Popular British tabloid under fire after it uses photograph of Gaza child suffering from genetic disorder to back false claims of starvation in the coastal enclave.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry has accused a popular British tabloid of promoting Hamas propaganda after the outlet featured the photograph of an emaciated Gazan child on its front page, while misrepresenting his condition.

On Saturday, the Daily Mirror‘s cover was dominated by a photograph of Kareem Muammar, a three-year-old boy from the Gaza Strip who is suffering from a rare genetic condition known as Fanconi-Bickel syndrome, which impairs the functioning of key organs including his liver, kidneys, and intestines.

However, the paper made no mention of Muammar’s pre-existing condition, instead using his photograph as proof of accusations against Israel of widespread starvation in the Gaza Strip.

“Holocaust survivors call on Israel to end aid catastrophe as famine is declared…” the headline read. “STOP STARVING.”

A day later, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein castigated the Daily Mirror, noting that X had added a Community Note to the outlet’s article link, highlighting the context left out by the paper.

“Kareem Muammar, whose photo appears on Mirror’s front page, suffers from Fanconi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects the liver, kidneys, and intestines, disrupting the absorption of essential nutrients,” the Community Note read.

“The Daily Mirror manipulation on Gaza is being backlashed by X users: a Community Note saying they concealed important context from their readers about a child from Gaza,” Marmorstein wrote on Sunday.

“Daily Mirror, stop spreading Hamas propaganda!”

Israel’s military announced that 111 pallets of humanitarian aid were airdropped into the Gaza Strip on Sunday, including goods provided by Jordan, Germany, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The IDF emphasized that its Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) was working to ensure the flow of aid into Gaza.

“The IDF will continue working to improve the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the international community, while rejecting the false claims of deliberate starvation in Gaza.”

‘Let us not forget that Ireland was at best neutral during World War II,’ says Israel’s foreign minister.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar slammed Irish president Mike Higgins for the second time in days after the Irish leader falsely accused Israel of planning to usurp land from Egypt and establish settlements there.

The exchange came as tensions between Israel and Ireland continue to worsen, with Sa’ar recently closing the Jewish State’s embassy in Dublin due to the country’s “extreme anti-Israel” stance.

Sa’ar said that Higgins and others in the Irish government are “encouraging antisemitism” via the “delegitimization and dehumanization of Israel.”

On Tuesday, Higgins responded by claiming that Sa’ar’s comments were intended to serve as a distraction from Israel’s alleged violations of international law.

“It is a very serious business to actually brand a people because in fact they disagree with Prime Minister Netanyahu, who is in breach of so many bits of international law, and who has beached the sovereignty of three of his neighbors, in relation to Lebanon, Syria, and would like in fact actually to have a settlement into Egypt,” Higgins said.

Sa’ar didn’t hold back when responding to the latest accusations from the Irish president.

“Once an antisemitic liar — always an antisemitic liar,” Sa’ar said of Higgins in an English-language statement.

“From Lebanese territory, Israel’s sovereignty was breached for over a year,” the statement continued. “For no reason and unprovoked, Hezbollah joined Hamas on October 8th [2023] and since then fired tens of thousands of missiles, rockets and drones at Israeli citizens and communities. Israel did what any country would — it defended itself against a brutal aggressor.”

Higgins’ claim of Israeli designs on Egyptian territory are nonsensical, Sa’ar stressed.

He “invented the claim that Israel seeks to form settlements there. In the context of our peace agreement with Egypt, Israel withdrew from a huge area — all of the Sinai desert, and uprooted all of its communities there. This peace agreement has been maintained since 1979.”

Sa’ar concluded by noting that Ireland had not joined the Allies in fighting Nazi Germany.

“Let us not forget that Ireland was at best neutral during World War II,” he said. “At that time, the free world was fighting Hitler’s axis while Ireland sat on the side and did nothing.”

Israeli foreign ministry nixes diplomatic accreditation of eight Norwegian diplomats who had dealings with the Palestinian Authority, as diplomatic row over Palestinian state recognition continues.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry on Thursday rescinded the diplomatic credentials of eight Norwegian officials, the ministry said in a statement, citing Norway’s recent recognition of unilateral Palestinian statehood.

Jerusalem notified Per Egil Selvaag, the Norwegian ambassador to Israel, that eight of the country’s diplomats in Israel would lose their diplomatic credentials as a consequence of “a flurry of recent anti-Israel and unilateral steps taken by the government of Norway” and “severe comments by senior Norwegian officials.”

“There is a price for anti-Israeli conduct. Instead of fighting Palestinian terrorism after October 7 and supporting Israel’s fight against the Iranian axis of evil — Norway chose to award the murderers and rapists of Hamas in the form of recognition of a Palestinian state,” said Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz (Likud).

Israel will revoke the eight Norwegian diplomats’ credentials in one week, and will cancel their visas in three months, the Foreign Ministry said.

However, Israel will permit the diplomats to reapply for new credentials prior to the termination of their existing visas.

“Norway conducts a unilateral policy on the Palestinian issue – therefore I ordered the termination of any representation toward the Palestinian Authority on behalf of the Norwegian embassy in Israel,” Katz continued.

“Those who attack us and conduct a unilateral policy against us will pay a price.”

On Wednesday, Israel nixed an escrow deal with Norway used to transfer to Ramallah tax funds collected by Israel on the Palestinian Authority’s behalf.

A day earlier, Oslo penned a letter to the International Criminal Court rejecting claims that the court lacked jurisdiction to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

The South African delegation presented a case against Israel before a 17-judge panel at the Hague with the goal that the court would issue an injunction to stop Israel’s war against Hamas.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry declared that South Africa’s genocide accusations against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) were “baseless lies” and hypocritical, Ynet reports.

The Foreign Ministry also called South Africa “the judicial arm of Hamas” and noted that the case completely distorted the account of the October 7th massacre and didn’t mention the atrocities Hamas committed against Israelis.

The South African delegation presented a case against Israel before a 17-judge panel at the Hague with the goal that the court would issue an injunction to stop Israel’s war against Hamas.

The SA delegation argued that Israel’s goal was the annihilation of the Gazan population and that for years they had prevented births and turned Gaza into “the largest concentration camp in the world.”

They claimed that Israel violated article 2 of the Genocide Convention and said, “Israel has a genocidal intent against the Palestinians in Gaza. That is evident from the way in which this military attack is being conducted.”

The added, “It is rooted in the belief that the enemy is not just Hamas, but is embedded in the fabric of Palestinian life in Gaza.”

Israel’s Foreign Ministry condemned these accusations and said, “South Africa seeks to allow Hamas to repeat its war crimes, its crimes against humanity and its sexual crimes committed on October 7, which leaders of the terror group have said they intend to commit over and over again.”

They added, “The lawyers for the African nation ignored the fact that Hamas is using civilians in Gaza as human shields and are conducting their fighting from inside hospitals, schools, UN shelters, mosques and churches in order to endanger the lives of Gaza’s civilian population.”

“The captives held by Hamas deprived of access to the Red Cross and to medical attention. Israel would continue to defend its citizens under international law, while differentiating between Hamas terrorists and civilians, and would work to bring about the release of all its captives held hostage by Hamas and to eliminate the racist, antisemitic terror group that calls in its manifest, for the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews.”

Diaspora Minister Amichai Shikli called the hearing “a new low” and added, “It is doubtful whether the UN still has any moral standing as an organization that was established to promote human rights but appoints the representatives of the Iranian dictatorship to be at the helm of its human rights council.”
