By Jessica Costescu, The Washington Free Beacon

Jewish Voice for Peace chapters at three Washington, D.C., universities ditched the anti-Israel group this month to form an even more radical organization: the National Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front.

The new group swears allegiance to the pro-terrorist Palestine Liberation Organization militant creed—which demands a “right to resistance”—and vows to escalate confrontations in college classrooms and on campuses.

The former JVP chapters at Georgetown, George Washington (GW), and American University announced the move on Sept. 7 and switched their Instagram account names and profile pictures to identify as affiliates of the Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front.

The new group promises to “build a new front of Jewish students” and follow “Gaza as our compass, unconditionally.”

“We work to dismantle Zionism in its entirety by confronting Zionist institutions on campus, to struggle for divestment, and to pursue the criminalization of Zionism as a white supremacist weapon of war,” the Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front wrote on Instagram.

“Rejecting Zionism and upholding Palestinians’ right to return, remain, and resist are central to opposing fascist escalation and the consolidation of power in the US and across the world.”

The news could spell trouble for Georgetown, GW, and American, given that the schools’ JVP chapters have already sown chaos on campus and helped put their institutions on the Trump administration’s radar.

All three expressed support for Hamas’s Oct. 7 terror attack and participated in the illegal encampments at GW in spring 2024.

The Trump administration is investigating anti-Semitism at American University and just last month found GW was “deliberately indifferent” to campus anti-Semitism, creating a hostile environment for Jewish, American-Israeli, and Israeli students and faculty in violation of civil rights law.

The Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front was nonetheless founded on the belief that JVP’s anti-Israel efforts have not gone far enough.

“On campuses across the world, the student intifada is at the forefront of escalating demands for divestment,” the group wrote in its Instagram post.

“Our classrooms have become a theater for the battle against imperialism and state repression, because there is nothing university profiteers and state actors fear more than a politicized, organized student mass.”

“While these tactics certainly have a place in the movement at large, now is the time to reassess the effectiveness of our solidarity in the student intifada,” the post continued.

“We must question, as anti-Zionist Jews living safely in the heart of Western empire that has sustained 77 years of occupation, has it been enough?”

The Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front says it adheres to al-Thawabit, a foundational creed the Palestine Liberation Organization created in 1977 “to which all Palestinian factions must pledge fealty.”

The principles include the “right to resistance,” the “right to self-determination,” the designation of “Jerusalem as the capital” of a Palestinian state, and the “right to return.”

The newly formed group also notes that its logo includes Arabic that translates to “Where there is oppression, may there thrive resistance” and the Hebrew phrase “L’chaim Intifada.”

Breaking with JVP for not being radical enough is a jarring statement on its own. The group, which did not respond to a request for comment, has a history of supporting Palestinian terrorism and peddling propaganda demonizing Israel.

Just hours after Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre, JVP issued a statement justifying the attack and blaming it on Israel. It has also honored Leila Khaled—a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist group and airplane hijacker—and has referred to Palestinian terrorists as political prisoners.

GW’s JVP chapter, meanwhile, was among the dozens of student groups that signed a petition in response to the Trump administration’s probe, calling on the school to become a “sanctuary campus” by banning all law enforcement, including ICE and the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.

The chapter was also suspended last month through May 2026 after it held an unapproved, on-campus event and published a social media post that “created a hostile environment” for Jewish students.

As a result, the group wouldn’t have been eligible for university funding even if it didn’t ditch JVP, according to GW spokeswoman Julia Garbitt, who noted that the Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front also wasn’t a recognized student group.

“GW prioritizes fostering an environment that is respectful, accountable, and safe for all, and behavior that is disruptive, harmful, or does not comply with GW policies is not tolerated. The university responds to reports of misconduct and holds accountable student organizations that violate our policies,” said Garbitt.

An American University spokeswoman also said the chapter at her university wasn’t a recognized student group. It’s unclear, however, if it could continue to officially operate as a JVP affiliate to score student group privileges like hosting sanctioned events while using its new brand in social media posts and at protests.

Georgetown did not respond to a request for comment.

