Antisemitic vandals target Jewish school in Paris

Windows were smashed, security equipment was vandalized, and the school’s sign was torn from the building.

By World Israel News

A disturbing antisemitic incident hit Paris over the weekend, with a Jewish elementary school vandalized in what authorities described as a targeted attack.

The Paris prosecutor’s office said several individuals damaged the Lubavitch–Beit Hanna Jewish elementary school in the city’s 20th district late Saturday night.

Windows were smashed, security equipment was vandalized, and the school’s sign was torn from the building and later found in a nearby park. Officials said the attackers did not enter the school.

Police have opened an investigation into serious property damage and assigned the case to the local district station to identify those responsible.

The attack comes as antisemitism in France has surged sharply since Hamas’ Oct. 7 massacre in southern Israel and the war that followed. Public concern has intensified alongside that rise.

A recent poll by the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France and Ipsos found that 68% of respondents view antisemitism as widespread, 66% say it has increased over time, and 27% believe the rise has been significant.

The survey also found that 61% of French respondents believe there are legitimate reasons for Jews in France to feel afraid, highlighting the broader climate surrounding the incident.
