Prime Minister Netanyahu revealed that many Arab nations and communities are reaching out to Israel for protection, while boasting about four peace deals he and President Trump brokered over the course of the war.

There is one major drawback to US President Donald Trump’s latest effort to end the Gaza conflict: Palestinian leaders and some Gulf Arab states — in particular Qatar have absolutely no intention of agreeing to, or implementing, a lasting peace deal with Israel.

For nearly eight decades, Palestinian leaders have consistently rejected offers to end hostilities with Israel.

While Mahmoud Abbas, the so-called “moderate” leader of the Palestinian Authority, has said he is willing to work with the Trump administration on a peace plan for Gaza, the chances of any negotiations with the Palestinians reaching a successful conclusion are remote if their track record is anything to go by.

In his speech to the UN General Assembly in New York, Trump renewed his calls for an end to the violence, insisting that “we have to stop the war in Gaza immediately.” At the same time, he revealed that his administration remained “deeply engaged” in efforts to secure a ceasefire.

As if to emphasise the point, details of the Trump administration’s latest 21-point plan for ending the Gaza conflict have been published by the Times of Israel.

It reports that the main objective is for Palestinians to remain in Gaza while efforts are undertaken for the creation of a pathway to a future Palestinian state.

The document, which was reportedly shared by the US with a handful of Arab and Muslim countries earlier this week on the sidelines of the UN summit, also contains clauses that have been the basis of previous ceasefire attempts by the Trump administration, such as linking the ceasefire to the release of all Israeli hostages held in Gaza and to Hamas’s removal from power.

The suggestion, though, that the estimated two million Palestinians currently occupying the Gaza Strip should remain there would mark a significant shift in White House policy.

Trump has previously encouraged the notion of relocating Gaza’s entire population.

The proposals outlined in the document, which have been drawn up under the auspices of Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, certainly indicate a marked shift in Trump’s position on the issue, raising fears that the US leader is moving in a different direction to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who remains committed to achieving the complete destruction of Hamas to prevent further attacks on Israel in the future.

Signs of deepening tensions between Trump and Netanyahu on the Gaza issue also emerged during the US summit, following reports that the US leader personally promised Arab and Muslim leaders that he would not allow Israel to annex Judea and Samaria, a move that ostensibly would be an obstacle to advancing the Abraham Accords.

Of course, other excuses might surface, if “needed.”

Trump’s approach is certainly at odds with the position of the Israeli prime minister, who used his own speech to the UN to insist that Israel must “finish the job” in Gaza, a request also made by Trump.

Netanyahu denounced moves by a number of countries, including the UK, France, Canada and Australia, to recognise a Palestinian state, telling them, “You didn’t do something right. You did something wrong, horribly wrong.”

Despite Netanyahu’s determination to maintain Israel’s military offensive against Hamas, Trump continues to insist that the negotiations to end the conflict have been intense and productive, posting on Truth Social that “intense negotiations have been going on for four days, and will continue for as long as necessary in order to get a Successfully Completed Agreement.”

The main stumbling block to Trump’s repeated efforts to end the conflict in Gaza, though, remains the fact that Palestinian leaders, and Qatar, have no genuine interest in negotiating a permanent peace deal with Israel.

It is an attitude that has underpinned their attitude to all previous diplomatic efforts to achieve peace.

While both Trump and Netanyahu are insistent that Hamas’s leadership can play no role in future negotiations on resolving the Gaza conflict, it is equally clear that the so-called moderate Palestinian politicians, such as Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, have no genuine interest in agreeing to any kind of lasting settlement with Israel.

Qatar, as well as other Gulf States, which reportedly are expected to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza, will doubtless demand a role in its future governance. Such a concession, even if Israel were to monitor security, would be a monumental recipe for disaster.

Qatar has a history of funding effectively all radical Islamic terrorist groups — from ISIS to Al-Qaeda to Hamas to the Taliban –and appears solidly committed to furthering the policies of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Even if Hamas is not included in a future Gaza, there is always room theoretically for a clone of Hamas with a different name.

As Egypt and Islamist groups continue smuggling weapons into the “new” Gaza, there will undoubtedly be endless friction with Israel, not to mention the Palestinians whom the current negotiators insist stay in place.

With sufficient incentives, many countries might be glad to spare them years of living in rubble.