Even if the Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front chapters aren’t recognized as student groups, there’s still potential for significant unrest. Columbia University Apartheid Divest, for example, is not a recognized student group, but it’s been behind some of the most extreme disruptions at the Ivy League school, including raids on campus buildings.

By Corey Walker, The Algemeiner

Some college students affiliated with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), an anti-Israel organization that has helped organize widespread demonstrations against the Jewish state during the war in Gaza, have announced that they are forming a new group, citing dissatisfaction with what they described as JVP’s insufficient efforts to “dismantle Zionism.”

The students announced on social media on Sunday the formation of the Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front, an organization which they claim will take a more adversarial stance toward Zionism on campus.

“We work to dismantle Zionism in its entirety by confronting Zionist institutions on campus, to struggle for divestment, and to pursue the criminalization of Zionism as a white supremacist weapon of war,” the Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front wrote on Instagram.

The group characterized the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, invasion of and massacre across southern Israel as a form of legitimate “resistance” and declared the Israeli military response as a “horrific expansion of the Zionist project” and a supposed “genocide.”

“In one month, we also mark two years of the strongest sustained resistance by the might of Palestinian journalists, doctors, men, women, and children, refusing to abandon national liberation and continuously defying vicious onslaught, backed by American dollars,” the group continued.

The Anti-Zionist Jewish Student Front claimed that it adheres to the Thawabit, a Palestinian nationalist framework that includes the so-called “right of return” for millions of Palestinians and their descendants to Israel, claims to Jerusalem as a Palestinian capital, and explicit support for “resistance” against the Jewish state.

Palestinian leaders and activists have described the Thawabit as a set of principles aimed at eliminating Israel and establishing a Palestinian state in its place.

Anti-Israel protests and antisemitism on university campuses exploded in the wake of Hamas’s Oct. 7 atrocities, amid the ensuing war in Gaza.

During this period, JVP, an organization that purports to fight for “Palestinian liberation,” has positioned itself as a leader of the anti-Israel movement.

Despite JVP’s name, a poll released earlier this year found that the vast majority of American Jews believe that anti-Zionist movements and anti-Israel university protests are antisemitic.

The findings — part of a survey commissioned by The Jewish Majority, a nonprofit founded by a researcher whose aim is to monitor and accurately report Jewish opinion on the most consequential issues affecting the community — also showed that Jews across the US overwhelmingly oppose the views and tactics of JVP.

Meanwhile, StandWithUs (SWU), an organization which promotes a mission of “supporting Israel and fighting antisemitism,” released a report in January examining how the far-left JVP organization “promotes antisemitic conspiracy theories” and even partners with terrorist organizations to achieve its “primary goal” of “dismantling the State of Israel.”

According to the report, JVP weaponizes the plight of Palestinians to advance an “extremist” agenda which promotes the destruction of Israel and whitewashes terrorism, receiving money from organizations that have ties to Middle Eastern countries such as Iran.

JVP, which has repeatedly defended the Hamas-led Oct. 7 massacre, argued in a recently resurfaced 2021 booklet that Jews should not write Hebrew liturgy because hearing the language would be “deeply traumatizing” to Palestinians.

Critics of the organization often point out that many JVP chapters do not have a single person of Jewish faith. The organization does not require a Jewish person to found a chapter and has even helped orchestrate anti-Israel demonstrations in front of synagogues.

The Reconstructionist movement offers JVP-affiliated rabbis a degree of legitimacy that amounts to tacit approval of their anti-Zionist extremism.

By Moshe Phillips, JNS

The murder in Washington, D.C., of Israeli embassy staff members Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Sarah Milgrim, 26, last month by an anti-Israel extremist has drawn statements from American rabbis across the spectrum of political and religious thought. Yet one response stands out for its disturbing nature.

Rabbi Brant Rosen of Chicago, co-founder of the Rabbinical Council of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and spiritual leader of Tzedek Chicago, responded by stating:

“These were two Israeli embassy workers, so they were representatives of a country that is engaged in a genocide,” referring to Palestinian Arab deaths amid a war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza that followed the terrorist massacre of 1,200 people in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and the kidnapping of some 250 others.

