By Reuters and The Algemeiner

A photo of US President Donald Trump that had been removed from the cache of Jeffrey Epstein files released by the Department of Justice was restored on Sunday after officials determined none of Epstein’s victims were in the image, the department said.

The photo showing a desk with an open drawer containing a photo of Trump with various women was flagged by the Southern District of New York for review to protect potential victims.

“After the review, it was determined there is no evidence that any Epstein victims are depicted in the photograph, and it has been reposted without any alteration or redaction,” the Justice Department said on X on Sunday.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said earlier on Sunday his office removed the photo because of concerns about women in the photo.

“It has nothing to do with President Trump,” Blanche said during a Sunday morning appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker.”

The Justice Department released thousands of documents on Friday related to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender who committed suicide in 2019.

But it has drawn criticism, including from some Republicans, over extensive redactions and few documents mentioning Trump despite his well-publicized friendship with Epstein.

During an ABC News interview on Sunday, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called for a “full and complete investigation as to why the document production has fallen short of what the law clearly required.”

Up to 16 photos, including the desk drawer Trump image, were removed on Saturday from the Justice Department website, according to The New York Times, NPR and the Associated Press, although Reuters could not independently confirm the removals.

The Justice Department said on Sunday it acted with an abundance of caution after receiving requests from alleged victims and their lawyers to remove information.

Trump has not been accused of wrongdoing and has denied knowing about Epstein’s crimes.

By Batya Jerenberg, World Israel News

Israel has ignored for years the growing problem of the easy availability of highly detailed satellite imaging of its most sensitive above-ground sites, Ynet reported on Wednesday.

Pictures accurate to within 0.4 meter have been legally available from American commercial enterprises such as Google and Apple Maps since 2021, but were already on the market from non-American companies such as South Korea’s Kompsat for several years before that.

A 1997 law called the Kyl-Bingaman Amendment had specifically prohibited US authorities from granting a license for collecting or disseminating satellite imagery of Israel at a higher resolution than was available from non-American companies.

This helped Israel’s security as long as the Americans held the edge in such imaging, but by 2017, this was no longer the case, and four years ago, Congress changed the law to approve sales of imagery up to the 0.4-meter resolution limit.

This can put all military sites as well as the Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center near Dimona, which contains Israel’s only nuclear reactor, squarely in the crosshairs of any of Israel’s missile-equipped foes for just a few dollars per photo.

The Houthi terror group in Yemen, for example, which has launched dozens of ballistic missiles at the Jewish state over the past 18 months to support Hamas in the ongoing war in Gaza, repeatedly announces that it is aiming at military sites.

The Lebanese Shi’ite Hezbollah proxies of Iran have also fired attack drones and missiles aiming at such sensitive sites as the IDF’s headquarters in Tel Aviv and the huge chemical tanks in Haifa Bay, as well as threatening to go after Israel’s offshore natural gas rigs.

Iran itself launched two waves of hundreds of drones and guided missiles at Israel last year.

In all these cases, almost all the airborne threats were neutralized before reaching Israeli territory, but the potential danger of any future success is clear.

Ynet reported that both the IDF and the Defense Ministry refused to comment when asked about this national security issue, leading the media site to comment that “It appears the chosen approach is to ignore the problem — a strategy that has proven ineffective in recent years when dealing with security challenges.”

Since the government has very little to no leverage over commercial companies that are not under its jurisdiction, it would seem that Israel would have to move facilities underground or camouflage them in some way to evade satellites’ cameras, or else be well-prepared to defend them from attack when neither possibility exists.

While the first two options may be in the works, which would be highly classified information, Israel’s multi-layered anti-missile defense network is famed throughout the world for its proven, solid protection of the country.

By Jewish Breaking News

The National Library of Israel has unveiled an extensive collection of photographs chronicling the life of a Jewish war heroine.

Born in Budapest in 1921, Hannah Senesh received an Agfa Box-Spezial Camera at a young age, which became her constant companion.

Her photographs span from her early life in Budapest through family vacations, and later document her pioneering days in British Mandatory Palestine.

Senesh’s life took a dramatic turn in 1943 when she enlisted in the British army and volunteered for a dangerous paratrooper mission into Nazi-occupied Europe.

She was tasked to assist downed Allied pilots in escaping and to aid Jewish communities under Nazi occupation.

In March 1944, she parachuted into Slovenia with three fellow paratroopers. Tragically, on June 9, 1944, Hungarian police captured her in Budapest.

Despite enduring months of torture and the arrest of her mother, Senesh refused to divulge information to her captors.

She was ultimately charged with spying and treason, leading to her execution on November 7, 1944, at just 23 years old.

In 1945, Jewish Brigade soldier Moshe Braslavsky discovered a suitcase under her bed at Kibbutz Sdot Yam containing letters, diaries, and photo albums.

Later, a notebook of poetry, entrusted to a friend before her final mission, emerged to further cement her cultural impact.

In recognition of her sacrifice, Senesh was reinterred in 1950 at Israel’s national military cemetery on Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem.

The archive contains a treasure trove of her personal effects, including manuscripts, notebooks, photographs, documents, and personal items.

In her own words, preserved in letters to her mother, Senesh humorously noted, “Everyone wants me to photograph them, as if they’ve appointed me the court photographer.”

Her photographic legacy includes carefully curated albums with typewritten captions and personal annotations on the backs of photos, many of which were sent to her family in Hungary.

The images displayed capture candid moments, such as Senesh on horseback at Kfar Baruch, playing table tennis, and working with cows at the Nahalal Agricultural School.
