By World Israel News Staff

A conservative American Jewish group said Monday it is planning to cut ties with the Heritage Foundation unless the right-wing think tank distances itself from podcaster Tucker Carlson.

In a pair of statements issued by the Zionist Organization of America, the Republican-leaning group condemned Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts’ recent comments on his organization’s relationship with Carlson and defense of Carlson from accusations of antisemitism.

The ZOA called Roberts’ comments a “disgraceful defense, whitewashing of and alliance with Tucker Carlson, following Carlson’s string of libels…and fawning interviews with notorious neo-Nazis, Holocaust deniers, Israel defamers and Jew-haters whom he did not push back on.”

Last Thursday, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts released a video statement in support of Carlson and to reject criticism of the popular podcaster over his decision to host white supremacist online influencer Nick Fuentes last week.

During the interview, Carlson denounced Christian supporters of Israel as heretics suffering from a “mind virus,” while Fuentes lamented the “challenge” Christians face in the US from “organized Jewry.”

While Roberts condemned Fuentes, he failed to criticize Carlson and condemned what he called a “venomous” coalition of opposition to Carlson seeking to “sow division” on the right.

Carlson’s comments, and Roberts’ defense of the right-wing podcaster, drew criticism from Republican lawmakers and prominent figures within the conservative movement, including senior members of the Heritage Foundation.

This week, Rabbi Mark Goldfeder quit Heritage’s antisemitism task force, dubbed the Esther Project, in protest of Roberts’ remarks.

On Monday, the ZOA threatened to follow suit, demanding Roberts condemn Carlson, apologize for his remarks last Thursday and formally end Heritage’s relationship with Carlson.

“Tucker Carlson has just interviewed and mainstreamed Nick Fuentes and nodded along while Fuentes spouted his disgusting, Jew-hating, mindless, racist and misogynist views,” ZOA President Morton A. Klein said.

“Fuentes has called for the death of Jews; praises mass-murderer Hitler as ‘awesome’ and ‘f—ing cool’; is a ‘fan’ and ‘always admirer’ of mass-murderer Stalin; attacked Charlie Kirk for Kirk’s pro-Israel views; calls for expelling pro-Israel ‘types’ such as Lindsey Graham and Jews such as Randy Fine from the Republican Party; calls American Jewish conservatives such as Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro and Josh Hammer ‘filth’ and ‘foreign operatives.”

Fuentes, Klein continued, “called for a ‘holy war’ against Jews; denies the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust ‘as not adding up’ and belittles it as Cookie Monster ‘cookies baking in the oven.’”

Instead, far too many still refuse to see the truth, says prominent radio host.

By Linda Argalgi Sadacka, Exclusive to World Israel News

In a no-holds-barred conversation, legendary radio host Sid Rosenberg rips into the explosion of antisemitism, the failures of Jewish leadership, and the urgent need for Jews to take control of their own destiny.

Known for his unapologetic, brass-knuckled honesty, Rosenberg isn’t here to play nice. He’s here to tell the truth: Jewish survival has never been about playing defense—it’s about fighting back. And if we don’t, we will lose everything.

Jewish survival is a battle—not a birthright

Jewish history isn’t defined by victimhood—it’s defined by resilience. But Rosenberg sees today’s Jewish leadership as weak and ineffective.

“When I was a kid, the JDL was tough. The ADL was tough. Neither of them is as tough as they used to be,” he says bluntly.

The lesson of Jewish survival is simple: strength is the only deterrent. Yet today, too many Jews are afraid to stand up for themselves—especially those who still blindly support a party that openly harbors antisemites.

“Democrat Jews seem okay with people stepping all over them. There’s no other explanation for why they keep voting for a party that coddles Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and AOC.”

This isn’t about political preference—it’s about self-preservation. And right now, Jewish leadership is asleep at the wheel.

Sid Rosenberg and author Linda Sadacka at Bedminster for a Trump Jewish Leader’s event. (Courtesy)

Antisemitism is institutionalized—and Jews are in denial

Jew-hatred isn’t just lingering in the shadows. It’s embedded in the very institutions shaping the country.

“We see it every day at Columbia, NYU, and in Congress—Tlaib, Omar, AOC. Even Jews like Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders do a terrible job representing us,” Rosenberg states.

The media only adds fuel to the fire.

“CNN spends all day crying about Palestinian ‘victims’ while barely acknowledging what happened to Jewish women and babies on October 7. It’s pure propaganda.”

The greatest mistake Jewish leaders are making? Failing to recognize that antisemitism isn’t just random hate—it’s a systemic problem.

“This isn’t a fringe issue—it’s institutional,” he warns. “And it’s time we fight it like one.”

October 7th: The wake-up call that never came

The Hamas-led massacre on October 7 should have been a moment of reckoning for Jews worldwide. Instead, far too many still refuse to see the truth.

“The reason October 7 happened is simple: Iran,” Rosenberg says. “They bankroll Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. They couldn’t do it when Trump was in office because Iran was broke. The moment Biden took over, Iran was back in business.”

And yet, inexplicably, Jews continue to vote for leaders who fund their executioners.

“More than 50 percent, more than 60 percent of Jews still support these policies. Was October 7 a wake-up call? Maybe for me—I became more religious, more outspoken. But for too many? They’re still asleep.”

The Jewish community must stop being afraid

Fear has paralyzed Jews into submission. And according to Rosenberg, that’s why attacks keep happening.

“If some thug rips a yarmulke off a kid’s head, and that kid beats the hell out of him, maybe he won’t do it again. But we don’t do that. The Jewish response has been to walk away, dejected, scared. And that’s why it keeps happening.”