Tzedek Chicago, founded in 2015, describes itself as “an anti-Zionist Jewish congregation based on core values of justice, equity and solidarity.” In other words, Rosen positions himself well outside the mainstream of American Jewish life.

JVP does not support a two-state solution. JVP calls for an end to the State of Israel as we now know it.

JVP’s rabbinical council has only 41 members—out of an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 rabbis in the United States, not including ordained rabbis working outside synagogues and campus organizations.

Yet despite their small numbers, JVP rabbis have gained an outsized influence in discourse since Oct. 7. By contrast, the Coalition for Jewish Values says its “Rabbinic Circle is composed of over 2,500 traditional Orthodox rabbis.”

If the American Jewish community holds that some individuals and organizations cross lines into what can generously be called renegade territory, then JVP surely qualifies.

What’s more troubling is that the Reconstructionist movement, which is the home of many JVP leaders, has so far failed to disassociate itself from these figures.

This inaction should prompt the Reform and Conservative movements to re-examine their relationships with Reconstructionist institutions. Yet this reckoning has not occurred.

Let’s examine the close, even affirming, relationship between the Reconstructionist movement and JVP extremists.

Brant Rosen, Linda Holtzman and Brian Walt—all members of the JVP Rabbinical Council—are graduates of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC) and have held or continue to hold high-profile roles within major Reconstructionist organizations.

All three are featured on ReconstructingJudaism.org, the movement’s official website.

Another affiliated site, Ritualwell.org, serves as a liturgical resource for the movement. Rosen’s “A Jewish Prayer for Nakba Day” is published on the site and includes the phrase “from the river to the sea”—a slogan that is widely recognized as rejecting Israel’s existence.

Walt’s bio on ReconstructingJudaism.org notes explicitly that he is a member of JVP’s Rabbinical Council.

According to ReconstructingJudaism.org, Holtzman serves as an RRC professor and director of student life (though it is unclear how current the listing is), despite her long-standing involvement with JVP.

Walt was even chosen to present at the Reconstructionist Israel Convening this past December in a session titled “Reflecting on Israel, despite being a senior JVP leader.”

Rosen’s nearly 2,600-word screed, titled “Why I’ve Broken From Zionism,” remains publicly available on ReconstructingJudaism.org. In it, he disavows any connection to the Zionist movement.

This is not a case of guilt by association.

The Reconstructionist movement offers JVP-affiliated rabbis a degree of legitimacy that amounts to tacit approval of their anti-Zionist extremism.

This stands in stark contrast to broader American Jewish opinions. As a Gallup staffer noted in 2019, “95% of Jews have favorable views of Israel.”

In early May, Rabbi Deborah Waxman, head of the two most prominent Reconstructionist institutions, gave a major interview upon announcing her retirement.

In it, she stated: “The Reconstructionist movement has long supported a two-state solution, and many of our leaders have advocated for Palestinian national aspirations even when it came at a personal cost.”

But how can Waxman’s statements be taken seriously when key movement figures contradict them so openly?

Rosen is a past president of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association. Holtzman currently serves on its board. Walt wrote back in 2012 in a nearly 6,700-word essay: “The daily reality in Israel violated each of these core values. And I could no longer be a Zionist.”

Walt is also currently listed as a member of the J Street Rabbinic and Cantorial Cabinet on its website. And he is not alone in belonging to both J Street’s rabbinic body and JVP’s.

Mordechai Liebling, one-time executive director of Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, is another, as are Alan LaPayover, Rebecca Alpert and others.

Both J Street and the Reconstructionists claim to be for a two-state solution, but how do they reconcile the involvement in their organizations of JVP’s anti-Israel rabbis?

It’s easy to see just how radical JVP really is with even a very quick review of their website, where they call for the removal of Jews from Israel.

The section reads: “We imagine Arab, Middle Eastern and Southwest Asian/North African Jews having ethical and safe access to return to their original homelands.”

