One Palestinian attacker was killed and another wounded at a checkpoint in northern Samaria after the two terrorists threw an explosive device at Israeli troops.

Soldiers on the scene opened fire during the incident, neutralizing both attackers.

Palestinian medics said a 21-year-old Palestinian died from gunshot wounds and a second was hospitalized with moderate wounds.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said the terrorist who was eliminated was shot in the head, according to Times of Israel. The Red Crescent identified him as Abed Allah Tawalbeh. The wounded attacker was shot in the posterior and received treatment at a Jenin-area hospital.

Last week Israeli police shot and killed a Palestinian attacker who tried to stab security personnel at a checkpoint near Jerusalem. Two weeks ago, a Palestinian terrorist launched a stabbing attack against Israeli troops near Shechem (Nablus), but IDF soldiers shot him dead.

In December attacks, two soldiers were killed, in addition to a premature baby who died just four days after being born via an emergency c-section that was necessitated by a drive-by shooting in which both mother and father were wounded.
