Abbas recalled his ambassador in Washington in response to the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas summoned his Washington envoy, Husam Zomlot, back to the Palestinian-run territories on Tuesday.
“When they (the US administration) opened their embassy in Jerusalem, there was a need for a decision from our side, and this was our decision,” Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki stated.
The relationship between Ramallah and Washington has deteriorated over the past year and especially since December, when President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
