Trump changed his mind twice on Iran strikes at last minute

After CNN revealed timing of planned US strikes on Iran, President Donald Trump had ordered to reschedule B-2 bombings – only to change his mind on the eve of the strikes.

President Donald Trump nearly held off on attacking Iran on the date originally scheduled, after hearing that a major news outlet had revealed the timing of the upcoming American attack.

On Monday, President Trump hosted a White House event for faith leaders.

While addressing the gathering, Trump revealed that after hearing a CNN report during last month’s war between Israel and Iran, he decided to abort the planned American airstrikes and reschedule them for a later date.

“I watched the horrible, horrible CNN…”I saw that they had basically the plans of when we’re going in, when we would be entering Iranian air space and I said, you know, that’s weird.”

“I called the general [Dan] ‘Razin’ Caine…and [Defense Secretary] Pete Hegseth, I said: ‘I’m watching a newscast where they’re saying what time you’re taking off tomorrow and what time we’re going to be entering the very dangerous space.”

According to Trump, Caine and Hegseth dismissed his concerns. “They said: ‘Sir, we’ll be fine. We’ll blow them away.”

The president also revealed that the fighter jets escorting the B-2 bombers used in last month’s strikes were F-22s and F-35s.

Despite the reassurances from Caine and Hegseth that the media reports revealing the timing of the strikes would not endanger the mission, Trump ordered that the planned sorties be cancelled.

“I said, but wouldn’t a surprise be better? ‘Yeah, it would be better’. I said, ‘Well, then let me cancel it and let’s make it at a different time’,” Trump continued.

“I said ‘I’m cancelling it, we’ll do it some time within the next two, maybe three weeks’.”

“Everyone knew it was being canceled. I said, ‘Let’s leave it the exact same time we were supposed to leave’, the following day. And we took off and that’s when the planes went out to Guam and this and that. We took off.”

In the end, the US strikes on the Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordo nuclear facilities were carried out as originally planned, before dawn on the morning of June 22nd, Iran time.
