Iran’s embassy in London posted disturbing messages on social media that called for Iranians living in the United Kingdom to sacrifice their lives for the Islamic Republic.

In a Farsi-language post published on the embassy’s official Telegram channel, the message read: “Let us all… give our bodies to be slain; for it is better than giving our country to the enemy.”

The post urged “all brave and noble children of Iran” to join what it described as the “Jan Fada” initiative —a phrase that translates to “sacrificing one’s life.”

According to the embassy, participation in the campaign is a way for Iranians abroad to demonstrate their “solidarity, loyalty, and national zeal.” However, few concrete details have been provided about how the initiative operates in practice.

Security experts and human rights advocates say the rhetoric alone is deeply concerning.

Roger Macmillan, a former security director at Iran International, a news outlet that amplifies the voices of Iranian dissidents and exiles, warned that the messages could have serious consequences.

“It is horrific that this is happening on U.K. soil,” Macmillan told the Daily Mail. “This is an attempt at online radicalization of individuals who could be persuaded by the regime to commit acts in support of the Islamic Republic in the U.K.”

He added that the campaign likely serves as a way for Iranian authorities to identify supporters abroad who are willing to act on behalf of the regime.

“This is a significant threat to security and to our way of life,” Macmillan said, warning that those who respond could potentially be activated within the United Kingdom.

Dr. Nader Fallah of the Association of Iranian Human Rights and Allies also expressed concern, arguing that the posts should be treated as a red line by British authorities.

“This kind of messaging is not benign,” Fallah said. “It is designed to appeal to the most hardline, ideologically driven individuals and to encourage a dangerous culture of fanaticism and martyrdom.”

Tehran greenlights launch of international television channel broadcasting in Hebrew, with aim of promoting Iranian state propaganda among Israelis.

Iran is preparing to launch an international television channel broadcasting in Hebrew, Iranian media have reported, in a bid by Tehran to foment change within Israel.

According to a report by the Iranian state media outlet IRNA, President Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered the national broadcasting company, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, to establish a Hebrew television channel.

The new channel will target Israelis in the Jewish state and abroad and is intended to “respond to the media propaganda of the Zionist regime and its affiliates,” according to the directive signed by Pezeshkian.

The order defined its target audience as “everybody speaking Hebrew in the world.”

The move was first proposed last September by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. The president’s signature marked the final hurdle before the plan is implemented.

The new television channel is the latest in a long-running effort by Iran to appeal directly to Israelis with Hebrew-language media outlets in order to alter public opinion in Israel.

In 2022, the Tasnim News Agency, a semi-official outlet affiliated with Iran’s paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, launched a Hebrew website.

While the new Hebrew television channel will promote Tehran’s narratives regarding the Israel-Arab conflict and the June war between Iran and Israel, it is also expected to exploit internal political and social divisions within Israel.

In recent months, Iranian media outlets have heavily covered the ongoing ultra-Orthodox draft crisis in Israel, giving significant attention to stories of anti-draft protests, the arrests of draft-refusing yeshiva students, and reports of several dozen yeshiva students leaving Israel to avoid the draft.

Past Iranian content in Hebrew on the Tasnim website has also promoted criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

An Iranian state media veteran blamed Jewish mysticism and demons for the Islamic Republic’s military setbacks during the recent war with Israel.

A prominent Iranian journalist accused Israel of utilizing “Jewish witchcraft” and demonic forces during the recent war between the Jewish state and Islamic Republic.

Abdollah Ganji, the former editor of state-controlled newspaper Javan, took to social media to post about a “strange phenomenon.”

“After the recent war, a few sheets of paper were found on the streets of Tehran containing talismans with Jewish symbols,” Ganji wrote on the social media platform X.

According to Ganji, the papers prove that Israel had used witchcraft during the fighting.

“In the first year of the Gaza war, news had also leaked about Netanyahu meeting with occult specialists,” the journalist continued, without providing evidence for that claim.

“A few years ago, the Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Khamenei] had stated that hostile countries and Western and Hebrew intelligence services use occult sciences and jinn [demonic] forces for espionage.”

Some Iranian X users added context to Ganji’s tweets, urging readers outside of Iran to “not take this guy seriously.”

The Mossad intelligence agency’s Farsi-language X account responded sarcastically to Ganji’s post.

“Using drugs and talking to the jinn [demons] are not desirable traits for someone leading a country,” the account replied.

Ganji’s tweet is not the first incident of Iranian figures appearing to panic over Jewish symbols in public spaces.

In December 2021, journalist Fatima Karimi accused a shopping mall in Iran of “promoting” the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

Karimi took offense to a seasonal decoration in the mall featuring a hanging canopy that included seasonal fruit.

The journalist charged that the hanging fruit overhead was borrowed from the traditional decoration practices for the Sukkot festival. She demanded a police investigation into the mall, claiming that the shopping center’s owners were engaging in a malicious conspiracy to secretly expose Iranians to Jewish symbolism.

An Islamic charity in Britain is under investigation after videos emerged of Iranian generals delivering antisemitic speeches to audiences at its premises in west London.

The videos were unearthed by United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), a US-based research and advocacy group, and shared with the BBC, which verified their authenticity.

According to the BBC’s reporting, one video described an “apocalyptic war on Jews” while a second contained Holocaust denial.

The footage – which also includes a denial of the Holocaust – adds to growing concerns from some parliamentarians that the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is attempting to radicalize UK Muslims, the BBC report noted.

The videos showed a total of three events, two of which were live-streamed speeches by IRGC commanders, with the third recorded at an in-person event at the Kanoon Towhid center, where the group behind the meetings, the Islamic Students Associations of Britain (ISA), holds its gatherings. The ISA was founded to promote the philosophy of the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini.

In one recording — an Instagram Live from Iran in September 2020 which has been viewed about 1,500 times — IRGC commander Hossein Yekta said universities had become “the battlefront” and urged the students listening to become “soft-war officers”.

Kasra Aarabi — director of IRGC research at UANI — said the term “soft-war officers” is used by Iran to describe recruits to its ideological battle with the West. He said it was coined by a branch of the IRGC, “which today is proactively conducting terror plots on British soil.”

The Kanoon Towhid center is owned by the Al-Tawheed (TUCF) Charitable Trust. The trust was already being investigated by the UK Charity Commission, which governs charitable operations, over an event honoring IRGC Gen Qasem Soleimani, who was sanctioned by the UK for his links to terrorism and assassinated in a US airstrike in 2020. The commission is now examining the videos provided by UANI, which include footage of the Soleimani event.

Conservative MP Alicia Kearns, who chairs the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, described the speeches as a “brazen act of radicalisation”. She said the IRGC should be added to the list of proscribed terrorist groups in the UK, meaning it would be illegal to be an IRGC member or to show support for them.