This isn’t about promoting violence—it’s about ensuring that threats against Jews are met with swift, unshakable resistance.

“Those who seek to harm Jews should know there will be a cost,” Rosenberg says.

When enemies of the Jewish people see no consequences for their actions, when there is no pushback, no price to pay, it emboldens them. A response isn’t just necessary—it’s survival.

The WZO elections: The fight for Jewish power

While most people see elections through a political lens, Rosenberg views them as a battle for Jewish survival.

“This election isn’t some symbolic nonsense,” he says. “This determines how Jewish money is spent, who gets to represent us, and whether Israel will be strong or weak.”

Donald Trump is awarded the Theodor Herzl Gold Medallion at the Zionist Organization of America’s 125th anniversary Gala in New York City, Nov. 13, 2022. (ZOA)

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) World Likud is running as Slate 15 in the upcoming World Zionist Congress (WZC) elections, which will take place online from March 10 to May 4, 2025. These elections will determine how over $1 billion is allocated annually toward Jewish and Israeli causes.

And the ZOA isn’t just about Jewish power—it stands by Torah values, the anchor that has kept the Jewish people rooted, protected, and unwavering throughout history.

For thousands of years, it has never been politics, diplomacy, or compromise that ensured Jewish survival—it was faith, identity, and unbreakable Jewish strength.

In an age where Jewish voices are under attack, where so-called leaders bend to every social pressure, ZOA stands firm: Israel is the eternal homeland of the Jewish people, and Jewish destiny will not be dictated by outsiders.

Yet, this year, a new threat has emerged: a slate of brand-new groups with zero track record, no proof they can fight, and no experience in standing up for Jewish rights.

“These new slates popped up overnight. No history, no credibility. And we’re supposed to entrust them with the future of Jewish power?” Rosenberg asks.

This is not the time for experiments. This is a fight for the Jewish future, and it must be waged by those who have proven their strength.

How Sid got into the fight: ‘Linda, you were relentless’

Rosenberg wasn’t planning to join this battle—he was dragged into it by people who refused to take no for an answer.

“Linda, you were relentless,” he laughs. “You sent Elizabeth Pipko, Elisheva Chase, and others after me. You made the calls. But in the end, it was Siggy Flicker—my good friend—who sealed the deal. And I’m damn glad she did, because ZOA is the real deal.”

For Rosenberg, this isn’t about just another election—it’s about who actually fights for Jewish power.

“A lot of groups just talk—they hold rallies, tweet, and put out statements. But what does that actually accomplish? Nothing.”

“ZOA fights where it matters—in Congress, in court, on the front lines for Israel and the Jewish people.”

Real fighters vs. social media celebrities

Rosenberg has no patience for performative activism.

“There are people out there making a fortune off this since October 7. They love the photo ops. They have millions of followers. But the real fighters? They’re not the ones tweeting—they’re the ones actually in the trenches.”

Ava Rosenberg with her father Sid Rosenberg, a prominent national radio show host. (Courtesy)

For him, the ultimate example of Jewish courage isn’t an influencer—it’s his own daughter, Ava.

“What impresses me? Not influencers lighting menorahs with Van Jones for $50,000 a pop. It’s my daughter, Ava. She’s on a college campus, putting her life on the line for the Jewish people when it’s dangerous, when it’s damn near deadly. That’s leadership.”

Final message: Fight or be erased

Jewish history does not reward weakness. It rewards strength, defiance, and the courage to fight back.

We are not guests in this world. We are not here to beg for approval, apologize for our existence, or tiptoe around the sensibilities of those who hate us.

The Torah is our anchor. It is the foundation that has carried us through every exile, every war, every attempt to erase us. It commands us to be strong, to fight for our people, and to never surrender our destiny to others.

The battle lines have been drawn. The enemy is emboldened. Jewish survival has never been guaranteed—it has always been earned.

So stand up. Speak out. Vote. Fight back.

Because if we don’t fight for ourselves, no one else will.

By World Israel News Staff

American Jewish groups sparred over the upcoming Senate confirmation vote for President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, pitting Orthodox Jewish rabbis and conservative pro-Israel activists against the Reform Judaism movement.

Shortly after his election victory last November, Trump announced that he would be nominating former Arkansas governor and 2008 Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee to replace the current ambassador to Israel, Biden-appointee Jack Lew.

The announcement drew praise from the conservative Republican base and Evangelical Christian leaders, who noted Huckabee’s long ties to Evangelical Christian Zionism.

Last Friday, however, the Reform Judaism movement expressed concern over Huckabee’s nomination.

In a letter penned to all 100 U.S. senators, Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner, director of the Reform movement’s outreach arm – the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism – urged lawmakers to reconsider voting to confirm Huckabee as ambassador.

Pesner cited Huckabee’s Evangelical Christian beliefs – Huckabee is an ordained Southern Baptist pastor – and noted that many Evangelical Christian Zionists have linked their support of the Jewish state to “the belief that Jewish sovereignty over the biblical land of Israel will hasten the return of Jesus Christ,” Pesner wrote.

“We are gravely concerned by a teaching in which the well-being of Jews, of Israel, and of America are not ends in themselves but means to the fulfillment of Christian eschatology.”

In addition, Pesner lamented Huckabee’s opposition to Palestinian statehood, citing his 2008 affirmation that “there is really no such thing as a Palestinian.”

“In 2017, Gov. Huckabee denied the reality of Israel’s decades-long occupation of the West Bank. In an interview with Israeli radio that took place after his recent nomination, Gov. Huckabee welcomed the possibility of broader Israeli annexation of the West Bank. Each of these views runs counter to U.S. interests in advancing the causes of peace and regional security,” Pesner warned.

