Two activists in the anti-Israel International Solidarity Movement organization, citizens of Ireland and Sweden, receive deportation orders after they were arrested entering an army firing range near Hebron.

Israeli authorities issued deportation orders to two far-left anti-Israel activists who were arrested recently in a closed military zone near Hebron in Judea, with one of the two already being expelled from the country.

On Saturday, the two activists were arrested after violating a closed military zone near the Israeli town of Ma’on in Judea and violating orders by IDF personnel to vacate the area.

The two activists, members of the anti-Israel International Solidarity Movement (ISM), were taken into custody after they refused to leave an Israeli army firing range.

Palestinian Arab protesters and foreign anti-Israel activists have held numerous demonstrations in and around the firing range, protesting the demolition of an illegal Palestinian settlement established on land allocated to the firing range.

On May 5, the IDF demolished an illegal encampment, dubbed Khirbet Khallet a-Dabbe, which was built in the firing range and is located entirely in Area C – under direct Israeli control.

ISM activists have since entered the firing range to continue the protests against the encampment’s demolition and to aid attempts by Palestinian Arabs to rebuild it.

Authorities arrested two ISM activists on Saturday and, after questioning, handed them over to the Israeli Interior Ministry’s immigration and border control authority for deportation, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced on Tuesday morning.

“Over the weekend, two female tourists entered a live-fire military zone near Ma’on in southern Hebron, violating a military order,” he said. “Upon their detention, it was revealed that one of them is a [known] anti-Israel activist abroad. A hearing was conducted for both and they will be deported from the country!”

“I commend the officers of the Judea and Samaria District, District Commander Commissioner Moshe Pinchi, and all the forces operating in the field — for implementing a clear and firm policy: anyone who approaches military zones, tries to disrupt the activity of our security forces, or seeks to defame the Land of Israel — will be removed,” he added.

The activists have been identified as Deirdre D. Murphy, a 70-year-old Irish national from Douglas, Ireland, who has been residing in Swansea, Wales, and 48-year-old Swedish citizen Susanne Björk.

A day after their arrest, Björk and Murphy were brought before a judge in central Israel, where they were issued deportation orders.

Björk was expelled from the country on Monday morning, while Murphy has appealed the court’s decision. She remains in custody until the outcome of her appeal.

Murphy is a long-time anti-Israel activist who has volunteered with ISM in Judea and Samaria for the past 20 years, her son told the Irish broadcaster RTÉ News. She has reportedly been in Judea for the past five weeks.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken slams IDF shooting of activist during a violent riot as “unprovoked and unjustified.”

The Israeli military officially took responsibility for the fatal shooting of a Turkish-American activist during a riot in a Palestinian Authority-administered town last week.

Turkish-born Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, who also held American citizenship, was killed by “indirect and unintended IDF fire, which was aimed at a main instigator” during clashes between soldiers and Palestinians, the IDF said in a statement.

“The incident occurred during a violent gathering of dozens of Palestinian suspects, who burned tires and threw stones at forces at Beita Junction,” the IDF statement continued, adding that the military “expresses its deepest regret over the death.”

Eygi was a member of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), which encourages foreign activists to travel to conflict zones, where they engage in direct confrontations with Israeli soldiers.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken slammed the IDF over Eygi’s shooting, asserting that it was “unprovoked and unjustified.”

Blinken then demanded that the Israeli military implement “fundamental changes to the way that they operate in the West Bank, including changes to their rules of engagement.”

He added that “it’s not acceptable. It has to change. And we will be making that clear to the senior-most members of the Israeli government.”

President Joe Biden told media that the killing “apparently… was an accident — [theb bullet] ricocheted off the ground, and [Eygi] got hit by accident.”

Egyi’s family claimed, without providing evidence, that the IDF had intentionally killed her.

This cannot be misconstrued as anything except a deliberate, targeted and precise attack by the military against an unarmed civilian,” they said in a statement.

Rachel Corrie, another American ISM volunteer, was killed by an IDF bulldozer in the Gaza Strip after she was repeatedly warned that she was endangering her life by refusing to evacuate a home in the coastal enclave.

An Israeli inquiry found that IDF troops believed Corrie had left the area, and that it was impossible for the driver of the bulldozer to have seen her. Anti-Israel activists have continue to insist that Corrie’s killing was intentional.

An American woman participating in a riot in the Arab village of Beita, south of Nablus, was killed today.

Initial reports indicate that Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, died during the riots. She reportedly holds passports from both the United States and Turkey.

Initial reports say that Eygi is a member of the pro-terrorist organization International Solidarity Movement, ISM.

ISM is a pro-Hamas organization. Israeli officials believe Eygi illegally entered Israel on a tourist visa and then conspired to participate in anti-Israel riots.

A spokesman of the DMU project, which monitors the activities of foreign anarchists, told TPS-IL, “In recent weeks, we have informed the Israeli authorities that the group of activists of the terrorist organization ISM, who have infiltrated Israel, are taking part in violent riots. It would have been enough for the State of Israel to apply its laws to prevent what happened in advance. The American law enforcement authorities must investigate how the citizens of the United States act within the framework of a Hamas-supporting organization, resort to violence, stir up the area and then come with complaints.”

Following reports of the death of the American, the IDF announced that it would review the actions of the soldiers responding to the rock throwing rioters.

ISM has a long history of anti-Israel hatred. Following the October 7 massacre in southern Israel, ISM official Paul Larudee posted, “Today our Palestinian brothers and sisters are teaching the Zionists a lesson.”
