By Hugh Fitzgerald, Frontpage Magazine

Hamas has angrily rejected Trump’s proposal to move the Gazans out of the Strip, while what he accurately calls a “demolition site” full of rubble can be cleared away.

The Palestinian Authority, with slightly less venom, has done the same.

Trump had suggested that the Gazans could be resettled in both Egypt and Jordan, but both Egyptian General El-Sisi and King Abdullah of Jordan have also rejected the plan.

El-Sisi says that Egypt will not take in any Gazans, and Abdullah has agreed to take in 2,000 children. But what about the people of Gaza? Do they all reject the Trump plan? Are they determined to remain in Gaza?

An opinion poll taken in Gaza before the war broke out on October 7, 2023 provides a surprising look at what young Gazans, just starting their adult lives, think about leaving Gaza.

More on the results of that poll can be found here:

“Even before the war: 44% of young Gazans considered emigrating – opinion,” by Itamar Marcus, Jerusalem Post, February 10, 2025:

The question being asked today around the world is whether President Donald Trump’s plan to resettle Gazans in other countries can succeed. Judging by a poll taken just prior to the war, before much of Gaza was destroyed, Trump’s proposal is reasonable.

The poll by the top Palestinian polling agency, the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, found that a full 44% of Gazan youth between the ages of 18-29 were considering emigrating. Nearly a third (31%) of the entire population considered emigrating.

Gazans’ “most preferred destination for immigration is Turkey, followed by Germany, Canada, the United States, and Qatar,” the poll found.

We certainly don’t want more Muslims, especially not the Palestinians, settling in the Western countries, bringing in their mental baggage not only their animus toward all non-Muslims, but also a special hatred of Jews.

After all, these Gazans have been raised all their lives in what the Israelis call Hamastan, taught by members of the ruling terror group from an early age, in UNRWA schoolbooks and on Palestinian children’s television programs.

But both Turkey and Qatar, being Muslim countries in the region, make more sense as possible destinations for Palestinians wanting to leave Gaza.

Other possibilities should include the rich Arab states of the Gulf, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait, that could so easily pay for the building of new housing for the Gazans desiring resettlement.

The largest percentage said they want to leave for economic reasons; second and third reasons are “political” or educational opportunities. The fourth reason is security, and the fifth is corruption….

Do you blame them? Gaza is, as Trump has said, a demolition site,” where it’s impossible to conduct a normal life. 80% of Gazans in this age group are unemployed, with no prospect of things improving.

The only jobs that are available are menial in nature. Before October 7, 2023 19,000 Gazans would travel to Israel every day for work, at good wages; that employment stopped on that day and has not been renewed.

Before the war, 44% of young Gazans were considering leaving the Strip.

Now, after sixteen months of war, the entire Strip has been reduced to rubble, the result of Hamas’ practice of hiding its men and weapons in civilian structures, including apartments, offices, schools, mosques, and parts of hospitals, the percentage of those not just considering, but desperate to leave, must surely have skyrocketed.

Hamas does not care one whit about the desires, or the well-being, of the people in Gaza.

Just four leaders of Hamas — Moussa Abu Marzouk, Khaled Meshaal, the late Ismail Haniyeh, and the late Yahya Sinwar — have stolen a total of $14 billion in aid money.

The fewer the number of people remaining in Gaza, the less attention will be given to the Strip, and the less aid money will be provided.

The PA, which hopes to be put in charge of Gaza “the day after” the Israel-Hamas war ends with what the PA knows will be the complete destruction of Hamas, for the same reason doesn’t want the kind of drastic diminution in Gaza’s population that Trump’s plan envisions.

People leaving Gaza will face threats from Hamas, intent on forcing them to stay. How would Trump safeguard those who want to leave? He doesn’t want American boots on the ground, but by that he means American troops fighting wars.

What about setting up, with the IDF, offices along the Gaza-Israel border that would serve as intake centers for Gazans wanting to leave the Strip under the protection of the Israelis and Americans, safe from possible interference or retribution from Hamas?

