Anti-Israel professor posts vulgar rants against Jews

Rutgers University’s Michael Chikindas’ virulently anti-Israel and anti-Semitic Facebook posts have landed the professor in hot water.

Michael Chikindas, a microbiology professor in the food science department and director of the Rutgers Center for Digestive Health, has been posting vicious anti-Semitic canards that could have been taken straight out of the Nazi propaganda machine.

They include conspiracy theories about rich Jews controlling not only Hollywood but the Federal Reserve and the American government; the incredible statement that Jewish Turks committed the Armenian genocide; and that Judaism is ‘the most racist religion in the world.” He has shared many stereotypical, anti-Semitic caricatures and cartoons, at one point writing a curse-filled post stating, “These [Jews] do not control me … I really do not have anything to loose [sic], hence nothing to be controlled.”

His vitriol is especially strong when it comes to Israel. It is a given to him that Zionism equals racism, but Chikindas goes much further, as he claims that “Israel is the terrorist country aimed at genocidal extermination of the land’s native population, Palestinians.”  He also supports the boycott of Israeli universities, as noted in a Facebook post from May 22: “I am very proud saying that I ignore all of Israel’s academia requests to assist them professionally.”

The Algemeiner, which managed to get an interview with the professor, reported that Chikindas actually rejected accusations of being an anti-Semite, explaining that he was partially Jewish and had once been married to a Jewish woman.

Neal Buccino, a spokesperson for Rutgers, told The Algemeiner that “Professor Michael Chikindas’ comments and posts on social media are antithetical to our university’s principles and values of respect for people of all backgrounds, including, among other groups, our large and vibrant Jewish community. Such comments do not represent the position of the University.”

He added that the university was investigating if Chikindas violated the Rutgers’ policy prohibiting discrimination.

As of Wednesday morning, the professor’s Facebook page had been taken down.
