The head of the Israeli-Arab political alliance in the Knesset attended an event sponsored by Palestinian terror organizations during which he stated that Israel “will be defeated, and Jerusalem will remain for its people, standing strong, winning, and the capital of Palestine.”
Member of Knesset (MK) Ayman Odeh, head of the Joint Arab List, participated on Monday in a conference in Jerusalem organized the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP).
PFLP is responsible for numerous suicide bombings and terror attacks. Among others, PFLP took responsibility for the 2014 Jerusalem synagogue massacre in which four Jewish worshipers and a policeman were killed with axes, knives, and a gun, while seven were injured.
The DFLP is best known for the 1974 Ma’alot massacre in which 25 schoolchildren and teachers were killed.
Both organizations are among the political factions that make up the PLO.
Jerusalem District Police Commander Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevy issued a ban on the event hours before it took place.
Acting on the ban, Israeli Police officers arrived at the Ambassador Hotel to shut down the event. Six people were detained for questioning and one woman was arrested.
Addressing the crowd as it was dispersed, Odeh shouted that “they will be defeated, and Jerusalem will remain for its people, standing strong, winning, and the capital of Palestine,” Ynet news reported.
Israel’s Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan condemned Odeh for participating in the event, saying that the Israeli-Arab lawmaker “provided another example of his behavior as an enemy of the state and as a supporter and accomplice in the activity of terror organizations.”
Erdan said he will file a complaint with the attorney general and demand that a criminal investigation be launched against Odeh for aiding a declared terror organization.
“Odeh, your place is not in the Knesset, it’s in prison,” Erdan stated.