On Monday, however, the Zionist Organization of America fired back, castigating Pesner’s letter to senators and defending Huckabee’s nomination.

“It is difficult to fathom how anyone who calls himself a Jewish Zionist could oppose Gov. Huckabee’s confirmation,” ZOA President Morton Klein wrote in an open letter to the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“We were thus appalled by Reform Religious Action Center director Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner’s February 21 letter criticizing Gov. Huckabee.”

Klein defended Huckabee’s rejection of Palestinian statehood and support for Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, while savaging the Reform movement’s broad criticism of Christian Zionism.

“It is also mortifying that Pesner’s letter maligned the tens of millions of evangelicals and Christian Zionists in the United States.”

According to Klein, “Pesner’s letter would establish a dangerous religious test for public office.”

Also on Monday, the Rabbinical Alliance of America, representing over 950 Orthodox rabbis across North America, issued a statement defending Huckabee’s nomination and calling on the Senate to confirm the former governor.

“Huckabee’s confirmation would reflect the enduring commitment of the United States to its closest ally in the Middle East,” RAA Executive Vice President Rabbi Mendy Mirocznik wrote.

By World Israel News Staff

The Biden administration is under fire, with a pro-Israel organization accusing the president of fueling antisemitism against American Jews.

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden made his sharpest rebuke yet of Israel’s handling of the ongoing war against Hamas, accusing the Jewish state of “indiscriminate bombing” of Gazans, and demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu do more to prevent collateral damage.

A day later, White House spokesman John Kirby clarified that the administration recognizes that Israel has gone out of its way to minimize civilian casualties.

“That’s basically telegraphing your punches,” Kirby said of Israel warnings to civilians. “There are very few modern militaries in the world that would do that. I don’t know that we would do that.”

Despite Kirby’s comments, however, on Thursday the Zionist Organization of America castigate Biden for his remarks Tuesday, accusing him of fueling antisemitism in the U.S.

In a statement by ZOA National President Morton A. Klein, the group said it “strongly condemns President Joe Biden’s dangerous, indiscriminate remarks on December 12th, falsely accusing Israel of ‘indiscriminate bombing’ in Gaza.”

The ZOA also blasted the Biden administration’s calls during the Hamas war for Israel to commit itself to the establishment of a Palestinian state, as well as the White House’s call to hand over control of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority after the war.

“[C]riticizing and calling for changing Israel’s democratically elected government; and calling for Israel to ‘strengthen’ and reward the Palestinian Authority (PA) terror regime with a Palestinian Arab state carved out of Israel’s lawful land (a so-called ‘two-state solution’) – while the PA is celebrating the October 7th atrocities, continuing to pay terrorists huge lifetime pensions to murder Jews and insisting that Hamas must be part of a Palestinian state ; and the PA’s ruling Fatah party is bragging about its brigades participating in the October 7th atrocities.”

“Falsely accusing Israel of ‘indiscriminate bombing’ creates more fuel for attacking American Jews. Biden’s widely disseminated, reckless remarks will likely inspire more antisemitism, at a time when American Jews are being attacked on college campuses and American streets at record breaking levels.”

“Even his spokesman John Kirby said no country, including America, does more to protect civilian lives.”

“Biden voiced his unjustified criticisms of Israel and his statements interfering with and attempting to undermine Israeli democracy at a closed-door campaign reception on December 12, 2023.”

“Biden’s remarks were then published on the White House website and amplified in media around the world.”

By Bradley Martin, JNS

As the Sept. 30 deadline looms for Israel to either gain entry into the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, which it has sought for more than a decade or have to restart its application, questions loom about whether Washington’s entry requirements would create security risks for Israel.

A sticking point has been that Foggy Bottom would require Israel to treat all U.S. citizens equally—meaning Israeli border and other police could not subject U.S. citizens with ties to Palestinian-controlled areas to any extra screening.

“We have made clear, both publicly and privately, that the Visa Waiver Program needs to apply to all American citizens in Israel, whether they be in the West—and that includes whether they be in the West Bank or whether they be in Gaza,” said Matthew Miller, the U.S. State Department spokesman, during a press briefing on Aug. 1.

“We understand that there can be different procedures for Americans in the West Bank because of the different security situation there,” he added. “But we have made clear that the program needs to apply for Americans there as well and to the extent Israel needs to make changes to how they’re implementing the program now, that is something that we fully expect them to do.”

Morton Klein, national president of the Zionist Organization of America, told JNS that any visa-free travel agreement between Israel and the United States must not compromise Israeli security.

“Israel has unique security needs,” he said. “Over 70% of Palestinian Arabs support terrorism against Jews and seek to destroy the Jewish state. Israel must thoroughly investigate whether Palestinian Americans who travel through its borders are part of a terrorist group or the BDS movement.”

If Palestinian Arabs cross Israeli borders, then they must be “thoroughly screened,” according to Klein.

The Visa Waiver Program allows most citizens of the 40 participating countries to travel to the United States for up to 90 days without a visa.

Representatives of several American Jewish organizations did not express concern that the U.S. requirements will jeopardize Israeli security.

Marshall Wittmann, spokesman for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, told JNS that Israeli entry into the program “will only deepen the U.S.-Israel relationship to the mutual benefit of both countries.” Asked if AIPAC had any security or other concerns about the inclusion of Palestinian Americans in the program, Wittmann told JNS he had nothing further to add.

Rabbi Eric Fusfield, director of legislative affairs at B’nai B’rith International, told JNS that Israel’s inclusion into the program was vital to the U.S.-Israel relationship and would benefit both countries greatly.

