for personal gain or simply to advance bad policy. The Biden team is already more reckless than most, but Biden’s own deterioration leaves room for his staffers to pursue indefensible policies.

If there is one issue about which there should be bipartisan consensus in Washington, it is that Erdogan’s Turkey is a force for instability throughout the region and does not deserve F-35s.

The White House and the Defense Department have lied to Congress. Should members of either party let them get away with it, expect the lies to accumulate among whoever takes the helm in January 2025. Congress must take its oversight seriously.

It is time to pass a law banning any aircraft or spare parts to Turkey. The White House no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. Strategically, there is no risk.

Finland, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece inside NATO and Cyprus outside can take up the defensive mantle on which Turkey cannot be trusted.

1 in 5 Muslims in America (21%) were willing to admit they supported the Oct 7 massacres.

After 9/11, elected officials told us that Islam had nothing to do with terrorism. And that accusing Muslims of supporting Islamic terrorism was a dangerous bigotry they dubbed “Islamophobia.”

In the decades since, the same speech has been delivered after every Islamic terror attack.

Now, as Muslims and leftists riot in support of Hamas, after Islamic groups and public figures from campus groups to the leader of the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) celebrated the Oct 7 atrocities, we are not allowed to suggest they support terrorism.

Even as Dearborn, Michigan became the hub of a movement to save Hamas by pressuring Biden, led by figures who had praised Hamas, an op-ed by a MEMRI counterterrorism researcher in the Wall Street Journal that warned of the degree of support for terrorism in the Muslim area was denounced by everyone from Biden on down for its “Islamophobia.”

Muslims in America, we’re told, don’t support Hamas, they just oppose Israel. Is that true?

While there were polls which showed that the vast majority of Muslims in Israel (the so-called ‘Palestinians’) support Hamas, there hasn’t been a comprehensive poll of Muslims in America.

However a recent Pew survey on the war showed that half of Muslims in America (49%) believe Hamas has “valid” reasons for attacking Israel, while the majority (54%) also reject the idea that Israel has the right to defend itself against the Islamic terrorist organization

Unlike the vast majority of Americans from all ages and backgrounds, Muslims are the only group where less than half agree that the Oct 7 murders, rapes and kidnappings were wrong.

1 in 5 Muslims in America (21%) were willing to admit they supported the Oct 7 massacres. Nearly 1 in 3 claimed to be unsure whether burning Jewish families alive in their homes was wrong.

Only 5% of Muslims in America believe that Israel’s military campaign on Hamas is acceptable while 68% of Muslims believe that Israel’s attacks on the Islamic terrorists are not acceptable.

67% of Muslims in America have an unfavorable view of the “Israeli people” (not the Israeli government which an overwhelming 86% of them oppose.)

While only 8% of Americans have a favorable view of Hamas, 1 in 3 (37%) Muslims in America are willing to admit to a favorable view of a sanctioned terrorist organization. (There are multiple reasons why some Muslims might oppose Hamas while still hating Israel, including support for the Palestinian Authority, political opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood or resentment over Hamas siding with the Sunni rebels in Syria.)

60% of Muslims in the U.S. resent that America is “favoring” Israel.

These numbers are troubling because they pose a threat not only to Israel, but to America.

Support for Islamic terrorism in one part of the world can often translate to support for terrorism elsewhere. Including in America. Hamas is an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood which has built an extensive infrastructure in America. When the Brotherhood took power in Egypt, before being removed in a popular uprising with military backing, many Muslims here rallied to support it.

Muslim Brotherhood terrorist groups operate not only in Israel or the Middle East, but around the world. Al Qaeda was formed as part of a fusion with a Muslim Brotherhood splinter group. Osama bin Laden was one of a number of Al Qaeda leaders who had been in the Brotherhood.

And the Muslim Brotherhood is on every campus in America through its student groups, it has built up organizations that control mosques and represent Muslims on Capitol Hill. Some of those organizations also did everything possible to undermine America’s war on Al Qaeda.

Now some of them are cheering on the Houthi Jihadists as they battle the U.S. Navy to sink as many ships in the Red Sea as they can. Will they also cheer on attacks against America?

The Pew numbers show quite clearly that a surprising number of Muslims are willing to express support for Islamic terrorism. How many share their views but are more circumspect about telling them to a stranger on the phone? That is something we may only find out far too late.

While 1 in 3 Muslims will admit to supporting Hamas, 1 in 2 claim that Hamas has valid reasons for attacking Israel. And hardly any believe that the victims of Islamic terrorism have the right to fight back. That is the final number that truly matters. Some Muslims will claim to reject Islamic terror, but very few are willing to actually support non-Muslims who fight back against terrorism.

While the Pew poll offers plenty of bad news about Democrats and their support for terror, this is in part driven by the growing Islamic role in the party, the media and public life. That is the phenomenon reflected in the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s ‘Election Jihad’ report which showed that Islamic activists were gaining statewide offices around the country and using their positions to defend Islamic terrorists while opposing efforts to put a stop to their violence.

Muslims in America don’t represent a range of diversity, they are clear outliers when it comes to supporting Islamic terrorism even among those groups most prone to supporting terrorists.

Over 3 times as many Muslims, as Democrats, support the Hamas atrocities of Oct 7. Twice as many Muslims as black protestants, the other group least friendly to Jews, believe Hamas has valid reasons for fighting Israel. Over twice as many Muslims, as 18-24 year olds, the most pro-Hamas age demographic, support Hamas.

These views do not represent an American range, but a dangerous un-American one.

The support for Hamas and the opposition to Israel among Muslims in America is not a reflection of American politics, but of Islamic ones. This is also true of the anti-Israel campaign. The majority of Muslims don’t just oppose Israel, but the “Israeli people”. This is not a disagreement with a particular government, but a tribal hatred of an entire people.

And that is the same genocidal hatred that Hamas and other terrorist groups have mobilized.

American Jews are shocked at the level and depth of support for the murder of Jews, but over the past decades, they (like most Americans) failed to view immigration as an urgent threat. Now that there are multiple crises, from terrorist mobs in the streets to a mass invasion at the border, some people are waking up. And that wake up call needs to turn into action.

Israel has its war at its own borders and we have ours. America is a generation away from its own Oct 7. As in Europe, a new terrorist threat is rising in our own country, not from abroad, but from a generation of Muslims and converts who were born in this country.

The Pew poll shows once more how deep the support for Islamic terrorists is not just in abstractions like the “media” or the “college campus”, but among Islamic immigrants.

If Americans and, especially, Jews, do not come to terms with that, what follows will be worse.
