By JNS

An explosive drone launched by Hezbollah terrorists hit the Rosh Hanikra area, near the Lebanon border in the Western Galilee, on Thursday, wounding three civilians, one critically.

Dr. Tzvi Sheleg, deputy director of Galilee Medical Center, confirmed that three casualties were evacuated to the Nahariya hospital.

“One is in critical condition, suffering from shrapnel injuries and very severe internal trauma.” Sheleg said in a video statement, adding that the victim was rushed to the operating room.

A second casualty was moderately wounded by shrapnel and was undergoing scans, he said. A third person sustained light injuries.

Sheleg said the injuries appeared to have been caused by an explosion and included blast and shrapnel wounds.

Separately in the Eastern Galilee, the Israeli military said in an initial statement that it fired an interceptor at a suspected aerial target from Lebanon near Kibbutz Misgav Am in the Galilee Panhandle, with the outcome under review, while another alert in the nearby Mevo’ot Hermon region ended without injuries.

Overnight, the IDF said it intercepted another aerial target in Southern Lebanon without activating air-raid sirens and reported additional Hezbollah fire, including an anti-tank missile and mortar shells, that struck near Israeli troops operating there without causing casualties.

The attacks by the Iranian-backed terrorist group violate “ceasefire understandings,” the IDF stressed.

The statements followed Israeli strikes Wednesday on Hezbollah weapons depots, launchers, and infrastructure in Southern Lebanon, which the IDF said were used to plan attacks on Israeli forces and territory.

The army added that troops from its 91st “Galilee” Division continue ground operations in Southern Lebanon aimed at dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure, reporting that since the start of the operation, more than 400 terrorists have been eliminated and over 1,000 weapons seized.

“Soldiers from the Shahaf Unit identified and eliminated more than 120 terrorists through precise, rapid operations and dismantled dozens of terror infrastructures, including Hezbollah terror headquarters,” the IDF said.

The 869th “Shahaf/Seagull” Field Intelligence Battalion is part of the 91st Division.

The Israel-Lebanon ceasefire went into effect on April 16 under a U.S.-brokered truce aimed at halting the renewed fighting that erupted in March 2026.

The ceasefire has been shaky as the IDF responds to continued Hezbollah attacks amid ongoing U.S.-mediated talks between Israel and Lebanon.

By David Hellerman, World Israel News

Hezbollah is now demanding that Israel “return” to Lebanon a Rosh HaNikra railway tunnel that has been closed since 1948.

“Our sovereign rights lie in our decision to restore every inch of the occupied tunnel, without compromising our decision to restore our land and sea borders as well,” said Ali Hamieh, the Hezbollah-allied caretaker Minister of Public Works on Monday.

The 695-meter-long Rosh HaNikra Tunnel was dug by the British army between 1942-1944 as part of Haifa-Beirut-Tripoli line to speed up military traffic during World War II.

Lebanon calls it the Naqoura Tunnel after a nearby Lebanese town.

In February 1948, the Palmach blew up a nearby rail bridge to prevent Arab weapons shipments from Lebanon. Rebuilding the bridge was considered too expensive and irrelevant in the absence of peace with Lebanon, so Israel filled the tunnel with concrete.

Hamieh associated the tunnel with Shebaa Farms, the Kfarshuba Hills and part of Israel’s offshore gas fields, according to Asharq al-Awsat, a London-based Arab daily.

Hezbollah’s demand for the tunnel is viewed as an attempt to scuttle efforts to resolve the maritime border.

The U.S. has been mediating talks to resolve the maritime border. Lebanon recently softened its demands on the Karish gas field, which lies in Israeli waters.

However, Hezbollah sent a number of aerial drones towards that gas field in July in what appeared to be a show of force. The IDF downed the drones.

By Lauren Marcus, World Israel News

With a flaming red beard that earned him the nickname “Ginger” and a larger-than-life personality, Roei Sadan was a well-known figure in the cycling world, both in Israel and abroad.

After finishing his army service, Sadan made headlines in 2011 for his cycling journey around the world, during which he biked more than 66,000 kilometers and passed through 42 countries, visiting every continent but Antarctica.

But after a tragic accident last week, Sadan is in the news once again — this time, for saving the lives of seven Israelis via organ donation.

While riding his bike last Thursday near his home at Kibbutz Rosh HaNikra, the 39-year-old was hit by a bus. At Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, his condition deteriorated and he passed away on Friday.

Sadan’s close friend Gil Yehezkel explained that the cyclist had adopted a new training routine meant to simulate climbing Mount Everest.

“There is [a steep] ascent from the Rosh HaNikra cliff upwards, an… ascent that even IDF jeeps have a hard time doing. [Sadan] would do this ascent 21 times, and that was his daily workout,” Yehezkel told Ynet.

“When he was on his way back – and we still do not know exactly how it happened – he was hit by the bus. He received one blow and flew up to the bus windshield, and from there he was thrown forward on the road, falling on his head.”

Because Sadan was a registered organ donor, his death meant a new chance at life for seven Israelis with chronic illnesses and organ failure.

Sadan had a previous brush with death in August 2015, when he fell some 500 meters while rock-climbing in the Himalayas. He was seriously injured and underwent emergency surgery at a local medical center, then spent 2 months in a coma in Israel’s Tel HaShomer Hospital.

Sadan made a miraculous recovery, completing intense physical therapy and learning to ride a bike again just a year after the accident.

The accident put a damper on his wanderlust, and he decided to settle down at Kibbutz Rosh HaNikra near the Lebanese border, to the relief of his mother.

“In all the years that Roie traveled the world on a bike, anxiety has been an integral part of me,” Rachel Sadan told Ynet. “Every ring from an unknown number made me jump and I was scared by every knock on the door.”

“Since Roie returned to Israel, I have calmed down,” she said. “I knew he was here, recovering, hiking, giving lectures and drinking life with pleasure.

“I was sure that within the borders of Israel, he is not exposed to danger,” she said.