“The two governments have been cooperating closely to reach a solution that will take into account both Israel’s crucial security concerns and the ability of visitors who meet qualifications to enter Israel,” he said. “We look forward to seeing them reach a successful conclusion.”

Jason Isaacson, chief policy officer at the American Jewish Committee, told JNS that an agreement between Jerusalem and Washington, which has led to a trial period leading up to the program, is cause for celebration for pro-Israel Americans.

“It is our hope that Israel will be admitted. It is good for the Israeli people, and it will strengthen the U.S.-Israel alliance,” he said.

Isaacson is confident that Israel will be able to screen any potential security threats upon entry to the Jewish state, irrespective of Visa Waiver Program requirements.

“I have full confidence in the ability of Israeli authorities to vet all U.S. passport holders,” he said. “There is close consultation between U.S. and Israeli security authorities currently taking place, and Israel has been establishing procedures to maintain the high standards needed to join the Visa Waiver program while also overcoming any potential security challenges.”

By World Israel News Staff

Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) President Morton A. Klein and ZOA Director of Research and Special Projects Liz Berney, Esq. slammed the far-left Americans for Peace Now (APN) this week, saying the “far-left BDS-promoter…reached a new low by presenting a webinar – titled “Israel’s Violations of Palestinian Rights” – featuring UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese.

At the outset of the APN webinar, ZOA said in a press release, Albanese complained that she and other UN Special rapporteurs have been “personally attacked.”

Albanese claimed that she was vilified simply for “Jewish lobby” comments she made 10 years ago.

“That’s quite an understatement of Albanese’s hideous record,” ZOA said. “Bipartisan Congressmembers wrote two group letters calling on the UN to remove Albanese from her position, due to Albanese’s vicious anti-Israel bias and refusals to condemn deadly Palestinian Arab terror attacks against innocent Israelis.”

As noted by ZOA, “Albanese’s long, sordid history of antisemitic remarks also includes:

– likening Israel to Nazis;

– saying that America is “subjugated by the Jewish lobby”;

– legitimizing Hamas rocket attacks on innocent Israeli civilians as Hamas “defend[ing] themselves with the only means they have”;

– accusing BBC [not exactly a pro-Israel outlet] of having the “Jewish lobby in your veins” and thus being on “big brother’s side of this Orwellian [sic] nightmare caused once again by Israel’s greed”;

– likening the Holocaust with the “Nakba” (the Palestinian word meaning that it is a “catastrophe” that the Arabs did not destroy Israel in 1948);

– joyfully celebrating the EU General Court taking Hamas off of its terror blacklist;

– repeatedly denying Israel’s right to self-defense and justifying Palestinian terrorism, saying in various for a that: “Israel cannot claim self-defense while illegally occupying and while directing an act of aggression against another country. Those who have the right to self-defense are the Palestinians.”, and “An occupation clearly necessitates and generates violence.”, and “The occupier cannot say he is defending himself.”

Albanese also previously worked for Hamas-allied UNRWA.

“Albanese has no first-hand knowledge, and ignores reality and truthful sources. Instead, Albanese’s recent UN report and APN webinar repeatedly cited and regurgitated the falsehoods promoted by foreign-funded anti-Israel organizations that specialize in systematically libeling Israel, including: B’tselem; Breaking the Silence; Amnesty International; HRW; Al-Haq and Addameer.

“The latter two are affiliates of designated terror organization PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine): In 2021, the Israeli government designated Al-Haq and Addameer as terror organizations operating on behalf of the PFLP.”

According to ZOA, “during the APN webinar this week, Albanese touted her latest libelous UN report; minimized Palestinian Arab terrorism; falsely claimed that Israel has a ‘shoot-to-kill policy’; falsely accused Israel of torturing children, targeting school children going to school and farmers working their land; falsely accused Israel of killing leading intellectuals and teachers; and absurdly claimed that Israeli security measures, e.g., checkpoints, the security fence and cameras have created a ‘carceral continuum’ that is like incarceration and keeps Palestinian Arabs from ‘growing.’ [This is of course belied by the Palestinian Arabs’ 80,000 illegal structures in Area C, the area that is legally under full Israeli administrative and security control.]

“Albanese also bizarrely blamed Israel for the Palestinian Authority’s abuses against and arrests of its own people, saying that ‘the PA operates as sort of an extension of Israeli authority.’”

During the APN webinar, ZOA continues, “Albanese also repeated the ridiculous calumny that it is a ‘war crime’ under Article 49 of Geneva Convention for Jews to move into and resettle the Jewish homelands of Judea/Samaria and eastern Jerusalem, including the Jewish Quarter,” all of which Albanese referred to as Occupied Palestinian Territory.

As ZOA has repeatedly explained, Article 49 is inapplicable to Jews living in Judea/Samaria, etc. for multiple reasons, including:

– Article 49 concerns forcible transfers, and was intended to stop horrors such as the Nazis’ forcible transfers of Jews to concentration camps; it is absurd and wrong to apply it to Jews voluntarily moving to and resettling the Jewish homeland;

– Article 49 only applies to signatory nations (Israel never signed; and the PA is not a nation or a signatory); and

– Article 49 only concerns occupation of another sovereign nation’s territory. Judea/Samaria and Jerusalem are not sovereign territory of the Palestinian Arabs; rather, Israel has the legal right to Judea/Samaria and Jerusalem, and is not occupying another sovereign nation’s territory.

‘Caught on videotape’

Albanese provided no actual examples to support her defamatory allegation that Israel mistreats Palestinian Arab children, ZOA pointed out.

“Albanese’s UN report gave only one supposed example of this. Notably, that sole example ignored that the imprisoned Palestinian Arab ‘child,’ Ahmad Manasra, was a terrorist who, along with his cousin, stabbed with huge knives and seriously wounding a Jewish child riding a bicycle and a young Jewish adult in Jerusalem.