The best idea, and in the long run far less expensive militarily and diplomatically, would be if Trump would return to his original idea of Gaza as a kind of US-Israeli “Riviera” protectorate, preferably with a US military base.

Then one would not even need any further Abraham Accords: a US military presence should be sufficient to deter aggression and keep peace — as it has done so successfully in Qatar.

Not all Arab states might like this approach. It certainly would deprive them of the opportunity, should the winds change, of trying again to destroy Israel.

In addition, the rejectionism of successive generations of Palestinian leaders is well-documented, dating back to when the Nazi-collaborating Palestinian leader, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Hajj Amin Husseini, rejected the UN’s 1947 partition plan that included a two-state solution.

Palestinian leaders have maintained this rejectionist attitude ever since. Yasser Arafat, the head of the Palestine Liberation Organization, summarily rejected far-reaching concessions offered by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak at the Camp David summit organised by US President Bill Clinton in 2000, without even bothering to offer a counterproposal.

Abbas proved to be equally intransigent when then Israeli premier Ehud Olmert offered the Palestinians even greater sweeping concessions.

Nor is there any likelihood that Abbas and other members of the Palestinian leadership will be prepared actually to engage positively, apart from elusive promises, with the Trump administration’s latest peace proposals.

Abbas’s refusal to engage with Trump during the latter’s first term was the main reason that the Palestinians were overlooked during the groundbreaking negotiations that resulted in the Abraham Accords in 2020, which resulted in a number of Arab states normalising relations with Israel.

So even if, as Trump insists, Hamas is excluded from any future negotiations on the future of Gaza and the Palestinians, the likelihood of his administration having any positive talks with so-called “moderate” Palestinian leaders, such as Abbas — or any prospects of a true, long-term peace if Arab countries are allowed to run Gaza — sadly, the end to decades of hostility will continue to be non-existent.

Trump’s deal with the Houthis sent everyone in the Middle East the message that the Trump administration has finally thrown Israel under the bus.

As US President Donald J. Trump was being hosted in Saudi Arabia by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler of the kingdom, the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen fired another ballistic missile at Israel.

The missile, which flew over Saudi Arabia on its way to Israel, was fortunately intercepted by the Israel Defense Forces before reaching its intended target.

The Houthis, in fact, fired three ballistic missiles at Israel, right over the Crown Prince’s head.

The missile attacks came less than a week after Trump announced that he had reached a separate ceasefire deal with the Houthis to end their attacks on American-flagged vessels in the Red Sea.

“They just don’t want to fight, and we will honor that,” Trump said. “We will stop the bombings, and they have capitulated. But more importantly, we will take their word. They said they will not be blowing up any ships anymore.”

Sadly, anyone who takes the word of a terrorist group is living in a dream world. Just look at Afghanistan.

The Taliban could not wait to break their vow to make sure that women’s rights would be protected. Women have been erased. They can no longer “work, sing, travel, study,” or even appear near a window.

Israel took the word of Hamas when the terror group repeatedly indicated its desire to maintain a truce. In the end, however, on October 7, 2023, Israel paid a heavy price for its gullibility.

Thousands of Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, murdered 1,200 people, many of whom were attending a music festival, wounded thousands, and kidnapped 251 others, dragging them into the Gaza Strip. Of those, 58 are still being held by Hamas. Only 23 are believed to still be alive.

The Trump-Houthi agreement, notably, did not require the Iranian proxy militia to stop its missile attacks on Israel. The Yemeni group therefore did not hesitate to launch a ballistic missile at Israel during Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

By using the Houthis to attack Israel, Iran — hiding behind the skirts of the Houthis rather than attacking Israel itself – could congratulate itself on staying safe from potential retaliation.

The missile attack from Yemen seemed a clear message to the US president that the Houthis, as well as Iran’s mullahs, are happy to continue their assaults on Israel.

In the eyes of Iran and the Houthis, Trump’s separate peace deal that excluded Israel is a captivating green light to continue their attacks on “The Little Satan”, while obligingly halting their assaults on vessels in the Red Sea.

Trump’s deal with the Houthis sent everyone in the Middle East the message that the Trump administration has finally thrown Israel under the bus.

A pro-Houthi social media account mocked Saudi Arabia, Trump and Israel in a cartoon that depicted the US president squeezing money out of the Saudis as a Houthi missile is seen soaring over his head on its way to Israel.