The Reconstructionist movement has had more than a decade to address this issue and has consistently failed to act. It has not distanced itself from its most radical figures, nor has it publicly disavowed the positions of JVP’s rabbinical leadership.

It’s time for American Jews to seriously re-evaluate the place the Reconstructionist movement occupies in the larger communal tent.

By Corey Walker, The Algemeiner

A pro-Israel nonprofit has published a new bombshell booklet detailing the inner workings and funding of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), a controversial and prominent anti-Zionist group that has helped organize widespread demonstrations against the Jewish state during the war in Gaza.

StandWithUs (SWU), an organization which promotes a mission of “supporting Israel and fighting antisemitism,” released the report examining how the far-left JVP — which defended the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas’s invasion of southern Israel last Oct. 7 — “promotes antisemitic conspiracy theories” and even partners with terrorist organizations to achieve its “primary goal” of “dismantling the State of Israel.”

According to the report, JVP weaponizes the plight of Palestinians to advance an “extremist” agenda which promotes the destruction of Israel and whitewashes terrorism, receiving money from organizations that have ties to Middle Eastern countries such as Iran.

“JVP and its allies slander and dehumanize Israelis as privileged, powerful, and racist white European colonizers,” the report says. “They promote dangerous conspiracy theories tying Israelis to injustices against various communities” around the world.

The booklet points out that JVP pushes a misleading history of Jewish presence in the Middle East, ignoring that Jews “faced systemic discrimination at best and brutal violence at worst under Muslim and Arab rule, until almost all of them fled or were expelled in the 20th century.”

SWU also notes that JVP has routinely labeled Jews as “racist” for expressing fear about the prospect of living as minorities in Israel.

“JVP simply refuses to acknowledge that most Jews genuinely see efforts to eliminate the world’s only Jewish state as a form of hate,” the report reads.

In addition, the report alleges that JVP advances “antisemitic conspiracy theories,” such as the notion that American police are trained by Israeli forces.

This narrative suggests that Israel exacerbates alleged police brutality in the United States through training law enforcement to brutalize black people.

Prominent anti-Israel pundits such as Marc Lamont Hill and Linda Sarsour have cited this misleading information in various public statements.

StandWithUs also alleges that JVP harbors deep connections and support for international terrorist groups, highlighting JVP’s record of support for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), an internationally designated terrorist organization with the stated goal of dismantling Israel and replacing it with a Palestinian state.

“JVP has campaigned in support of PFLP terrorists, hosted PFLP members at events, and partnered with groups that openly support PFLP and other terrorist organizations,” the report reads.

In addition, the report states that JVP has collaborated with anti-Israel entities such as Samidoun, which identifies itself as a “Palestinian prisoner solidarity network,” to hold rallies.

Samidoun described Hamas’s Oct. 7 atrocities in Israel as “a brave and heroic operation.” The United States and Canada each imposed sanctions on Samidoun in October, labeling the organization a “sham charity” and accusing it of fundraising for terrorist groups such as PFLP.

The US Treasury Department said that PFLP “uses Samidoun to maintain fundraising operations in both Europe and North America.”

“Organizations like Samidoun masquerade as charitable actors that claim to provide humanitarian support to those in need, yet in reality divert funds for much-needed assistance to support terrorist groups,” Bradley Smith, the US Treasury Department’s acting under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said in a statement at the time.

The SWU report also says that JVP has ties to “extremist” anti-Israel groups such as Within Our Lifetime (WOL) and the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM).

Leadership for these groups have repeatedly expressed support for violence against Israel and terrorist groups. JVP has worked alongside these groups to hold anti-Israel demonstrations and marches.

According to the new report, JVP has received substantial financial assistance from organizations tied to Lebanon and Iran.

For example, the Maximum Difference Foundation, which has been accused of maintaining ties with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an internationally designated terrorist organization, donated $65,000 to JVP.

JVP has also received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which according to SWU has funded other anti-Israel organizations, including Palestinian organizations linked with the PFLP.

The report additionally noted that JVP received $200,000 from The Quitiplas Foundation, which has allegedly donated to other organizations connected to Samidoun.

