31-year-old Tennessee man linked to the virulently anti-Jewish ‘Goyim Defense League’ arrested after attempting to force his way into a Jewish community center in Nashville while posing as a Hasidic Jew.

Nashville police arrested a neo-Nazi activist earlier this month, after he attempted to force his way into a local Jewish community center while posing as a Hasidic Jew.

On January 15th, Metro Nashville Police arrested Travis Keith Garland, a 31-year-old resident of Maryville, Tennessee, two days after he showed up at the Gordon Jewish Community Center in Nashville and demanded to speak to a local rabbi.

During the confrontation with a receptionist at the JCC, Garland, dressed up as a Hasidic Jew, refused to leave the complex, holding out his phone as if he were filming the incident.

After the receptionist informed Garland that no rabbi was present at the JCC, Garland entered a staff-only section of the building after a door was left open by several staff members, ignoring the receptionist’s calls on him to halt.

The two staff members who had passed through the door turned around to block Garland, preventing him from proceeding further until a security guard was called to the.

During the ensuing confrontation, the guard ordered Garland to leave the building, while Garland reportedly began “eyeing” the guard’s pistol, “putting him in fear that he might try to take it,” a Nashville Metro Police spokesperson said.

When police arrived on the scene, Garland downplayed the event, saying that the incident was merely an internet prank.

After the confrontation, Garland wrote about the incident on a Telegram group chat affiliated with the antisemitic Goyim Defense League, admitting that he had harassed the center’s employees.

“I wore the rabbi costume and went into their jew building harassing them … and the dude freaked out.”

According to a report by the London-based Jewish Chronicle, Garland allegedly used racist slurs agaisnt Asians and blacks.

Authorities have charged Garland with trespassing, assault, civil rights intimidation, and civil rights violations.

A county judge initially set Garland’s bail at $250,000, though he was later denied bail, after Nashville District Attorney General Glenn Funk requested that the preliminary decision to set bail be overturned.

“He attempted to enter the Gordon Jewish Community Center,” said Funk. “He ignored the directions from the front desk folks, tried to get into a secure area, had to be physically stopped.”

“For all those reasons, we are concerned for public safety. We are also concerned whether or not the person would ever come back to court.”

Groups and individuals are taking to the internet to laud the terrorists’ murder of over 1,300 Jews and encourage the destruction of Israel.

American white supremacists have been cheering the Hamas terrorist organization since its invasion of Israel Saturday, gleeful over their massacres of hundreds of Israeli men, women and children and encouraging them to kill more Jews.

The Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) Center on Extremism, which tracks antisemitism and threats to the Jewish community, has publicized many of the hateful statements they have found online.

On his livestream, Jon Minadeo, head of the Goyim Defense League, an antisemitic hate group and conspiracy theory network played one video clip after another on his livestream of the terrorists’ murders, kidnappings and assaults while laughing, dancing and applauding.

“Wow, this is awesome. This is awesome, man! I’m so stoked!” he says at one point, and calls for Lebanon and Iran to join the fight and “wipe Israel off the map.”

He calls for his audience to follow suit as well, saying, “I think we’ve got a better scenario to be honest. Let’s do this! Let’s do this! I am so pumped up! This is what I love! I love the Jews getting hit!”

The GDL has become infamous for performing antisemitic banner drops over highways, and papering neighborhoods in many states with flyers accusing Jews of everything from grooming children to causing the Covid-19 pandemic.

A neo-Nazi group called NatSoc Florida, which was founded last year and mainly targets Jews in propaganda flyers and demonstrations, posted, “The Israeli people deserve zero sympathy. F*** Israel. They deserve everything that is happening to them right now. I sincerely hope that Hezbollah and the Taliban are able to make it to the fight.”

National Socialism was Hitler’s political party in Germany, and the group openly espouses his fascist policies.

There have been dozens of pro-Hamas demonstrations in major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles and New York, as well as in several European capitals. In front of Sydney’s famed Opera House Monday, about a thousand protestors chanted “Gas the Jews,” “F*** the Jews,” and “Allahu Akbar” [God is great].