An Egyptian social media user, “Emmy Hamdy,” commented:

“Trump is milking the Pseudo Arabs of their billions while the true Arabs are defending Palestine – God bless Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthis) and its mighty people.”

A Houthi spokesman announced on May 13:

“The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation targeting Lod Airport, Israeli name ‘Ben Gurion’… using a hypersonic ballistic missile. The missile successfully achieved its target, thanks to Allah, and led millions of occupying Zionists to flee to the shelters and halting airport operations for nearly an hour.”

The spokesman threatened that missile attacks on Israel will continue in support of the “oppressed Palestinian people.”

Senior Houthi official Nasruddin Amer said:

“Everyone, including international airlines, should realize that the Zionist entity is unsafe and could be targeted at any moment. Our operations will not stop until the [Israeli] aggression on Gaza stops.”

Worse, Trump’s agreement does not require the Houthis to abandon their jihad (holy war) against either the US or Israel. Notably, the political slogan of the Houthis reads:

“God [Allah] is Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse be upon the Jews, Victory to Islam.”

A new Houthi slogan appeared after the US re-designated the militia as a terrorist organization: “America is the Mother of Terrorism.”

The Houthis may have agreed to a temporary cessation of attacks on American targets, but they have certainly not abandoned their jihad to murder Israelis and Americans.

Just as Trump’s deal with the Houthis was interpreted by Yemen’s Houthis as a green light to continue missile attacks on Israel, his administration’s direct negotiations with Hamas, as well as his visit to Qatar — Hamas’s major sponsor and funder — is seen by many Palestinians and Arabs as a victory for the Palestinian terror group.

According to Palestinian political analyst Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib:

“Hamas accounts on Twitter and Telegram are exploding in orgies of joy, arrogance, foolish proclamations, and declarations that they’re finally being recognized and legitimized by the USA.

They’re ecstatic that their employer, Qatar, just “purchased” the US presidency with a $400 million 747 jet and a Golf Course, making the unconditional release of an American-Israeli hostage, Edan Alexander, from Gaza’s tunnels completely worth it.

“One ‘analyst’ for the terror group declared that this is the first direct ‘political agreement’ between the United States and Hamas, while another bragged about how Sinwar’s October 7th attack ultimately made it possible for Hamas to force Trump to ‘kneel’ before the group to retrieve hostages thanks to the billions of its chief backer, Qatar.”

Qatar wanted the American-Israeli hostage released as a gesture to Trump on the eve of his visit to the Gulf state. Hamas leaders were not able to say no to Qatar, and immediately complied.

This event shows that Qatar has enough influence over Hamas to instruct it to release all the hostages. Qatar could have used its influence from the beginning to force Hamas to release all of them; but it did not.

Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, Qatar, which hosts several senior Hamas leaders, has failed to pressure the terror group to release all the hostages, disarm or cede control over the Gaza Strip.

Qatar wants to make sure that its long-standing allies, Iran and Hamas, remain strong and in power after the current war.

Trump and his Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are being played and appear not even to know it. If they do know it, personal friendships and financial rescues have apparently taken priority over hard-nosed negotiating.

Their only priority seems to have been raking in trillions of dollars from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, a Trump golf resort in Saudi Arabia, a $400 million “flying palace” from Qatar, a Trump hotel in Dubai and the promise of a Trump Tower in Damascus.

In addition to the deals with the Houthis and Hamas, Trumps’ visit to Qatar and his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a “reformed” Islamist terrorist affiliated with al-Qaeda, have drawn criticism from several Arab political commentators.

Egyptian political analyst Nervana Mahmoud commented on May 13 about Trump’s decision to meet with al-Sharaa and lift US sanctions on Syria:

“Donald Trump may go down in history as the American President who empowered Islamism around the globe, more than any other president in the history of the USA.”

She added:

“After 24 years of bloody hostilities, today al-Qaeda has reached a peace deal with the USA.”

The next day, she commented on the economic and defense agreements Trump signed with Saudi Arabia and Qatar:

“Post Conversation Nervana Mahmoud @Nervana_1 Americans are ( rightly) happy with the business side of the deals, but they fail to grasp the political price of appeasing rebranded Islamists like Syria de-facto leader.”

Trump and his advisors undoubtedly have good intentions, but they appear not to have taken into consideration that engaging Islamist leaders such as al-Sharaa and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and trying to strike deals with Iran and its Hamas and Houthi terror proxies, instead emboldens these terrorists and enemies of the US.