Trump’s plan for resettling Gazans where their lives will be better has now been denounced by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, rejected by the heads of Egypt and Jordan, and dismissed by the 22 members of the Arab League not because his plan makes no sense, but because it does.

By Andrew Roberts, The Washington Free Beacon

Much of the international condemnation of Donald Trump’s “Riviera” plan for Gaza rests on the assumption that the Palestinians retain sovereignty over the territory, despite all the events that have taken place since their incursion into Israel on October 7, 2023, and that they also continue to have the right to choose their own government.

In fact, historical precedent suggests that Hamas’s invasion of southern Israel that day, and its condign punishment by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), have severe implications for whether the Gazans still have the right to decide their own destiny, and who governs them.

For again and again in the past, peoples who unleash unprovoked aggressive wars against their neighbors and are then defeated—as the Gazans have been on any conceivable metric—lose either their government or their sovereignty, or both. It would be strange were Hamas somehow to buck this historical trend.

When the two Boer republics of Southern Africa, the Transvaal and the Orange Free State, invaded the British colonies of Natal and Cape Colony in October 1899, a war broke out that two-and-a half-years later they had comprehensively lost.

By the peace treaty of Vereeniging in May 1902, both republics were annexed by the British and lost their sovereignty entirely, their government having already fled for Holland.

Konrad Henlein was the Nazi leader of the Sudeten Germans in Czechoslovakia 1938, who invited Adolf Hitler to invade the Czech state in March 1939.

He had much the same kind of willing-acolyte relationship with the Führer that Yahya Sinwar had with Iran.

When the Second World War was lost in May 1945, Henlein committed suicide and his people were moved out of the Sudetenland, some 800,000 to the Soviet zone and the rest to West Germany. The Sudetenland was then entirely repopulated with ethnic Czechs.

In all, more than three million Germans were forced to leave their homes in the Sudetenland, Silesia, and other lands east of the Oder and Neisse rivers, where their ancestors had lived for centuries, indeed for much longer than most Palestinian families have lived in Gaza.

They embarked on the 300-mile journey westwards under conditions of extreme deprivation, carrying only what they could carry. Once they reached Germany—whose new borders were drawn by the victorious Allies as they had lost all sovereignty—they settled and made the best of it.

Today, they and their descendants are among some of the most successful people in Germany, and however powerful modern Germany is, she makes no territorial claims on either Poland or the Czech Republic.

The Palestinians could learn a great lesson from the catastrophe that overcame the Sudeten Germans almost contemporaneously as the “Nakba” (catastrophe) that overcame them. Yet will they learn from it? Almost certainly not.

The decision of the Vichy government of France to fight against Britain in the Second World War, with bombing raids on Gibraltar and open warfare in Syria, so delegitimized it that when the liberation of France took place on D-Day in June 1944, it was swept aside and sovereignty was instead given to the Free French, who returned with the Allies.

The legitimately elected government of France under Marshal Petain was thus overthrown and replaced by the chosen government of the incoming conquering Allies.

Surprise attacks such as the one launched on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 naturally invite tough retribution, and in that particular case led directly to Japan losing her sovereignty under the overlordship of General Douglas MacArthur, whose word was law in Japan until 1952, a full seven years after the end of the war.

The authors of the attack, including the Japanese prime minister General Tojo, were hanged. This pattern of the death of the leadership and loss of sovereignty of the country were similarly the fates of both Hitler’s Germany and Mussolini’s Italy, with the Allies having ultimate power over the governance of both.

After North Korea launched its vicious unprovoked attack on South Korea in June 1950 it was punished so severely by the American-led United Nations force that it lost over a million dead.

(In those happier days, the United Nations supported countries that were invaded rather than the invaders.) North Korea lost territory in the armistice in 1953 and has been a pariah state ever since.

The percentage of North Koreans who died in that war was 16.5 percent.

The Gazan health ministry is an arm of Hamas propaganda and routinely lies about the statistics of killed and wounded there, but even if we take its numbers as accurate, the total number of Gazans killed in this war has been 2.04 percent, which is not a figure that in any way aligns with accusations of genocide.

