Arab-Israeli professor who denied Gaza terrorists raped Israelis, accused Israel of ‘genocide,’ arrested for incitement.

An anti-Zionist Arab-Israeli professor from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem who has accused Israel of “genocide” while denying Hamas atrocities on October 7th has been arrested for incitement.

Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, a Haifa-born dual U.S.-Israeli citizen who holds the Lawrence D. Biele Chair at Hebrew University’s law school, was arrested Thursday and taken to the Harel police station in Mevaseret Zion, west of Jerusalem, for questioning.

Elhanan, Fellheimer, the chairman of the National Union of Students, applauded Shalhoub-Kevorkian’s arrest, saying it would “mark a new way of handling the whole issue of incitement in academia and incitement against Israel in general.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (Otzma Yehudit), whose portfolio includes the Israel Police, praised officers for the arrest, tweeting: “Congratulations to the police for the arrest of professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, who incited against the State of Israel. This arrest conveys an important message – those who incite against the State of Israel will not be able to cover themselves under a position or title.”

Israeli police requested approval in early April to open a criminal probe into Shalhoub-Kevorkian’s recent statements, after she appeared in a television interview and a podcast, denying atrocities by Gaza terrorists during the October 7th invasion while accusing Israel of war crimes and genocide.

In March, Hebrew University suspended Shalhoub-Kevorkian and issued a statement condemning her comments on the October 7th invasion and the subsequent war with Hamas.

“The Hebrew University rejects all of her distorted statements with disgust. The Hebrew University is proud to be an Israeli, public, and Zionist institution.”

Shalhoub-Kevorkian had appeared on Channel 14, telling the outlet that she questioned the veracity of the rapes and other atrocities committed by Gaza terrorists on October 7th.

Days earlier, she made similar comments on the “Makdisi Street” podcast, and repeatedly referred to the State of Israel as “dishonest” and “criminal,” calling the “Zionist entity” a “killing machine.”

“They will use everything to further kill,” Shalhoub-Kevorkian said. “It is a killing machine, and it is a necropolitical regime that can survive only on the erasure of Palestinians and only when they will stop this and they will acknowledge what they are doing then we can start talking…but not to criminals.”

Despite her comments, however, Hebrew University reinstated Shalhoub-Kevorkian in late March.

A professor who denied the atrocities, including sexual violence, committed by the Hamas group on October 7th will be returned to her teaching position at Hebrew University after a brief suspension, the school said in a statement.

Following Hamas’ unprecedented invasion into southern Israel, which left some 1,200 Israelis dead, Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian said reports of the terror group’s mass rapes and slaughters were “lies.”

Speaking on Channel 14 News earlier in March, Shalhoub-Kevorkian claimed that Israel was exaggerating details about the Hamas attack in order to justify a military operation in the Gaza Strip.

“They will use every lie, they started with babies, they continued with rape, they will continue with a million other lies every day, we stopped believing them, I hope the world stops believing them.”

Additionally, she said that Israelis became nervous when she speaks in Arabic in public spaces, and that the reaction pleased her.

Israelis “should be scared because criminals are always scared… it’s time to abolish Zionism. It can’t continue, it’s criminal. Only by abolishing Zionism can we continue,” she said.

Shalhoub-Kevorkian, who is considered an expert in gender and sexual violence, was suspended after a public outcry over her statements.

But on Wednesday evening, Hebrew University announced that it had reinstated Shalhoub-Kevorkian and that she would be resuming her position effective immediately.

A statement from the university said that during discussions with the rector, “Shalhoub-Kevorkian clarified that as a critical feminist researcher, she believes all victims and does not cast doubt in their words and that she does not deny the fact that on October 7th there were cases of rape in the Gaza envelope.”

The statement did not explain why the professor’s stance on the sexual assaults had dramatically changed.

“After receiving this clarification, as far as the university is concerned, nothing is preventing Prof. Shalhoub-Kevorkian from continuing to teach in the School of Social Work and Public Welfare.”