After Trump returns to Washington, he will quickly discover that the Islamists and their sponsors in the Middle East have not changed.

Iran, Hamas and the Houthis will continue to call for death to Israel and America. Qatar will continue to provide political and financial support to anti-American Islamists and other Jihadis.

As for Syria’s jihadist president, the belief that he will transform himself into a moderate pro-Western Arab leader and a democrat is, unfortunately, nothing but a joke.

The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are different: their leaders have made a strategic choice to distance themselves from Islamist terror groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Hezbollah.

In addition to signing peace treaties with Israel, the two countries have worked to strengthen their economic and security ties with Israel and boost normalization with Israelis.

Saudi Arabia, under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also appears to be moving in that direction, though at a much slower pace. MBS will not join the Abraham Accords. Trump’s wish that he would sign onto them “in your own time” is a sweet, naïve dream.

The Abraham Accords need more moderate Arabs and Muslims, not jihadists who consider Israel and the US as the No. 1 enemy of Arabs and Muslims.

If Trump were to use military force against Iran’s nuclear weapons program, it would not only be a blow to Tehran and its terror proxies, it would enormously empower the moderate Arabs and Muslims who correctly view the mullahs as a threat to their national security and stability.

If Trump wants real peace and prosperity, he must, unfortunately, act against Iran and its terror proxies, and distance himself from jihadists and their sponsors, especially Qatar.

Such a move would be the best way to expand the Abraham Accords and encourage other Arabs to seize hold of Trump’s great promise.

A Middle East that includes a Palestinian state controlled by Iran and Islamist terrorists will be a less secure region.

Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has repeatedly spoken of the need for a “pathway” for the creation of a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem.

According to Blinken, a Palestinian state would have two positive effects: First, it would pave the way for a normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, and second, it would “isolate” Iran and its terrorist proxies, including Hamas and Hezbollah.

This is the same Blinken who has put pressure on Israel to refrain from a military operation to destroy the remaining four Hamas battalions in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

If the battalions are not destroyed, it means that Hamas will remain in power and that Israel will, by default, lose the war.

Hamas would be able to rebuild its military and, as it has vowed, will repeat the October 7 attack, time and again, until Israel is annihilated.

In addition, a Hamas victory would catapult the terror group’s power and popularity among Palestinians, as well as Hezbollah, the Houthis and other terrorist groups.

A Hamas victory would accurately be seen globally as proof that terrorism not only works but is rewarded.

A Hamas victory would also definitively seal the chances of Iran and Qatar continuing to control the Palestinian state that Blinken is so keen to establish – as is seemingly the Biden administration’s intent.

Opinion polls conducted by Palestinian organizations have repeatedly shown that a majority of Palestinians vastly prefer Hamas to the Palestinian Authority’s ruling Fatah faction of PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

Shortly after Hamas’s October 7 atrocities, 57% of respondents in the Gaza Strip and 82% in the West Bank said the terrorist group was “correct” to launch the attack.

“The work that Saudi Arabia, the United States have been doing together in terms of our own agreements, I think, is potentially very close to completion,” Blinken said during a recent visit to the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

“But then in order to move forward with normalization, two things will be required — calm in Gaza and a credible pathway to a Palestinian state.”

Saudi Arabia and the US are reportedly working on the details of an agreement to boost bilateral trade and defense ties – but a deal will not happen unless the kingdom and Israel establish diplomatic ties, US officials say.

The US argument is that a defense pact would solidify the seven-decade security alliance between Saudi Arabia and the US, tying the two countries ever closer together as US adversaries such as Iran, Russia and China seek to expand their influence in the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters earlier this year after a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Blinken tried to claim that the region faces two paths.

The first is “to integrate Israel, with security guarantees and commitments from the countries of the region and also the United State and [the second is] to create a Palestinian state — at least a path that leads to that state.”

Blinken added that, in his view, strengthening Israel’s security and creating a Palestinian state would be the best way to thwart attacks by Iran’s regional proxies such as Hamas, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis and various militias that have carried out attacks on US and foreign interests in Syria and Iraq.

By establishing a link between Israeli-Saudi normalization and the establishment of a Palestinian state, Blinken would also give the Palestinians a veto right on any peace deal between Israel and an Arab country.

Many Arab countries, of course, have already demonstrated that they are capable of making peace with Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state.

