More than 800 antisemitic incidents classified as “severe” were reported around the world in 2025, according to an interim report published Tuesday by Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Ministry.

The report found a dramatic increase in the number of deadly antisemitic incidents against Jews outside of Israel last year.

The interim findings, which were presented during the International Conference on Combating Antisemitism held in Jerusalem on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, showed a surge in the number of deaths in the Diaspora attributed to antisemitic attacks.

While there was one death in 2024 outside Israel that was confirmed as being the result of an antisemitic attack, 21 Jews were murdered in attacks involving antisemitism in 2025.

The fatalities included 15 deaths in a single incident, the December 14, 2025, Bondi Beach shooting in Sydney, Australia, in which a Chabad event marking the beginning of the Chanukah festival was targeted by a pair of Islamist terrorists.

In the course of less than two weeks, two deadly attacks against Jews occurred in the United States, with two Israeli embassy workers shot dead in Washington, D.C., in late May, and an 82-year-old woman killed in a firebomb attack by an Egyptian illegal immigrant at a pro-Israel event in Boulder, Colorado.

The dramatic increase in the number of deadly antisemitic attacks in 2025 contrasted with a notable decline in non-violent antisemitic incidents compared with 2024, though the Diaspora Affairs Ministry said this could reflect underreporting “or the normalization of non-violent antisemitic acts, rather than a real decline in activity.”

The ministry report documented 815 severe antisemitic incidents last year, with most of the incidents recorded in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and Canada.

There were 124 million posts on the X social media platform flagged as being antisemitic, and more than 4,000 anti-Israel demonstrations reported worldwide last year, of which 365 were classified as posing a high or extreme risk to Jewish communities.

“On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we are required not only to remember but to act,” said Diaspora Affairs Minister Chikli (Likud) at the conference. “Antisemitism is not only a Jewish problem, but a global threat that endangers the entire free world. Together, we will fight this common enemy and prevail.”

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli urges university heads to take decisive steps to rectify “toxic” environment on campus.

A senior Israeli official penned a strongly worded letter to the heads of numerous American universities, urging them to take decisive action against anti-Israel protests that have resulted in a hostile atmosphere on campus for Jewish and Israeli students.

“I am writing to you with a deep sense of urgency and outrage regarding the alarming and dangerous radical rise of antisemitism spreading throughout college campuses across the United States,” wrote Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli.

Chikli noted that since the Hamas-led October 7th terror onslaught, antisemitic incidents on college campuses have spiked by an “astonishing” 700 percent.

“This surge of antisemitism echoes the cruel treatment of Jewish university students in Germany during the 1930s,” the minister warned.

Challenging the mainstream narrative that the protesters are calling for a ceasefire, Chikli noted that the demonstrations frequently involve antisemitic and violent rhetoric.

He cited widely-documented examples of Jew hatred at the demonstrations, including incidents in which protesters held banners reading “Long Live the Intifada,” waved Hezbollah flags, and a mob harassing Jewish students by screaming at them that “October 7th will happen 10,000 more times.”

Chikli wrote that “these tropes, slogans, and symbols are not only hateful, they are extremely dangerous. We have all seen how fast these words have escalated and transformed into violent actions,” describing a recent antisemitic assault against a Jewish female UCLA student which resulted in her being hospitalized.

He said that administrators who do not take decisive action “in the face of this growing threat” are “complicit in perpetuating this toxic environment.”

He warned that “Jewish students and faculty are scared for their physical safety, they are harassed, isolated, and attacked; they are forced to hide or leave campus in fear.”

“I urge you to take a firm stand and demonstrate through actions that there is zero tolerance for antisemitism at your institution. The time is now!” he concluded.

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli (Likud) wrote letters to 20 European heads of state recently, warning them about operatives of Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in major European cities.

“Weeks have passed since the barbarism that Hamas committed against infants, children, the elderly, and thousands of Israeli citizens. This is not the time for ambiguity. I want to clarify this unequivocally. Hamas has proven that their goal is to kill Jews everywhere,” Chikli wrote.

Chikli pointed out that attacks against Jews have risen 120% since October 7th and added that the two terror groups are not just a threat to Jews, but also to Christians.

“I want to remind you that in the past, Hamas members expressed the Islamic intention to conquer Europe,” he added.

The letter was sent to representatives of the European Union and Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece and Germany.

Tzur Bar-Oz, Head of the Research and Foreign Relations Division at the Diaspora Affairs Ministry discussed the “complex network of hatred” created by Hamas in Europe with operatives ostensibly working for Palestinian charity organizations.

“This phenomenon must be uprooted and eradicated as soon as possible,” said Bar-Oz. “This activity has already yielded results and produced consequences.”

The letter featured many examples of people who seemed to be merely Palestinian activists and aid workers, but who in reality were directly involved with Hamas and in terror activities.

Many created makeshift charities that claimed to be providing humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians, however, it was later discovered that all of these funds were going to Hamas.

Proven examples of this phenomenon are Mohammed Ahmed Hanon, an Italian resident, and head of the “Charity Association for Palestinian Support” (ABSPP), Amin Abu Rashad, and Muhammad Suwala (Abu Obada), who lives in the United Kingdom as a Palestinian activist and who is connected to the military wing of Hamas.

Many of these operatives left clues, such as praising Hamas’s terror attacks on social media.
