The 34-year-old son of Brazilian President-elect Jair Bolsonaro confirmed that his country’s embassy in Israel will be relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Meeting in Washington Tuesday with Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Brazilian congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro said that the “question should not be whether, but when” the move will take place.

Brazil’s new president won the national election last month on promises to make several changes in Latin America’s largest nation, one of which is to foster closer relations with Israel.

Following his victory, Bolsonaro announced via Facebook on Thursday that Brazil would move its embassy to Jerusalem.

“As previously stated during our campaign, we intend to transfer the Brazilian Embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem,” Bolsonaro wrote. “Israel is a sovereign state and we shall duly respect that.”
