IDF soldier’s family boycotts terrorist’s murder trial – ‘It’s a farce!’

Palestinian terrorist Islam Yusuf Abu Hamid was indicted in an IDF military court in July for the murder of 20-year-old Ronen Lubarsky, an IDF combat soldier from the elite Duvdevan commando unit.

Lubarsky’s family is boycotting the murder trial because, their lawyer says, it is set up so that Hamid will not receive the death penalty.

Lubarsky was mortally wounded in May during an operation to apprehend a squad of Palestinian terrorists involved in recent shooting attacks in the territories. Hamid threw a heavy marble slab that landed on the victim’s head, leading to his death hours later.

Ari Lubarsky, the victim’s brother, demanded that the terrorist be given the death penalty instead of going to jail. “The party must end,” he stated. “The terrorist’s four brothers are imprisoned in Israeli jails. We demand one thing from the Military Advocate General: the death penalty for the terrorist.”

The family “will not be party to the farce that’s going on,” their lawyer said.