“This was caught on videotape. Mansara was convicted of two attempted murders and sentenced to 12 years in prison, which the Israeli Supreme Court reduced to 9.5 years following consideration of ‘his young age and the rehabilitation process he is participating in.’

“Yet, instead of showing even the slightest sympathy for Mansara’s badly injured Jewish victims, or appreciating the undeserved mercy shown to Mansara, Albanese’s UN report called Mansara’s terror attack a mere ‘allegation’ and bemoaned that ‘the haunting case of Ahmad Manasra exemplifies [Israel’s] harrowing practices”

In her UN report, Albanese called for Israel to be criminally prosecuted for international crimes; for international “diplomatic, political and economic measures” to be taken against Israel; for Israel to give “reparations” to Palestinians; and for third parties to “not recognize as lawful, aid or assist Israel’s occupation.”

“It is thus reprehensible that APN touted Albanese’s UN report and featured Albanese at APN’s webinar – while failing to challenge any of Albanese’s anti-Israel libels,” ZOA stated.

ZOA listed APN’s anti-Israel record, including its official policy of calling for antisemitic boycotts (BDS) discriminating against Jews living in the Jewish homeland over the artificial “green line”;

– recently co-hosting of anti-Israel NGO ACRI’s executive director calling for stopping all contributions to Israel’s economy;

– inciting hatred against Jews living in Judea and Samaria by calling these Jewish families a “plague” like the plagues that G-d visited on the Egyptians who enslaved us;

– mourning the death of Saeb Erekat – who repeatedly libeled and incited violence against Israel, while ignoring Jewish victims of Palestinian terror;

– allegedly laundering funds to use for its anti-Israel political activities; and

– attempting to harm Jews and Jewish businesses by demanding rescission of “made in Israel” labeling regulations.

According to ZOA, “We have to wonder: Why is anti-Israel BDS-supporting APN still a member of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations?

By World Israel News Staff

Numerous groups representing American Jewry responded to the passage of a law limiting the Supreme Court’s ability to intervene on government decisions based on a standard of “reasonability,” with some groups praising the legislation and others decrying it.

“The Zionist Organization of America [ZOA] strongly supports and praises Israel’s democratically-elected Knesset for passing the first part of much-needed judicial reform,” ZOA President Morton A. Klein said in a press statement.

“The new law prevents the Israeli Supreme Court from striking down or reversing democratically-appointed government officials’ actions simply because the Court’s self-appointed, unelected left wing judges believe that the government’s actions are not ‘reasonable.’ Thus, existing judicial tyranny has been diminished.”

Mitchell Bard, executive director of the American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise, told JNS that as the victor of Israel’s most recent national elections in November 2022, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has the right to advance his political agenda.

“Netanyahu won, and it was democratic for his government to fulfill the promises to its constituents,” Bard said.

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) voiced a different perspective on the bill, calling it a “profound disappointment” and charging that the measure had been “pushed through unilaterally by the governing coalition.”

The AJC did not explain how the vote of the law in a democratic legislative format, following more than four months of negotiations between the coalition and opposition parties, was equivalent to being forcefully passed.

The group also expressed “great concern” regarding the timing of the passage of the law, which it said occurred “amid deepening divisions in Israeli society as evidenced by the hundreds of thousands of Israelis who have taken to the streets.”

In a press statement, the Anti-Defamation League said that it was “deeply disappointed that the Israeli government passed the controversial Reasonableness Bill, failing to heed the call of President Herzog and others to reach a compromise rooted in a broad societal consensus.”

Speaking to JNS, Rabbi Moshe Hauer, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union, did not express an opinion regarding the law. Rather, he emphasized the importance of Jewish cohesion in the face of contentious and divisive issues.

“Responsible voices on all sides of the aisle and the ocean must calmly, humbly and firmly step forward and do everything in their power to restore calm and to rebuild unity within the Jewish family,” he said.

“We have absolute confidence in Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, but as we prepare for the Fast of the Ninth of Av, we worry deeply that we have not learned the lessons of our painful history.”

Kevin McCarthy’s plan to expel congresswoman with a history of antisemitic and anti-Israel statements from committee.

By Bradley Martin, JNS

Several Jewish and pro-Israel groups welcomed received news of the likely removal of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, in the wake of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) long-standing pledge.

The new Congress with its Republican majority in the House of Representatives will be sworn in next month and McCarthy is the frontrunner to be elected speaker.

Omar’s antisemitic and anti-Israel comments include when she accused the Jewish state of having “hypnotized the world,” accused Jews of buying control of Congress, called Israel an “apartheid state,” and likened Israel to the Taliban and Hamas terrorist groups.

“Look at Congresswoman Omar, her antisemitic comments that have gone forward. We’re not going to allow her to be on Foreign Affairs,” McCarthy vowed during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has criticized Omar for her long history of antisemitic comments. The pro-Israel lobby group took aim at far-left organization J Street for its recent statement in support of Omar.

“J Street says it’s a ‘false accusation’ to call Rep. Ilhan Omar anti-Israel,” AIPAC posted on Twitter. “A false accusation? J Street is defending one of the most vocal anti-Israel critics in Congress.”

The ire of Jewish and pro-Israel groups

With Republicans winning a narrow majority in the House, it looks increasingly likely that McCarthy’s long-standing pledge will come to fruition. Omar’s history of antisemitic and anti-Israel comments has earned the ire of Jewish and pro-Israel groups.

