Israel has established at least two secret military bases in Iraq, according to a report by The New York Times citing Iraqi officials.
The report builds on an earlier report by The Wall Street Journal, which said Israel set up a hidden base to support its air campaign against Iran and even carried out strikes to prevent it from being exposed early in the war.
According to Iraqi sources, the bases were constructed in remote desert areas beginning in 2024, with at least one site known to the United States by the summer of 2025.
The report also claims the United States pressured Iraq to shut down radar systems, preventing it from detecting Israeli activity on its territory.
