After ‘ceasefire,’ Iran launches missile barrage on Israel, killing 4 and wounding dozens

The strikes came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 12-hour ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

In a dramatic escalation early Tuesday morning, Iran launched six separate missile barrages at Israel within a two-hour window, striking cities from the south to the north and leaving four dead and dozens wounded.

The attack began shortly after 5:00 a.m. with two missiles intercepted before impact.

A second wave just 30 minutes later caused major devastation—one missile slammed into a seven-story building in Be’er Sheva.

Three people—two men in their 20s and 40s and a woman in her 30s—were critically injured and later pronounced dead. Another victim also died in the aftermath.

Seven others were rushed to Soroka Hospital with moderate and light injuries.

“We saw thick smoke rising from the impact site, and as we got closer, we saw extensive destruction to several buildings,” said MDA Senior EMT Shimrit Sela. “Outside one of the buildings, we saw an unconscious man… inside, we found a man and a woman unconscious.”

Dvir Ben Ze’ev, another MDA paramedic, said, “We responded to the incident in large numbers… We saw significant destruction… we had no choice but to pronounce them dead.”

A 15-year-old girl in Hadera and at least one other person in the Sharon region were also wounded, likely from shrapnel or interception debris.

United Hatzalah reported ongoing rescue efforts in Be’er Sheva, including a search for one missing person. “This is a very difficult scene,” said Eliyahu Yitzhak Tuval, head of the Be’er Sheva branch. “Some patients are in critical and severe condition… Psychotrauma teams are assisting at the scene with anxiety victims.”

Sirens continued to sound across central and northern Israel as four more barrages followed in rapid succession.

Most incoming missiles were intercepted, but the repeated alarms forced thousands into shelters.

The strikes came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 12-hour ceasefire between Israel and Iran, set to begin at 7:00 a.m. local time.

Trump stated that Iran would halt fire first, followed by Israel six hours later. Yet Iran continued launching missiles beyond the start of the truce.

Iran’s state-run SNN claimed it began observing the ceasefire around 7:20 a.m., after the final barrage.

By that time, Israel had already endured one of the most intense mornings of missile fire.