If the Saudis were really interested in normalizing their relations with Israel, they could have done so long ago.

Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is delaying the move, in part, reportedly, out of fear of facing a backlash from his own people.

He may, however, also have serious reservations that he would prefer not to talk about in public.

The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan never made their normalization agreements with Israel conditional on the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The Saudis pay a lot of lip service to a Palestinian state but have done little, if anything, in the last eight decades to help the Palestinians achieve a state.

Long before the 2020 Abraham Accords, Egypt and Jordan signed peace treaties with Israel without insisting on the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Decades later, those peace treaties are still in force, although no Palestinian state was ever established.

Like most Arabs, the Saudis could not care less about a Palestinian state and might secretly prefer not to have one at all.

They are no doubt aware that the Palestinians themselves are the biggest obstacle to the establishment of a state of their own.

During the past eight decades, they have acted as a serial wrecking ball to every peaceful place they set foot.

When Jordan graciously hosted them, in 1951, a Palestinian associated with Hitler’s great ally, the former Mufti of Jerusalem, assassinated King Abdullah I.

In 1970, in a bloodletting called “Black September,” Palestinians tried to overthrow the government of King Hussein, after which the Palestinians were forced to flee to Lebanon.

Since 2005, when the Israelis unconditionally transferred every millimeter of Gaza to the Palestinians so they could build a “Singapore on the Mediterranean,” Palestinian leaders squandered hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign aid and failed to create adequate state institutions and a free and vibrant democracy.

Moreover, the power struggle between the two main parties, Fatah and Hamas, has led to the creation of two separate entities for the Palestinians – one in the West Bank, ruled by the Mahmoud Abbas’s Palestinian Authority, and a second in the Gaza Strip, ruled by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, supported by Qatar and Iran.

The last thing most Arab states want is a Hamas-controlled Palestinian state.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain justifiably regard Hamas and other Islamist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood as a threat to their national security, most likely the main reason they all have refused to take in Gazan refugees.

Blinken’s claim that a Palestinian state would “isolate” Iran and its proxies is pure nonsense.

The opposite is the case. Iran, its proxies and Qatar would doubtless be extremely happy if the Biden administration would allow them to establish a terrorist state on Israel’s doorstep.

This state would be used by Iran and its terrorists as a launching pad for more October 7-style massacres of Israelis to further their goal of destroying first Israel, then the Arab states.

It is Israel — not Iran — that will find itself “isolated” and surrounded by Iran-backed Islamist terrorist groups thirsting for Jewish blood.

Blinken’s claim that establishing a Palestinian state would bring security and stability to the Middle East is, to put it as nicely as possible, counterfactual.

Palestinians had an independent Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip since 2005.

In 2007, Hamas overthrew the ruling Palestinian Authority in Gaza and took full control there.

At the time Palestinian Authority security officers were dragged into the streets and lynched, while another was thrown to his death from the roof of a high building.

The Hamas-controlled Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip poses a threat not only to the Palestinian Authority, but also to Israel and Egypt.

For years prior to the October 7 atrocities, Hamas fired tens of thousands of rockets and mortar shells from the Gaza Strip at Israeli cities and towns.

The Egyptians, for their part, accused Hamas of working closely with Islamist terrorist groups in the Sinai who were responsible for killing Egyptian soldiers and civilians.

One can only imagine what would happen if Iran and its proxies could extend their control to east Jerusalem and the West Bank.

They would undoubtedly turn these areas into bases for jihad (holy war) against Israel, as they have done in the Gaza Strip.

A Middle East that includes a Palestinian state controlled by Iran and Islamist terrorists will be a less secure region, especially after Iran acquires nuclear weapons.

The new Palestinian state will not only be used to attack Israel, but also to undermine security and stability in neighboring countries, especially Jordan and Egypt.

The Iranian regime and its puppets have never been satisfied with the peace treaties that these two Arab countries signed with Israel.

Just in case Blinken does not know it, Iran, through its proxies, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, has already succeeded in infiltrating the West Bank.

In recent years, the Israeli authorities have thwarted some of the countless attempts by Iran to smuggle weapons into the West Bank via Jordan.

“[Palestinian] Islamic Jihad is using Iranian money to buy weapons and loyalty in the West Bank,” said a Palestinian Authority official. “The organization is paying high salaries to its members.”