The school concluded by stating that “the Hebrew University fully condemns incitement and threats against students, lecturers, individuals, and groups, and calls on the members of the university community to maintain a safe and respectful learning and research environment.”

In Columbia University lecture, Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian claims Israel tests weapons on Palestinians.

In a lecture last Tuesday at Columbia University, an Arab professor of social work from Jerusalem’s Hebrew University said the IDF tests various weapons against innocent Palestinians in order to learn which are the most powerful, Army Radio reported Sunday.

Dozens in the prestigious New York institution heard Professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian’s wild accusations, including the claim that “Israel does weapons tests on Palestinian children,” according to the radio report, which aired statements recorded during her talk.

“Palestinian spaces are laboratories for the Israeli security industry,” Shalhoub-Kevorkian asserted. Furthermore, the IDF specifically targets the younger generation for these alleged tests, she said, backing up the claim by quoting from the alleged testimony of a few children.

“The army checks what bombs to use – gas bombs or stink bombs,” a child named Muhammad said, according to the report. “Whether to put over us plastic bags or cloth bags, whether to hit us with their rifles or kick us with their boots.”

Other allegations made during the speech included a statement that when Chad’s president visited Israel in November, he was brought to Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem to see how the Israelis “are really controlling the people and the area” – using closed-circuit cameras. The African leader made no secret of the fact that his historic visit was focused on security issues, as his government is fighting a rebellion in the northern part of the country.

The professor’s speech, titled “Violent Technologies in Palestinian Jerusalem,” was based on alleged research she did in Israel during her tenure at Hebrew University. It is also presented abroad as a Hebrew University study, Dabush reported.

The university did not condemn the lecture. “The views expressed by Professor Nadera Shalhoub Kevorkian do not represent or express in any way the Hebrew University or the administration of the University; these are her personal opinions which express only herself,” it said in a statement.

The event was condemned by Zionist organization Im Tirtzu, which focuses largely on campus issues.

Hebrew University is facing yet another controversy following the incident in which a student in uniform was reprimanded.

A senior professor at Hebrew University, Prof. Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, is scheduled to deliver a lecture later this month in Amsterdam accusing Israel of exploiting Palestinian children to promote arms sales.

The conference, “Technologies of Violence at Damascus Gate,” is being organized by the Faculty for Israeli-Palestinian Peace (FFIPP).

According to the event description, first reported on by the Makor Rishon newspaper, Shalhoub-Kevorkian will explain how Israel uses the “bodies and lives” and “daily suffering” of Palestinian children in order to improve its weapon sales.

Through the “the voices and writings of Jerusalemite children who live under Occupation,” says the promotional material for the event, Shalhoub-Kevorkain “will reveal how surveying, imprisoning, torturing, and killing can be used as a laboratory for states, arms companies, and security agencies to market their technologies as ‘combat proven.'”

Shalhoub-Kevorkian is the Lawrence D. Biele Chair of Law at Hebrew University.

In response to the upcoming FFIPP event, Hebrew University responded that “the lecturer accepted the invitation to the conference on her own initiative, without the involvement of the university or any connection to her position.”

Israeli taxpayer funded?

Matan Peleg, CEO of the Im Tirtzu organization, a pro-Zionist NGO, charged that it is a “disgrace that Shalhoub-Kevorkian – whose salary is paid for by the Israeli taxpayer – is given free rein to slander Israel and fuel the fires of BDS.

“It seems that every week there is another instance of anti-Zionism at Hebrew University,” said Peleg,” which is unfortunately unsurprising given the administration’s allowance for anti-Israel activity to fester on its campus, including inciting protests against the IDF, nixing Hatikvah at graduation ceremonies, and holding biased conferences replete with far-left speakers.”

Last week, the university faced criticism after a lecturer scolded a student who had attended class wearing an IDF uniform. The lecturer, Dr. Carola Hilfrich, apologized and the university published an advertisement welcoming students in uniform.
