WATCH: Israeli politician pushes tougher conditions for Palestinian prisoners

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan is looking to make life for Palestinian prisoners a lot tougher, but faces significant opposition from other senior members of the security establishment, who consider such moves “useless.” The issue has been a topic of ongoing debate. Prisoners in Israel are well-fed, and many use their time to study for university degrees. Most recently, 17-year-old Ahed Tamimi, a violent Palestinian anti-Israel activist, served nine months in jail for repeatedly slapping and kicking an IDF soldier. Upon her release, dozens of tweets in Arabic pointed to her significant weight gain, noting that she had obviously lived in comfort.