If the IDF had wished to commit genocide, it would have killed far more than 2.04 percent of Gazans. By total contrast, Adolf Hitler killed over 50 percent of all of Europe’s Jews in what was a genuine genocide.

When the Argentinian military dictatorship suddenly invaded the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic in April 1982, and were utterly defeated 10 weeks later by Margaret Thatcher’s task force, the entire junta in Buenos Aires was deposed from power—some were jailed—and democracy returned to Argentina.

There are thus profound consequences for governments involved in launching unprovoked wars, and they cannot expect to stay in power when they have brought down death, destruction, and defeat upon their people.

Saddam Hussein’s surprise attack on Kuwait was a similar example of when a country invades its neighbor suddenly and without provocation, and after defeat in war loses both its government—Saddam was hanged—and its sovereignty while the U.S.-led coalition attempted to rebuild the country.

Such surprise attacks as Saddam’s, or indeed of Hamas’s on Israel on October 7, 2023, which was not intended to seize territory like Saddam but instead to kill and kidnap the largest possible number of Jews, are thus huge rollings of “the iron dice of war,” an all-or-nothing endeavor in which Saddam and Hamas cannot complain if they end in disaster.

In the collapsing former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, Serb leaders such as Slobodan Milosevic, General Ratko Mladic, and Radovan Karadzic took the cold-blooded decision to invade neighboring Bosnia and conduct an appalling program of what came to be known as “ethnic cleansing.”

Those critics of Donald Trump who tritely refer to the population transfers under his Gaza plan as ethnic cleansing ought to revisit what the phrase actually means in terms of horror, violence, and bloodshed.

Once NATO finally took to the air in Operation Deliberate Force to end the brutality, all three of those Serb leaders were imprisoned and Serbia’s borders were decided by the West rather than by the Serbs themselves.

The massacre of more than 8,000 Bosnians at the hands of the Serbs at Srebenica in July 1995 effectively ended Serbia’s right to sovereignty in its aftermath, and at the Dayton peace accords that December they had to accept the formation of two new republics.

The witness of history is therefore fairly uniform: If a government undertakes a vicious and unprovoked attack on a neighboring country, and subsequently loses on the battlefield, it cannot then expect to continue to exercise sovereignty and avoid population transfers.

In a similar vein, Arab governments cannot in the same breath argue that Gaza is “a concentration camp,” but also that its citizens should not be allowed to leave such a beloved homeland.

They can choose one propaganda line or the other, but not simultaneously both.

Mass population transfers have been common after wars.

The classic example are those of the late 1940s, when there were no fewer than 20 different groups—including the Sikhs, Muslims, and Hindus of the Punjab, the Crimean Tartars, the Japanese and Korean Kuril and Sakhalin Islanders, the Soviet Chechen, Ingush, and Balkars, even the Italians of Istria—who were moved to different regions.

At the time of the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, over 800,000 Jews from Arab lands were forced out of lands that they had lived in for centuries.

All of those peoples mentioned chose to try to make the best of their new environs except one, and most eventually succeeded.

The sole exception has been the Palestinians, because Hamas and its predecessors have always unquestioningly chosen the destruction of Israel and the opportunity to massacre Jews over the best interests of their own people.

If each of the 22 Arab states undertook to receive 100,000 Gazans, the Strip could be the home to the remaining 100,000, living and working on Trump’s “Riviera.”

The reason that can never in fact happen is the Arab states’ and the United Nations’ wholly cynical and self-interested policy since 1948 to use Palestinian refugees as a continual destabilizing force against Israel (as well as a well-grounded fear and hatred of easily the most violent population in Arabia).

As the international community yelps with indignation at Donald Trump’s remarks and their implications regarding Gazans’ sovereignty and Hamas’s right to govern there, history is on the president’s side.

By JNS

Israel has selected two potential exit points to allow Palestinians leave Gaza in accordance with U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent proposal to resettle the Strip’s population.

At a briefing on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces presented Defense Minister Israel Katz with a draft plan for safe passage, consisting of Ramon Airport, some 250 kilometers away from Gaza near Eilat, and Ashdod Port, about an hour’s drive up the Mediterranean coast from the Strip, according to an unnamed Israeli official cited in a report from Bloomberg on Friday.

