At least eight people were injured Thursday morning in a terrorist ramming attack in central Israel.
The attack occurred just before 9:25 a.m. on Route 57 at the entrance to Kfar Yona, just east of Netanya, when a terrorist slammed his vehicle into a crowd of people waiting at a bus stop.
Emergency first responders from Magen David Adom (MDA) and United Hatzalah were dispatched to the scene to treat the victims and evacuate them to local hospitals.
According to an MDA spokesperson, eight people were treated at the scene, including a young man and a young woman roughly 20 years of age who suffered moderate injuries.
In addition, three victims are listed in light-to-moderate condition, while the remaining three victims were lightly injured.
After being treated at the scene, the victims were evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera and to Laniado Hospital in Netanya.
“We responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle that struck a bus stop,” said United Hatzalah EMTs Rafael Kahan and Ariel Levyov.
“We provided medical treatment to a young male pedestrian and a young female pedestrian, both in moderate condition, and six additional pedestrian patients in mild condition.”
Police forces were called to the scene and a manhunt has been launched for the terrorist, who drove off after the attack.
According to a statement by police, the vehicle used in the attack – a Toyota – was spotted by a helicopter team, apparently abandoned next to a house off of Route 57, between Kfar Yona and the town of Nitsanei Oz, located just west of the Green Line.
The terrorist is believed to have fled on foot.