“Any member of Congress, regardless of party, who has accused American Jews of dual loyalty, suggested we manipulate the political process, and who calls Israel an apartheid state, should not be holding such a prestigious committee assignment,” B’nai B’rith CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin said in a statement to JNS.

“RJC has been calling for Ilhan Omar’s removal from the House Foreign Committee for nearly 3 years,” the Republican Jewish Coalition posted on Twitter. “Democrats totally abdicated responsibility to hold her accountable for vile anti-Israel & antisemitic rhetoric. The new House GOP Majority will do what Democrats refused to do.”

McCarthy’s pledge was also warmly received by Zionist Organization of America President Morton Klein, in a statement to JNS.

“We urged Rep. McCarthy to remove Jew-hating, Israel-bashing Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee and strongly support his stance,” Klein said. “There must be negative consequences to Omar’s unbridled Jew-hatred to send a clear message that such bigotry won’t be tolerated.”

Although Republicans flipped control of the House in last month’s midterm elections, McCarthy faces opposition from a handful of conservatives in his own conference and a fragile path to the Speakership next year.

By Lauren Marcus, World Israel News

Senior officials from the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) released a statement on Tuesday slamming the former head of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for suggesting that his support for Israel is conditional.

“If Israel ceases to be an open democracy, I won’t be able to support it,” Abe Foxman, the ADL’s current director emeritus, told The Jerusalem Post last week.

Foxman expressed dismay over the results of Israel’s recent national election, which paved the way for the formation of a government coalition of exclusively right-wing parties.

Several of the parties have lobbied for changes to the Law of Return and a judicial override bill, legislation which Foxman claimed would transform Israel into a “fundamentalist, theocratic state.”

“I never thought that I would reach that point where I would say that my support of Israel is conditional. I’ve always said that [my support of Israel] is unconditional, but it’s conditional,” he added.

“I don’t think that it’s a horrific condition to say: ‘I love Israel and I want to love Israel as a Jewish and democratic state that respects pluralism.’ I want Israel to be Jewish, absolutely. But I want it to be a democracy.”

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein and ZOA Director of Research & Special Projects Liz Berney blasted Foxman for his comments, saying they proved he is an “attack dog of the thought police.”

Kelin and Berney said that Foxman “absurdly claimed that his views constitute democracy – rather than the voices of Israel’s democratic electorate, including the well over [500,000] Israelis who voted for the Religious Zionist party. Apparently… according to Foxman, ‘it’s only democracy when the Left wins.’”

They added that “Foxman’s comments are especially repugnant at a time when the Israeli people need and voted for a stable, strong government to appropriately deal with multiple serious problems, including defending against massive Palestinian Arab terrorism; dealing with tens of thousands of EU-funded illegal Arab buildings on state lands; reversing Lapid’s illegal surrender of Israel’s maritime border and gas field to Hezbollah- and Iranian-controlled Lebanon; and counteracting the Iranian nuclear threat.”

By World Israel News Staff

Following the deadly twin-bombing attacks Wednesday morning that claimed the life of 16-year-old Aryeh Schupak and wounded 23 others, some critically, the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is demanding the Biden administration take serious action to fight Palestinian terror.

The bombs were packed with nails to cause the most damage and detonated remotely when people were nearby, ZOA notes.

ZOA National President Morton Klein stated on Wednesday, “There has been an average of seven Arab terrorist attacks against Jews in Israel daily for the last nine months, including today’s terror bombings. The Zionist Organization of America demands that President Biden immediately halt the $700 million in aid to UNRWA, which runs schools and training camps where Hamas members teach Arab students to hate and violently attack Jews.

“ZOA deplores the fact that Biden reinstated this U.S. aid after President Trump wisely stopped these terror training funds.”

“The ZOA also urges the Biden Aministration to demand that the Palestinian Authority immediately end their policy of paying Arabs lifetime pensions to murder Jews and Americans,” Klein continued. “Furthermore, Biden should demand the rescinding of the naming of schools, streets, sports teams, and children’s camps after Jew-killers.”

“The U.S. must also abide by the Taylor Force Act, American law which prohibits U.S. funds from being used to pay Palestinian terrorists who kill Israelis and Americans,” added ZOA Chairman of the Board David Schoen.

“The Palestinian Authority, led by so-called moderate Mahmoud Abbas, pays bounties to these terrorists in a ‘Pay for Slay’ program that was run for years by Intisar Al-Wazir, the wife of arch-terrorist Abu Jihad. If the Biden administration keeps providing funding to the PA, terrorists and their families will be paid for life by U.S. taxpayers.”

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has appointed a Special Representative for Palestinian Affairs, in an effort to upgrade relations with the PA, Axios reported on Tuesday.

By JNS

Israel is a modern-day “miracle” and its relationship with the United States is deep-seated and multi-dimensional, former U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday.

Speaking at the Zionist Organization of America’s 2022 Gala in New York City, Trump said, “The United States and Israel are not just allies on a military basis, but economically and politically; we’re allies morally, culturally and spiritually and we always will be—at least if I have anything to do about it.”

The former president spoke after being honored with the organization’s Theodor Herzl Gold Medallion.

Founded in 1897, the Zionist Organization of America played a key role in the Jewish state’s re-establishment, and today is a leading American Jewish organization dedicated to defending Israel and the Jewish people; fighting against all forms of antisemitism, including anti-Jewish boycotts; and promoting the Jewish people’s lawful right to live in and settle historic Jewish lands.

Notable attendees among the 700 guests on Sunday night included the Trump administration’s chief Middle East peace negotiator Jason Greenblatt, Israeli parliamentarians Amir Ohana (Likud) and Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism), and law expert Alan Dershowitz.

