Showdown brewing: Europe prepares Hormuz mission despite Iranian threat

Britain and France will host a multinational defense ministers meeting on Tuesday to coordinate military plans for restoring trade through the Strait of Hormuz, despite direct threats from Iran.

More than 40 countries are expected to take part as London and Paris push forward with plans to protect shipping in the strategic waterway.

The tensions escalated after Iran warned British and French warships they would face an “immediate and decisive response” if deployed to the region, even as both countries began positioning naval assets near the Gulf.