As things stand, the source continued, the military is assessing which of the five land crossings between the Strip and Israel would serve as a safe passageway with security screening.

The idea of resettlement, suggested by Trump at a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House on Tuesday, received the backing of most Israelis, according to a Channel 12 News survey.

However, while 69% supported the plan, with 18% opposing it, only 36% believed it was practical, as Arab countries and some Western governments voiced their opposition to the idea.

Both Egypt and Jordan, named by Trump as potential destinations for the resettlement of Gazans, vehemently rejected the proposal.

In Israel, reports emerged that OC Military Intelligence Directorate Maj.-Gen. Shlomi Binder issued a warning about the proposal, warning that it could trigger violence in Judea and Samaria.

This propelled Katz to release a statement on Friday, saying, “There will be no reality in which IDF officers will speak out against U.S. President Trump’s important plan regarding Gaza, and against the directives of the political echelon.”

The Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) unit was put in charge of the planning, the report read.

During a meeting on Friday at the Oval Office with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Trump seemingly placed caveats on his proposal, saying there was “no rush” to implement it.

Trump said that his comments about Gaza being turned over from Israel to the U.S. as a “real estate transaction” have been “very well received,” and did not necessitate American soldiers being deployed to the Strip.

“We’re not talking about boots on the ground or anything, but I think the fact that we’re there, that we have an investment there, [will go] a long way to creating peace. We don’t want to see everybody move back and then leaving again in 10 years. We want to see stability and it would bring stability in the area,” the U.S. president said.

Voluntary departure

On Thursday, Katz said that he had instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to facilitate the voluntary departure of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

“The plan will include exit options at land crossings as well as special arrangements for exit by sea and air,” he said. “I welcome U.S. President Donald Trump’s bold plan. The residents of Gaza should be allowed to enjoy the freedom of exit and migration as is customary everywhere in the world.”

Katz went on to state that “countries like Spain, Ireland, Norway and others, which have made false allegations against Israel’s actions in Gaza, should by any account allow every Gazan resident to enter their territory. Their hypocrisy will be exposed if they refuse to do so. There are countries like Canada, which has a regulated immigration program, that have expressed a desire in the past to absorb residents from Gaza.”

Israel has been engaged in a devastating war in Gaza ever since Hamas carried out the single-day deadliest attack in Israel’s history on Oct. 7, 2023. The war has entered a ceasefire, hostages-terrorists exchange agreement phase over the past three weeks, as Washington seeks a permanent end to the conflict.

By Jewish Breaking News

U.S. President Donald Trump’s dramatic proposal for Gaza’s future has sparked a surge of support among some segments of Israeli society.

“The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too,” Trump declared as he stood alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday.

As for Gaza’s residents, he said they should be provided with “a good, fresh, beautiful piece of land” somewhere while rehabilitation takes place.

The immediate response was visible on Tel Aviv’s main freeway Wednesday morning, where commuters were greeted by giant billboards featuring American flags alongside Trump’s image, with a simple message in English: “Thank you, Mr. President,” JTA reports.

Social media quickly lit up with reactions, including digitally altered images showing luxury hotels rising from Gaza’s landscape. Some users shared mock tourism posters featuring “Trump International Gaza Beach Resort” while others created memes suggesting a “Real Two-State Solution: Israel and America.”

However, not all reactions have been positive.

“First the US couldn’t handle Afghanistan, now they want Gaza? This will be another Trump real estate flop,” wrote one influential Israeli X user.

“What’s next – a Trump golf course in Rafah?” wrote another. “Trump thinks he can turn Gaza into Atlantic City. Someone should remind him how that worked out?”

But behind the funny memes and hotel jokes, since the October 7 Hamas massacre which left 1,200 innocent people dead and 251 taken hostages.

Netanyahu has struggled to define what comes next after he achieves his war goals in Gaza.

Despite the seemingly outlandish nature of Trump’s proposal, for some, it at least offers a guarantee that that haunting nightmare will never happen again.