Both appearing by video, Dr. Miriam Adelson presented to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) the ZOA’s Defender of Israel Award, named after her and her late husband Sheldon Adelson, who was a staunch supporter of the Jewish state.

Israel Defense Forces Brig. Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi received the Myron Zimmerman Security of Israel Award.

ZOA National President Morton Klein noted that the Herzl prize, in particular, had been granted sparingly by the organization—which marks its 125th anniversary this year—with past recipients including Lord Arthur Balfour, former British prime minister Winston Churchill, former U.S. president Harry Truman and former Israeli prime minister David Ben-Gurion.

“As president, I was proud to be the best friend … the State of Israel has ever had in the White House. Under my leadership, the alliance between the United States and Israel had never been stronger, and the future of the Middle East had never looked brighter,” said Trump at the event, prior to highlighting his record on Iran.

“Very quickly, I withdrew from the disastrous Iran [nuclear] deal, which actually I think may be the single most important thing … and I imposed the toughest-ever sanctions on the Iranian regime. … [Now, U.S. President Joe] Biden has been groveling to the Iranian dictatorship to re-enter [the agreement],” Trump added.

The ZOA cited as additional reasons for bestowing the award the Trump administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in Dec. 2017, and the move the following May of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to the city; the brokering of the Abraham Accords, which normalized the Jewish state’s relations with several Arab countries; recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights; and the downgrading of relations with the Palestinians, including cutting funding to Ramallah.

“Israel does not occupy sovereign Arab land,” ZOA head Klein noted in his speech, adding that ongoing Palestinian terrorism was geared towards extinguishing Israel’s existence.

“We have to make it clear that [Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud] Abbas is a monster terrorist and not a peacemaker. That is why [Israeli] offers of land have failed every time.

“This is our homeland,” he continued, “let us never forget it. We, the people of Eretz Yisrael, will prevail.”

Klein added that the Biden administration was acting hypocritically by implicitly condemning the “extremism” of Religious Zionism leaders Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, yet failing to denounce Abbas’s promotion of terrorism against Israelis.

Meanwhile, Trump suggested that some American Jews were not supportive enough of Israel.

“There are people in this country that happen to be Jewish who are not doing the right thing for Israel. … As you know, the Democrats get 75% of the [Jewish] vote, which is hard to believe. We can’t let that continue. We see all of the horrible things that have taken place with Biden and [former president] Barack Hussein Obama, and then they get 75% of the [Jewish] vote. What the hell is going on?”

Indeed, Trump emphasized the uniqueness of the Jewish state, calling it “a very, very special place, it’s an amazing place, it’s really a miracle.”

But, he cautioned, “it’s very delicate and you have to be very careful with it because really bad things can happen, and so I just say I’m with you all the way.”

Trump is expected to announce a 2024 presidential run as early as Tuesday.

By JNS

The Zionist Organization of America announced that it will honor former President Donald Trump with its Theodor Herzl Medallion.

Trump will receive the honor, which ZOA said it “rarely gives,” at the organization’s national award dinner in New York City on Nov. 13.

ZOA stated in an email that it is honoring Trump “for being the best friend Israel ever had in the White House.”

It listed a number of items in the context of Trump’s pro-Israel and pro-Jewish record, including brokering the Abraham Accords, relocating the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and an executive order strengthening Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to protect Jewish students.

The email also cited Trump, recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, pulling the U.S. out of the Iran deal, halting U.S. funding of the Palestinian Authority and UNRWA, recognizing the legality of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, becoming the first U.S. president to pray at the Western Wall, and more.

It isn’t known if Trump will address the gala.

At the same event, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will receive ZOA’s Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Defender of Israel Award. Miriam Adelson will present both Trump and McCarthy’s awards.

During Trump’s tenure, the U.S. recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, recognized Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, cut financial aid to Palestinians in response to PA terror funding and brokered the Abraham Accords – among other acts benefiting the Jewish state.

Yet in the 2020 U.S. election, a minority of American Jews – at most 30.5 percent – voted for Trump. According to various survey results, he got between 21 and 30 percent of the Jewish vote, although a majority of Orthodox Jews favored Trump over current U.S. President Joe Biden.

On the other hand, Trump adds to his statement, the Evangelical community as well as the Israelis are “far more appreciative” of his pro-Israel record.

“Somewhat surprisingly, however, our wonderful Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S.,” the former president wrote.

He reportedly made similar comments last year, in an interview with Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, saying, “Evangelical Christians love Israel more than U.S. Jews, who “either don’t like Israel or don’t care about Israel.”

Furthermore, according to a poll conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute in November 2020, 70 percent of Israeli Jews preferred Trump over Biden.

During a private campaign fundraiser in November 2019, in a room packed with Orthodox Jews, Trump joked that if his presidency fails he could move to Israel and easily become the next prime minister.

‘Antisemitic and insulting’

“U.S. Jews have to get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel — before it is too late!” he added to his recent social media post, with no elaboration.

Jonathan Greenblatt, left-wing national director and CEO of the American Anti-Defamation League, among others, slammed Trump’s post.

“We don’t need the former president, who curries favor with extremists and antisemites, to lecture us about the US-Israel relationship. It is not about a quid pro quo; it rests on shared values and security interests. This ‘Jewsplaining’ is insulting and disgusting,” Greenblatt tweeted.

On Monday, the White House condemned Trump’s post.

“Donald Trump’s comments were antisemitic and insulting both to Jews and to our Israeli allies,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated.

“Let’s be clear, for years now, Donald Trump has aligned with extremist and antisemitic figures. It should be called out,” she claimed. “We need to root out antisemitism everywhere it rears its ugly head.”