“JVP’s harmful rhetoric and alliances make it clear they are not a voice for peace,” StandWithUs CEO Roz Rothstein said in a statement accompanying the report’s release. “This organization fuels hate and shields extremists from accountability while doing nothing to bring about peaceful coexistence.”

“To help fight rising antisemitism, the public, media, and leaders across our society must finally recognize JVP’s dangerous agenda and reject it,” she said.

The Algemeiner has previously reported that JVP argued in a recently resurfaced 2021 booklet that Jews should not write Hebrew liturgy because hearing the language would be “deeply traumatizing” to Palestinians.

In June, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) filed a complaint with the US Federal Election Commission accusing JVP’s political fundraising arm of misrepresenting its spending and receiving unlawful donations from corporate entities, citing “discrepancies” in the organization’s income and expense reports.

New York City police arrested as many as 200 pro-Palestinian protesters on Monday morning after they participated in a sit-in outside the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street, according to news reports.

Protesters chanted “Free Palestine,” “Let Gaza live!” and ”Up up with liberation, down down with occupation!” among other slogans.

No one made it inside the premises, according to the Associated Press.

The 200 arrested out of hundreds more who participated breached the black metal security fence outside the exchange, where they sat down and waited to be detained.

Footage also shows several demonstrators—many wearing red shirts with the words “Jews say stop arming Israel” on them—chained to the fence before the exchange opened at 9:30 a.m.

The protest was organized by the anti-Israel, anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace.

By Jack Elbaum, The Algemeiner

Columbia University’s major anti-Israel organizations came out in support of Palestinian terrorism and a student who said that Zionists do not deserve to live in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“Violence is the only path forward,” a joint Instagram post between Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) and Columbia Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) read. “We are proud to be a part of the fight for the liberation of all oppressed peoples.”

Elsewhere in the post, the groups made clear that they “support liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance.”

Support for armed resistance has long been commonplace among anti-Israel organizations, but it is rarely stated explicitly.

The statement from the Columbia student groups came in a longer post regarding Khymani James, a student at Columbia who was on video earlier this year saying “Zionists don’t deserve to live” and proclaiming that people should “be grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists.”

He also said, “I don’t fight to injure or for there to be a winner or a loser, I fight to kill.”

James was reportedly a leader of Columbia’s anti-Israel movement and “Gaza solidarity encampment.”

The comments triggered backlash and what was widely seen as an apology for James on behalf of CUAD. However, the most recent post was a retraction of the previous apology.

“All CUAD organizers were complicit in not maintaining our political line, keeping the statement public on our Instagram, and in neglecting the mental and physical safety of Khymani,” the post read. CUAD apologized for causing “irrevocable harm” to him.

Despite James’ comments about the possibility of murdering Zionists, CUAD’s post claims that he was criticized and socially ostracized for “fight[ing] back against state violence.”

James also responded to this post, writing on Twitter/X, “Thank you to my comrades for posting this beautiful, powerful letter. I never wrote the neo-liberal apology posted in late April, and I’m glad we’ve set the record straight once and for all. I will not allow anyone to shame me for my politics.”

“Anything I said, I meant it,” he concluded.

U.S. Capitol Police on Tuesday arrested some 200 people protesting against U.S. military aid for Israel inside the congressional Cannon House Office Building.

Police said protesters violated a law against “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding,” adding that “demonstrations are not allowed inside the Congressional Buildings.”

“We told the people, who legally entered, to stop or they would be arrested. They did not stop, so we are arresting them,” added police.

Mitchell Rivard, chief of staff for Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.), said he called for intervention after the protesters “became disruptive, violently beating on the office doors, shouting loudly, and attempting to force entry into the office.”

Kildee told the Associated Press he was confused by his office being targeted as he voted against a supplemental military aid package to Israel earlier this year.

Capitol Police have increased security measures in Washington ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled address to Congress on Wednesday afternoon.

The plan includes “adding more officers—including from several outside agencies” and “ensuring that we have enough resources for our teams,” according to a Capitol Police statement cited by U.S. media.

