Billionaire philanthropist Sheldon Adelson has created a $4 million relief fund for the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

The Adelson Family Foundation and the Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced on Thursday the formation of a $4 million relief fund. Each will contribute $4 million to provide aid to victims of the deadly Las Vegas shooting and their families as well as to support crisis and disaster response, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

American casino magnate and philanthropist Sheldon Adelson and his wife Dr. Miriam Adelson reportedly discussed how they could help victims during a meeting with US President Donald Trump on Monday.

The death toll has reached 59 and over 500 people were wounded in a mass shooting at an outdoor country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip late Sunday. The shooter, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, was killed.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal – owned by the family of Las Vegas Sands Corp. chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson – reports that the Monday afternoon meeting was pre-arranged and set to focus on policy issues, but the Adelsons also discussed the shooting and what they could do to assist the victims.

“Las Vegas is our home and on behalf of every single Las Vegas Sands team member and the Adelson family, we pledge to do everything we can to bring our community together, provide support for the victims and their families, and ensure Las Vegas remains the strong and vibrant city it has always been,” the Adelson family said, according to the journal.