Synagogue security in both the United States and Europe has been reinforced, as antisemitic chatter has exploded online and the authorities fear that the incitement will lead to action. The ADL charted a rise from 59 threats and calls for violence on Telegram against Jews the day before Hamas attacked, to 347 posts in the first 18 hours of the invasion, in which the terrorists murdered over 900 civilians, including women, children and babies, and took some 150 captives back to the Gaza strip.

Online comments included such epithets as “Literal day of the rope in pissreal. God damnit America take note,” and “Imagine seeing this soon in America.”

Conspiracy theories were also rife. The QAnon-related “Shadow of Ezra” wrote that the Hamas attack was really a false Mossad operation intended to give Israel the chance to grab land from the Palestinians and create “Greater Israel.”

White supremacist Nick Fuentes postulated that it was impossible that the vaunted Israeli intelligence could have failed on this occasion, so the government knew about the Hamas plans but deliberately did not stop them ahead of time, to give them the justification to then commit ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

Neo-Nazi to stand trial for projecting antisemitic message on Anne Frank’s house.

Robert Wilson, a member of the Florida-based “Goyim Defense League” will be extradited to the Netherlands, where he will face trial for projecting an antisemitic message on Anne Frank’s house – now a Holocaust museum.

According to the JTA, Wilson, who was arrested for a homophobic attack on his neighbors in Chula Vista, California, and fled to Canada to avoid trial, is suspected of orchestrating an incident that took place in February of this year during which a message reading, “inventor of the ballpoint pen” was projected onto Anne Frank’s house.

The message is an allusion to a popular conspiracy theory that Frank used a ballpoint pen to writer her famous memoirs – something that could not have taken place since mass-production of the pen began after World War II.

Wilson was also charged with placing an antisemitic banner over the San Diego freeway and posing with antisemitic signs alongside Goyim Defense League founder Jon Minadeo Jr. outside the Auschwitz Concentration Camp Holocaust Museum.

“Unique challenge to new legislature”

Wilson’s trial will present a legal challenge to recently-passed legislation in the Netherlands, which singles out Holocaust denial as illegal hate speech.

The JTA quoted Willem Wagenaar, an extremism researcher employed by the Anne Frank House, as asking whether the incident can be justified under the country’s “freedom of speech” measures or is “punishable by law.” “It’s in the gray area in between. So we will find out,” he pointed out.

The leader neo-Nazi of a group calling itself the “Goyim Defense League” (GDL) was arrested during an antisemitic demonstration staged outside a synagogue in Bibb County, Georgia, last Friday.

Jon Minadeo, a 40-year-old Florida native, was charged with disorderly conduct and public disturbance, according to a local CBS affiliate.

Throughout the demonstration he shouted obscenities outside Temple Beth Israel while his followers put up a balloon depicting a gay Jew being lynched. He was later released, the station added.

GDL has organized similar rallies across the US, engaging in provocateur style protest aimed at garnering public attention to the antisemitic conspiracies it promotes.

In February, GDL crashed the Daytona 500 speedway race, holding up signs that said, “Henry Ford was right about the Jews” and “Communism is Jewish.” That same month, one of its members, 41 year old Canadian citizen Robert Wilson flashed on the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam an offensive message alluding to a conspiracy which claims that the pen Anne Frank used to write diary entries was not invented during World War II.

The previous year, both Wilson and Minadeo were photographed standing at the gates of Auschwitz while holding signs that mocked the Holocaust and attacked Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt.

The group staged a separate protest on Saturday at which Minadeo, with its members brandishing Nazi flags outside Chabad of Cobb County.

Rabbi Ephraim Silverstone of Chabad told a local Fox affiliate that seeing neo-Nazis outside his synagogue was “very disturbing,” explaining that many congregants have relatives who died in the Holocaust.

The neo-Nazi demonstrations continue a historic rise in antisemitic activity across the US, where it increased by 36 percent in 2022.

The ADL recorded 3,697 incidents that year — ten per day — the highest ever since the group began track them in 1979. Incidents of harassment, vandalism, and assault all spiked by double digits and occurred most frequently in New York, California, New Jersey, Florida, and Texas, which accounted for 54 percent of the ADL’s data. New York had the most, with 580 incidents. One incident resulted in a fatality.