“We anticipate a large number of demonstrators to show up. We respect everyone’s First Amendment rights, however all demonstrations must be done peacefully and legally,” the statement added, per Axios.

Netanyahu is set to address a joint session of Congress at 2 p.m. per the invitation of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

The speech will mark the fourth time the Israeli premier has addressed the legislatures, a record for a foreign leader.

The U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR), an organization that coordinates the efforts of over 300 anti-Israel groups, has warned that “tens of thousands of people from across the U.S.” will gather at the Capitol during the speech to demand a “citizen’s arrest” of Netanyahu.

Last month, JVP described Israel’s rescue of four hostages during a complex operation as part of an ongoing “genocide” in Gaza.

“The acceleration of the Israeli military’s genocide of Palestinians was on full display today, as Israeli soldiers and drones massacred hundreds of Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza, supported and enabled by the U.S. government,” tweeted the anti-Israel NGO.

During the operation in a crowded residential neighborhood in the central Gaza Strip, Israeli forces recovered from Hamas captivity Noa Argamani, 26; Almog Meir Jan, 21; Andrey Kozlov, 27; and Shlomi Ziv, 40.

The hostages were all abducted by Hamas from the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im during the Oct. 7 massacre.

In May, JVP was widely criticized on social media for claiming that Israel scheduled its Holocaust Remembrance Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day to eclipse the nakba. (The word refers to the “catastrophe” of Israel’s founding.)

“Yesterday, the Israeli government ended its yearly cycle of state holidays that sequentially commemorates the Holocaust, Israeli militarism and the creation of the State of Israel,” JVP wrote.

“The sequencing of these holidays was intentionally designed to conclude and obscure May 15, the day Palestinians mark the ongoing Nakba.”

JVP, which describes itself as “the largest progressive Jewish anti-Zionist organization in the world,” has been at the forefront of anti-Israel protests across the United States since Oct. 7.

The Anti-Defamation League describes JVP as “a radical anti-Israel activist group that advocates for a complete economic, cultural and academic boycott of the State of Israel,” while noting the organization “does not represent the mainstream Jewish community.”

The organization “rejects the view that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a tragic dispute over land which has been perpetuated by a cycle of violence, fear and distrust on both sides, in favor of the belief that Israeli policies and actions are motivated by deeply rooted Jewish racial chauvinism and religious supremacism.”

By Dion J. Pierre, The Algemeiner

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) on Monday filed a complaint with the US Federal Election Commission (FEC) accusing the political fundraising arm of Jewish Voice for Peace of misrepresenting its spending and receiving unlawful donations from corporate entities, citing “discrepancies” in the organization’s income and expense reports.

The complaint lodges a slew of charges against Jewish Voice for Peace’s political action committee (JVP PAC), including spending almost no money on candidates running for office — a political action committee’s main purpose.

From 2020-2023, JVP PAC reported spending $82,956, but just a small fraction of that sum — $1,775, just over 2 percent — was spent on candidates, according to the complaint.

The money went elsewhere, being paid out in one case for “legal services” provided by a company which “doesn’t appear to practice law” and other expenses.

The ADL described such spending as “unusual” and said that full disclosure of JVP PAC’s spending is necessary for assurance of its compliance with the Federal Election Campaign Act.

“Simply put, JVP PAC’s numbers do not add up, and despite repeated warnings from the FEC, the PAC has failed to correct the record,” ADL chief legal officer Steven Sheinberg said in a statement.

“Moreover, while JVP PAC holds itself out to the public as a mechanism for supporting candidates for federal elected office, a significant majority of the PAC’s spending did not go to candidates or have any apparent direct connection to a federal campaign. The public deserves to know where this money is going, and the FEC must hold JVP accountable for violations of the law.”

The ADL also accused JVP PAC of amassing enormous in-kind contributions from its affiliate, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), which is registered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a social welfare organization.

While the group has reported compensating JVP for services it provided, there is evidence that the cash value of those services far exceed any amount JVP PAC has actually paid.

“The whole complaint demonstrates, in our view, pattern and practice of misbehavior that we should take very seriously,” Sheinberg, who filed the legal action, told The Algemeiner on Monday during an interview.