In the past three years, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas have established more armed cells and recruited dozens more gunmen in the northern West Bank, specifically the areas of Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarem, the official revealed.

The situation in the West Bank has become so dangerous that Abbas’s Fatah faction recently accused Iran of trying to spread chaos in its territory and declared that it would oppose outside operations that have nothing to do with the Palestinian cause.

Fatah said it would not allow “our holy cause and the blood of our people to be exploited” and warned that it would oppose any outside interference aimed at harming the security forces or national institutions.

Jamal Nazzal, a member of Fatah’s “Revolutionary Council,” said that Iran’s fingerprints on the Palestinian reality were devastating, indicating that Tehran had decided to fight Israel to the last drop of Arab blood.

In an interview with the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya TV channel, he added that Iran has agents, including Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas.

Nazzal pointed out that the Palestinian situation will not tolerate Iranian interference. He also noted that there are Iranian-backed armed groups in areas of the West Bank.

By continuing to obsessively promote the delusional idea of a Palestinian state, the Biden administration is sending a message to the Palestinians that it wants to reward them for launching the deadliest, most sickening attack on Jews since the Holocaust.

In addition, by trying to prevent Israel from destroying Hamas, the Biden administration is facilitating the creation of an Iranian-controlled terrorist state that can only become a source of instability in the Middle East and pose an existential threat not simply to Israel but to the region, especially after Iran acquires nuclear weapons.

By withholding ammunition and other military supplies from Israel, demanding that Israel end the war against Hamas and accept a Palestinian terror state, the Biden administration is advancing its already threadbare legacy since his surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban in 2021.

First, Biden, by reconfirming that terrorism “works,” would embolden all the other terrorists.

Just keep on terrorizing everyone, and, when your demands are met, keep on increasing and hardening them.

More significantly, by appeasing Iran, Qatar and potential voters in Michigan by creating a Palestinian state, the Biden administration will in fact be inviting Iran to initiate still more attacks – not only on Israel but also on US forces in the Middle East.

Iran has already launched more than 150 attacks on US troops in the Middle East just since October 2023, and nearly 300 since Biden took office in 2021.

If Iran finally coerces the US to withdraw from the region as it is reportedly thinking of doing, the regime will finally be able to take over its neighbors’ oil fields and holy sites without worrying about the US interfering.

Meanwhile, as the Biden administration, busy trying to win re-election in November, seems to have no idea how to end all the conflicts it ignited, directly or indirectly, in Gaza, Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific.

The US has been backing both sides of all of them. Iran, presumably taking advantage of these distractions, and perhaps as a consolation prize for losing so much of Hamas -– has been moving to take over Sudan.

It is a country rich in oil, gold, rare earth minerals and terrorism — and felicitously positioned to help Iran launch unlimited combat drones – the planet’s new “cheap, instant air force” — at both Israel and US forces, and enable Iran to use Sudan’s port on the Red Sea to continue obstructing maritime traffic.

After all, if terrorism “works,” why stop?

A senior Israeli government official said that increasingly harsh rhetoric from the Biden administration regarding the ongoing fighting in Gaza stems from concerns over the November 2024 presidential election.

Speaking at a conference in Eilat, Energy Minister Eli Cohen suggested that public criticisms of Israel were for the Democratic party’s political benefit, rather than representing a fundamental change in the U.S.’s view of Israel.

“The only change I see in the Americans’ stance is because of the upcoming elections in the United States,” Cohen said.

Cohen also downplayed the significance of American pressure to wrap up the war and avoid an invasion of Rafah, which President Biden has previously called a “red line.”

He emphasized that the Jewish State would make its own decisions, regardless of Washington.

“Israel is a sovereign state, and we are the only democracy in the region,” he said.

“If America, our greatest friend whom I greatly appreciate, does not give Israel absolute backing [for the Rafah invasion] – it has nothing to look for in the Middle East.”

Cohen also dismissed concerns that the fledging peace deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia – which appeared to be on the brink of coming to fruition just before October 7th – would no longer occur due to the war.

The Saudis “very much want an agreement with Israel, and their primary interest is a defense alliance with the United States,” Cohen said.

He also acknowledged a condition for normalization often stated by Saudi Arabia – a two-state solution that would see a self-governing, independent Palestinian entity.

Cohen said that he believed Riyadh would be flexible on that point.

“There will be peace with the Saudis even without a Palestinian state.”