By Ailin Vilches Arguello, The Algemeiner

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday warned that the “hypocrisy” of Spain, Ireland, and other European countries hostile to the Jewish state will be exposed if they do not take in Palestinians who choose to leave Gaza, the war-torn enclave that US President Donald Trump has said he intends to rebuild after the population resettles elsewhere for a unknown period of time.

Katz called out several countries in Europe while announcing he had ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prepare a plan to allow Gaza residents who wish to leave to exit the enclave voluntarily.

“The people of Gaza should have the right to freedom of movement and migration, as is customary everywhere in the world,” Katz posted on X/Twitter.

“I welcome President Trump’s bold initiative, which can create extensive opportunities for those in Gaza who wish to leave, assist them in resettling in host countries, and support long-term reconstruction efforts in a demilitarized, threat-free Gaza after Hamas — an effort that will take many years.”

He said his plan would include exit options via land crossings, as well as special arrangements for departure by sea and air, noting that the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, which controlled Gaza before the current war and remains the strongest faction there absent the Israeli army, has used residents as “human shields” and and now “holds them hostage.”

Katz’s order came two days after Trump said that the US would take over Gaza and develop it economically after Palestinians are safely resettled elsewhere.

Global reaction to Trump’s plan was largely negative, with many countries expressing both incredulity and indignation.

Spain, for example, said that Palestinians must stay in Gaza.

“I want to be very clear on this: Gaza is the land of Gazan Palestinians and they must stay in Gaza,” Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares told reporters on Wednesday.

“Gaza is part of the future Palestinian state Spain supports and has to coexist guaranteeing the Israeli state’s prosperity and safety.”

Katz took issue with countries that have been vocal critics of Israel and portrayed themselves as staunch defenders of the Palestinians taking such a stance.

“Countries such as Spain, Ireland, Norway, and others, which have falsely accused Israel over its actions in Gaza, are legally obligated to allow Gazans to enter their territory,” Katz said in his social media post.

“Their hypocrisy will be exposed if they refuse. Meanwhile, countries like Canada, which has a structured immigration program, have previously expressed willingness to take in residents from Gaza.”

Albares rejected Katz’s suggestion that Spain should accept displaced Palestinians.

“Gazans’ land is Gaza and Gaza must be part of the future Palestinian state,” Albares said in an interview with Spanish radio station RNE.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Irish Foreign Ministry told the Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency on Thursday that Katz’s post was “unhelpful and a source of distraction,” adding, “The objective must be that the people of Palestine return safely to their home.”

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said during a press conference on Wednesday that Gaza under Hamas rule has been a “failed experiment, adding, “As long as immigration is voluntary and there is a country willing to accept them, can anyone really say it’s immoral or inhumane?”

Since Hamas started the Gaza war with its invasion of and massacre across southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, both Spain and Ireland have been fierce critics of the Jewish state.

In the aftermath of the Oct. 7 atrocities, Spain launched a diplomatic campaign to curb Israel’s military response. At the same time, several Spanish ministers in the country’s left-wing coalition government issued pro-Hamas statements and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, with some falsely accusing Israel of “genocide.”

More recently, Spanish officials said they would not allow ships carrying arms for Israel to stop at its ports. The US Federal Maritime Commission recently opened an investigation into whether Spain, a NATO ally, has been denying port entry to cargo vessels reportedly transporting US weapons to Israel.

Spain stopped its own defense companies from shipping arms to Israel in October 2023.

One year later, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged other members of the EU to suspend the bloc’s free trade agreement with Israel over its military campaigns against Hamas in Gaza and the terrorist organization Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Sanchez’s demand came three days after the Spanish premier urged other countries to stop supplying weapons to the Jewish state.

In Ireland, meanwhile, President Michael D. Higgins used his platform speaking at a Holocaust commemoration last month to launch a tirade against Israel’s military campaign targeting Hamas terrorists, appearing to draw parallels between Israel’s war in Gaza and the Nazi genocide of Jews during the Holocaust.

The speech came against a backdrop of strained Irish-Israeli relations, exacerbated by Ireland’s decision to join South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and its support for redefining genocide in order to secure a conviction against Jerusalem.