“Taken together, together with the fact that they don’t spend money on candidates, it is very damning.”

Sheinberg noted that JVP PAC has been warned by the FEC, established in 1974 to regulate the flow of money into politics, about its conduct, a claim which The Algemeiner verified.

Since 2020, the FEC has sent JVP PAC four requests for additional information (RFAI), citing incomplete disclosures, potential errors in its accounting, contributions which exceeded federal limits, and other issues.

“It’s a troubling set of facts that people should know about,” Sheinberg said.

JVP is a fringe anti-Zionist organization that has long celebrated terrorism against Israelis. Along with the terrorist-linked Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) organization, JVP has been implicated in numerous antisemitic incidents on college campuses.

Representing a small fragment of the Jewish community, which is overwhelmingly Zionist, the group has been accused of being tokenized by anti-Israel groups as a way of concealing the antisemitic intent of targeting Jews and Israelis in higher education and, more broadly, calling for the destruction of the Jewish state.

At the conclusion of the academic year, the group played a role in helping SJP organize mass demonstrations in which students commandeered sections of their college campuses and refused to leave unless school officials acceded to their demands for a boycott of Israel and divestment from companies linked to it.

Before that, it cheered Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre across southern Israel.

JVP has powerful friends. In 2023, a landmark report by the National Association of Scholars (NAS) senior fellow Ian Oxnevad revealed that it has, since 2017, received $480,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, a philanthropic foundation whose endowment is valued at $1.27 billion.

Between 2014 and 2015 alone, JVP brought in over half a million dollars in grants from various foundations, indicating a growing alignment of philanthropic organizations with the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel that is fueling antisemitism on college campuses.

“JVP is very open about its support for BDS,” Oxnevad wrote. “[It] has issued multiple statements in support of [Students for Justice in Palestine] on campus and against allegations of antisemitism from pro-Israel organizations. Cooperation between SJP and JVP is widespread across college campuses and has lasted for years since the BDS movement’s emergence.”

JVP did not respond to a request for comment for this story.

By Jack Elbaum, The Algemeiner

US Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Wednesday met with a group of activists representing a fringe anti-Israel organization that did not condemn Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre across southern Israel and has long celebrated terrorism against Israelis.

Tlaib posted a picture on social media with a group of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) activists who visited her office, writing, “I am so grateful for @JVPLive Rabbis on the Hill for standing with us in solidarity to demand a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. I am so inspired by their advocacy to save lives, no matter their faith or ethnicity, and their commitment to uplifting the human dignity of Palestinians.”

In response to Tlaib’s meeting, pro-Israel activist Hen Mazzig wrote on X/Twitter: “The Jewish community knows which viewpoints from our community are mainstream or fringe, when we’re correctly being represented or not.”

“Tokenizing Jews is never to heal your relationship with our community; it’s to play kosher to people who don’t know better,” he continued.

JVP has long been criticized for allegedly celebrating and advocating terrorism.

On Oct. 7, it reposted a user who wrote, “Today’s events are more than just an operation, uprising, revolt, etc. Palestinian bulldozers tearing down the barrier that imprisoned them for more than 16 years is symbolic of Gaza’s defiance in the face of decades of siege, massacres, & occupation.”

Hamas terrorists launched a surprise invasion of Israel on Oct. 7, murdering 1,200 people, kidnapping 253 others as hostages, and launching the current war in Gaza.

Nonetheless, JVP wrote in an official statement on Oct. 7 that while it “grieve[s] the lives of those already lost,” Israel’s “war on Palestinians started over 75 years ago. Israeli apartheid and occupation — and United States complicity in that oppression — are the source of all this violence. Reality is shaped by when you start the clock.”

“Inevitably, oppressed people everywhere will seek — and gain — their freedom,” JVP added. “We all deserve liberation, safety, and equality. The only way to get there is by uprooting the sources of the violence, beginning with our own government’s complicity.”

JVP has also created and distributed flyers that read “L’Chaim Intifada.”

