Ben and Jerry’s tries to sweeten mood ahead of Israel’s third elections

Ben & Jerry’s in Israel is seeking suggestions for ingredients for an ice cream flavor dedicated to the country’s third elections.

By World Israel News

The Israeli manufacturers of Ben & Jerry’s went to Instagram on Monday to help cheer up the mood of Israeli voters facing an unprecedented third election by seeking ingredient suggestions for its new “Third Time Ice Cream” flavor.

The proposed name riffs off an Israeli saying that if you meet a friend by chance for a third time you should treat each other to ice cream.

Captioned under the picture of an ice cream pint, the post says “We thought that in honor of the elections we would create a new flavor called ‘Third Time Ice Cream,’ but we can’t decide what to put in it. Any ideas?”

Reflecting the mood of the country, the thread was filled with negative suggestions, such as dirt and stones.

There were some amusing suggestions as well, such as “lots of NUTS.”

Another suggested “Mocca with dark chocolate chips; since it is for the elections, mocca to awake people and chocolate to soothe them.”

Ben and Jerry’s Israel likes to put their two scoops in during an election season. On its Hebrew website, the company provides solutions for common excuses to not go and vote, like:

“I’m too busy eating Ben & Jerry’s”

“I’m in the middle of a Netflix binge.”

“I got a hangover.”

The company urged people to vote, however: “We understand that you and your ice cream are tight, but choices are important too. So if you really can’t say goodbye to each other, take a spoon and ice cream with you to the ballot box so you have something to snack on as you stand in line to vote.”
