US Army soldier charged over threats to ‘kill every single Jew’ at synagogue

A 22-year-old soldier stationed in Louisiana was arrested and charged after threatening to carry out a mass shooting at a synagogue.

A US Army soldier stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana has been arrested and charged with threatening to carry out a mass shooting at a synagogue, federal prosecutors said on Monday.

Jakob Marcoulier, 22, has been charged over a criminal complaint with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce after allegedly telling users on Discord that he planned to kill Jewish people inside a synagogue.

He was arrested on April 23 and faces up to five years in federal prison if convicted.

According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana, the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center received an online tip in February about a Discord user named “el.bostino” who had made threats toward synagogues.

Investigators later identified the user as Marcoulier, prosecutors said.

Court documents cited by prosecutors say the FBI obtained recorded audio from Discord in which Marcoulier allegedly said he would “walk into a synagogue” with a rifle and “kill every single Jew” inside.

Prosecutors said he also made comments referencing white supremacist ideology and told others they would see him “in the news.”

“After this deployment, if the Jews still have reign over our government, I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK, with a 75-round drum mag, and all of my extra mags, with my level four plates, and my haka helmet that’s three plus, and I am going to kill every single Jew I know inside of that synagogue. And that’s my goal in life,” Marcoulier wrote.

Marcoulier later reiterated his intentions to carry out a mass shooting of synagogue attendees, emphasizing that he was sincere about his plans. He also explained the reasoning behind his desire to kill Jews, saying such actions are necessary to ensure the future of “white youth.”

“You guys will never do anything about but I will. I just have to finish this, I have to go back overseas and do what I have to do. And then you’ll see me in the news. I promise you,” Marcoulier wrote.

“You guys don’t want to do anything for the f—ing cause when it actually needs to happen … I’ll still kill these motherf—ers in order to make sure the white youth is f—-ing secured.”

“Threats against synagogues and Jewish Americans are threats to the religious freedom promised to every single one of us,” US Attorney Zachary A. Keller said.

Keller said his office and law enforcement partners were committed to protecting those freedoms.

FBI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Tapp said the case showed the importance of public tips, saying agents in Birmingham and New Orleans, along with the US Army, “acted swiftly” after a concerned citizen contacted the FBI.