The flyer was created in 2003, at the height of the second intifada, which featured more than 130 suicide bombings against Israeli civilians and countless shooting and stabbing attacks.

The flyer also included a celebratory picture of Leila Khaled, a Palestinian terrorist who hijacked a plane in 1969 and attempted to do it again a year later.

Reportedly, the poster was intended to commemorate the first intifada, which included the murder of almost 300 Israelis but was significantly less violent than the second intifada.

JVP also supports rallies calling to “globalize the intifada” and chants of “there is only one solution, intifada revolution,” which many take to mean an increase in suicide bombings and other terror attacks against Jews and Israelis.

This is not the first time Tlaib has met with fringe figures. In January, she participated in an event with a woman who defended Hamas, doubted that it used sexual and gender-based violence on Oct. 7, and compared Gaza to the infamous Auschwitz extermination camp used by the Nazis.

“Hamas members, like all Palestinians, just want freedom. They have always warmly welcomed people, irrespective of religion and nationality, including Jewish Israelis, who come in solidarity, not as occupiers,” the woman Tlaib appeared with wrote in November.

Additionally, in February, Tlaib was the only House member not to vote “yes” on a resolution that condemned Hamas’ use of sexual and gender-based violence on Oct. 7.

Tlaib explained she voted “present” because the resolution “completely ignores and erases any sexual violence and abuse committed by the Israeli forces, against Palestinians, especially children.”

The vote caused significant backlash, with Michael Dickson, executive director of the pro-Israel group StandWithUs, saying, “Rashida Tlaib is so racist she cannot bring herself to condemn the brutal rape of women used by Hamas as a weapon of war … because the women that were raped were Jewish Israelis. A new low. Most American women — and men — will recoil in horror at her vote.”

After the Hamas atrocities of Oct. 7, Tlaib flew a Palestinian flag outside her home and seemingly blamed Israel for the attack, accusing the Jewish state of having an “apartheid system” that fosters “conditions that can lead to resistance.”

Tlaib and other members of the so-called “Squad” of far left progressive House members came under fire for slamming Israel without condemning Hamas by name.

Tlaib also accused US President Joe Biden of supporting a “genocide” against Palestinians by backing Israel’s right to defend itself in the wake of the Hamas onslaught.

In November, Tlaib was censured by her colleagues in the US House of Representatives for her recent spate of anti-Israel comments amid the Jewish state’s war with Hamas.

The censure measure accused Tlaib of “promoting false narratives” regarding Hamas’ Oct. 7 invasion and of “calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.”

By The Associated Press

Police took into custody more than 100 people protesting the Pennsylvania state government’s investments in Israel on Monday, shutting down a demonstration on the steps of the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg.

A spokesperson for the Department of General Services, which includes the Pennsylvania Capitol Police, said 126 people were taken into custody at what he described as an unpermitted, unauthorized demonstration. They were ordered to disperse before being arrested, issued citations for trespassing and then released, said spokesperson Troy Thompson.

The protestors, many wearing T-shirts that said “divest from genocide,” clapped and chanted during the protest, which organizers said was targeted at the state Treasury Department’s investment in Israel bonds.

One large sign said the state should reinvest that tax money in health care, housing, schools, and climate. There were chants of “free Palestine” before and after they were arrested.

The event was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, the Philly Palestine Coalition, and the Pennsylvania Council on American-Islamic Relations. It began Monday morning outside the Capitol but moved to the Rotunda by early afternoon.

Lilah Saber, a participant in the protest, said it was solely focused on the state’s investment in Israeli bonds.

“We did not plan on being arrested, but we were arrested,” Saber said.

Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity, a Republican, said state treasurers of both parties have invested in Israel bonds for more than 30 years. The state’s share of Israel bonds rose by $20 million after the Hamas attack that began the war in Gaza and is currently $56 million, Garrity said in a statement released by her office.

The state also holds about $8 million in other Israel-based securities. Together with the $56 million, that amounts to about 0.14% of the funds the Treasury Department actively manages, Garrity said.

This story has been corrected to show that Lilah Saber is a protester and not a member of Jewish Voice for Peace.