“What’s unfolded in Georgia this weekend is the latest stunt by an antisemitic network that trolls Jewish communities — spreading propaganda, conspiracy theories and hate,” ADL Southeast regional director Ethan B. Davidson said on Monday. “Thank you to those who have spoken up in solidarity.”

Liora Rez, CEO of StopAntisemitism, a nonprofit which monitors antisemitic hate crimes across the world, said on Monday that she “calls on the Georgia legislature, and state legislatures around the country, to adopt IHRA and pass bills that give law enforcement the tools to prosecute people like Minadeo for their harassment and intimidation of Jews and other minorities.”

Footage of the incidents went viral on social media over the weekend, prompting responses from Georgia state officials.

“There is absolutely no place for this hate and antisemitism in our state,” Governor Brian Kemp (R) tweeted on Sunday. “I share in the outrage over this shameful act and stand with Georgians everywhere in condemning it. We remain vigilant in the face of these disgusting acts of bigotry.”

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Lisa Cupid also issued a statement addressing the need to balance free speech rights with the public good.

“I recognize the constitutional right to freedom of speech may allow these expressions of beliefs,” she said. “Still, we should also recognize that these actions impair our sense of community when all should feel safe and welcome here.”

Members of the antisemitic Goyim Defense League filmed themselves confronting Jews near a Chabad house in Orlando, Florida, cursing local Jews and telling them to ‘go back to Israel.’

According to a report by The Forward, the incident occurred last Friday.

“Leave our country, go back to Israel. You know, where you bomb Palestinian kids,” GDL founder Jon Minadeo told Jewish passengers in a car stopped at an intersection.

The GDL members also shouted “Heil Hitler” and suggested Jews “should be put” in ovens.

In a version of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” a white supremacist group is publicly showing support for Kanye West, a black rapper and fashion designer who has been spouting antisemitic statements over the past few weeks.

Several members of the Goyim Defense League (GDL) hung banners over a Los Angeles highway Saturday saying, “Honk if you know. Kanye is right about the Jews,” and citing two New Testament verses interpreted as comparing Jews to Satan and the devil. The small group is also seen giving the Nazi salute.

According to watchdog StopAntisemitism, the GDL is also responsible for “dozens upon dozens of antisemitic flyer drops vilifying Jews across the country.” There have recently been several such incidents in Los Angeles and nearby Beverly Hills, with plastic-bagged missives thrown on lawns blaming Jews for everything from control over the media and the White House to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The head of the GDL, Jon Minadeo, is infamous in the Bay area for his conspiracy theories and diatribes against Jews on his Goyim TV website and other social networks. Last month, Minadeo was briefly detained and fined by Polish police after posing with a friend with signs in front of the gates to Auschwitz that said “Shoah the ADL,” referring to the veteran Jewish anti-discrimination organization, and personally insulting its head, Jonathan Greenblatt.

Black extremist groups such as the virulently antisemitic Nation of Islam (NOI) have joined the GDL in supporting West. According to the ADL, West has been an admirer of the organization for some two decades, joining its events several times, and senior members are now defending him in public.

Repeating past claims by West about “the Jewish gay mafia that controls hip-hop and has used hip-hop to socially engineer Black America,” one NOI Executive Council member, Wesley Muhammad, said that “Kanye West is speaking a lot of truth right now, and he’s triggering a very dangerous enemy,” the ADL reported.

West, who last year formally changed his moniker to Ye, with no surname, has gone on several recent rants in the media against Jews. Two weeks ago, he was suspended from Twitter after writing that he was going to go “death con 3” on Jewish people.

This followed an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News, in which he said that former president Donald Trump’s Jewish son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner, had negotiated the Abraham Accords in order to “make money.”

On Wednesday, he defended his tweet with another interviewer, Piers Morgan. When asked if he regretted his statements, he smiled and said, “No! Absolutely not.”

West has since lost his longstanding relationship with fashion house Balenciaga, and the JP Morgan Bank that held his Yeezy clothing empire account has asked him to remove his account. Sports giant Adidas has also stated that its partnership with the controversial star was “under review,” although the two sides have had business-related problems before West’s antisemitic rants.