In December, Israel announced it was shuttering its embassy in Dublin, accusing the Irish government of undermining Israel at international forums and promoting “extreme anti-Israel policies.”

Last month, Israel announced it was shuttering its embassy in Dublin, accusing the Irish government of undermining Israel at international forums and promoting “extreme anti-Israel policies.”

In October, Irish leaders called on the EU to “review its trade relations” with Israel after the Israeli parliament passed legislation banning the activities in the country of UNRWA, the United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees, because of its ties to Hamas.

Spain and Ireland, along with Norway, officially recognized a Palestinian state in May, claiming the move was accelerated by the Israel-Hamas war and would help foster a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israeli officials described the decision as a “reward for terrorism.”

By Daniel Greenfield, Frontpage Magazine

President Trump’s proposal that the Arab Muslim colonist population occupying parts of Gaza be resettled touched off outrage, complaints about ‘ethnic cleansing’ and ‘genocide’.

Those same complaints were entirely absent when Gaza’s Jewish population was forcibly resettled not once but twice, first during the War of Independence when Egypt invaded and seized control of Gaza (setting the stage for contemporary events as the Egyptian government partnered with the Muslim Brotherhood, which later became Hamas, to stage attacks from Gaza into Israel.)

And then by the Israeli government during its withdrawal from Gaza which turned over the territory to the Arab Muslim population in the hopes of peace.

Instead, the Arab Muslims selected Hamas and spent the succeeding years waging an endless war.

Politicians and the media approved of the ethnic cleansing of Jewish communities from Gaza.

Here’s how the AP cheerfully covered a synagogue burning by Hamas supporters.

“Fireworks lit up the sky, Palestinian gunmen fired in the air in celebration and crowds set fire to the synagogue in the abandoned Morag settlement, closest to Palestinian towns. In another synagogue, gunmen climbed on the roof and waved flags of militant groups, including Hamas, shouting “Allah is great.”

“It is only the first step to more liberation … tomorrow we liberate all of Palestine,” Gaza resident Mohammed Khamish Habboush shouted into a mosque loudspeaker.

Early Monday, Palestinians started carrying off what was left in the debris in the settlements, including chairs, tables and shopping carts. In the former settlement of Netzarim, women ululated in celebration. Young men tore down electricity poles, grabbing the wires, and several people carried off window frames.”

The London Times lyrically described the scene as “Thousands of Palestinians swarmed into the forsaken settlements and youths set fire to synagogues and other symbols of the hated occupation.”

The same media that thought the forcible ‘resettlement’ of Jews from Gaza was fine can shut up about proposals to resettle Arab Muslims.

The media and politicians don’t oppose resettlement and ethnic cleansing. They proved that already. They simply oppose applying it to Hamas supporters occupying Gaza.

Politicians and the media don’t oppose forcible resettlement. They just support Islamic terrorism.

By Aharon Unger

GazaPassage, an organization started by American lawyers trying to help Gazans either leave Gaza or go back up to the north of Gaza, announced todat that Israel’s Security Cabinet is reviewing their demand for security resources.

“On May 15 both the Ministry of National Security and the ICT Authority confirmed receipt. Reports from within Israel note at least one other minister has seen the letter.

Separately, GazaPassage has learned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reviewed the letter.”

The signatories include international war correspondent Coach Weinhaus and Palestinian American Abir ElZowidi.

ElZowidi is a major Palestinian activist.

Other Palestinian American groups have signed the letter, including the USA Palestine Mental Health Network and American Friends of Oasis of Peace.

As the announcement, states, the right in Israel opposes the plan:

“Critics in Israel have attacked GazaPassage and its American legal team for intentionally diverting security resources from the war effort and distracting the world from the hostages in Gaza.”

It is a trap. This is the kind of plan Israel’s enemies want. GazaPassage is actively working to get Gazans to return to the north as it says in its own announcement in December.

Israel’s Security Cabinet should focus on the war and not add even more turmoil to the ‘day after’ debate that is threatening to bring down the government.
