IDF forces detained the mother and brothers of terrorist Asam Barghouti, who carried out the bloody attack in Givat Assaf, in an early morning raid, the Israeli Defense Forces reports.

The arrests, which were carried out by a combination of IDF soldiers, Shin Bet, (“Israel Security Agency”) Israeli Border Police and regular police, was part of a larger operation that netted a total of 25 wanted suspects involved in terrorist activities and violent disturbances against Israeli civilians and security forces.

The suspects were transferred to the security forces for questioning.

During the operation, a Palestinian Arab threw a pipe bomb at IDF forces near Jenin. He was shot and killed. No Israeli forces were injured.

In December, Israeli forces arrested Asam Barghouti, who carried out the shooting attack at a hitchhiker’s station near the Givat Assaf junction in the Binyamin region of Samaria. Staff Sergeant Yoval Mor Yosef of Ashkelon and Sergeant Yosef Cohen of Beit Shemesh were killed in that attack.

Barghouti was also involved in the shooting attack at a hitchhiking station near the Jewish town of Ofra with his brother Salah Barghouti, who was killed during an attempt by Israeli forces to arrest him in December.