U.S.-Israel ties are “ironclad” and “rooted in shared values and interests. Donald Trump clearly doesn’t understand that either,” she added.

Trump to receive prestigious Zionist award

Since Trump left office, the Biden Administration reversed some of Trump’s Middle East policies, such as returning to negotiations with Iran and increasing funding to the Palestinian Authority.

Ahead of Trump’s controversial post, the Zionist Organization announced on Friday that it will award the former president the prestigious Theodor Herzl Medallion in New York at the ZOA National Award Dinner on November 13. Trump will receive the award in person from Dr. Miriam Adelson, distinguished physician and philanthropist who stated, in a piece published in Israel Hayom in January 2021, “As President Trump leaves the White House, we must remember that we, as Israelis, as Americans and as proud Jews owe him our gratitude.”

By World Israel News Staff

Eighteen organizations sent a letter drafted by the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) to U.S. President Joe Biden Wednesday, urging him to deny an entry visa to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation in the interest of national security, ZOA’s national president Morton Klein announced in a media statement.

The Iranian president is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly next month.

Raisi is subject to U.S. sanctions and is a human rights violator who was a member of Iran’s notorious “death committees,” which ordered the killing of thousands of Iranians, the letter states.

The letter details pressing national security concerns, including Iran’s recent threat to activate a nuclear weapons program and use nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) “to turn New York into ruins and hell” and to “turn the West and Israel’s nightmare into a reality”; Iran’s pursuit of assassination plots against U.S. residents and officials in New York and elsewhere in the U.S.; and Iran’s use of diplomats to carry out terror attacks.

The letter also sets forth precedents for denying visas, and explains that the UN Headquarters agreement was signed subject to U.S. law – a U.S. authorizing resolution which includes a national security reservation.

The eighteen organizations signing the letter are: The Zionist Organization of America; Americans Against Antisemitism; Americans for a Safe Israel; Americans for Peace & Tolerance; American Friends of Ateret Cohanim; AMIT; Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV); Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN); Emunah; Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET); Hadassah: The Women’s Zionist Organization of America; Iranian-Americans for Liberty; One Israel Fund; Pen & Shield Ltd.; Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC); StopAntisemitism.Org; Students Supporting Israel (SSI); and The Lawfare Project.

Seven prominent Senators previously sent a letter urging President Biden to deny a visa to Raisi. Former Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman and former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mark Wallace published a Wall Street Journal op-ed last week urging the president to deny the visa.

Notwithstanding the State Department’s announcement that it will issue the visa to Raisi, ZOA will continue urging Biden to cancel it, Klein said.

By JNS and World Israel News Staff

Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday evening welcomed U.S. President Joe Biden at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.

Referring to Herzog by his nickname, Biden wrote in the President’s Residence guestbook, “Bougie, my friend, thank you for all you and your family have done to deepen the ironclad bond between our two great countries.”

“From our shared Irish roots to our shared love of Israel, we are united in heart and spirit. May our friendship endure and continue to grow! That is the Irish of it, as my grandfather Finnegan would say. God bless you. Joe. 7.14.22,” the U.S. president wrote.

Biden also met with current Israeli opposition leader and former longstanding premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

The U.S. president received Israel’s Presidential Medal of Honor during a ceremony, and, along with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, was slated later in the evening to attend the opening events of the Maccabiah Games at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem.

The Zionist Organiation of America objected Monday to giving the Biden the medal, saying that he does not deserve it.

“This award makes no sense,” ZOA President Morton A. Klein said in a statement. “A ‘true friend of Israel’ and fighter against antisemitism would not pursue the numerous policies undermining Israel’s sovereignty and security that President Biden and his administration are pursuing, including 100’s of millions of U.S. tax dollars financially aiding and abetting Palestinian Arab terror against Jews.”

By Batya Jerenberg, World Israel News

A major American Jewish organization objected Monday to Israel presenting U.S. President Joe Biden its Presidential Medal of Honor during his visit to the country Wednesday, saying that he does not deserve it.

The stated reason for giving the award is to thank Biden for being “a true friend of Israel,” his “decades-long commitment to Israel’s security,” deepening the U.S.-Israel alliance, and “his struggle against anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic hatred around the world.”

“This award makes no sense,” Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A.

On Saturday, The Washington Post published an op-ed by the president saying that his administration had “reinstated nearly $500 million in aid” to the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The ZOA charged that this simply frees the PA to continue its policy of paying terrorists jailed in Israel. Families of terrorists killed during their attacks are also paid lifetime pensions.

The U.S. passed the Taylor Force Act in 2018 to stop American economic aid to the PA until it ceases paying these stipends. Thus, Biden is “blatantly violating and/or circumventing” this American law, the ZOA statement said.

The organization also condemned the administration’s decision to restore funding to UNRWA, which was established to aid Palestinian refugees from Israel’s 1948 War of Independence but, unlike every other refugee group, supports their descendants as well.

Pro-Israel organizations have documented the blatant antisemitism taught in UNRWA schools and identified about a hundred of its teachers who support terrorism.

Former president Donald Trump had cut off the money pipeline but last year, the White House provided the UN organization with nearly $314 million, 87% of its previous annual largesse.

The ZOA also castigated Biden for opposing the right of Jews to live and build in “the lawful Jewish homelands in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria” throughout his entire political career, “while saying nothing about massive illegal Arab building.”

It also criticized his support for a nuclear deal with Iran and his appointment of several harsh Israel critics to top spots in his administration.

“Giving Biden this major award will only encourage Biden to continue his hostile policies toward Israel, for it will send the message that Israel is comfortable with Biden’s wrongheaded policies,” Klein said.

President Isaac Herzog is set to present Biden with the prestigious award on Wednesday at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.
